Description from owner

Description

Located on the slopes of a secluded Welsh valley, Stabal Iwrch offers the perfect place to relax, unwind and hide away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wake up in the mornings to the sound of birdsong or lambs bleating in the fields. Step outside your door at night and gaze at the amazing display of stars in the dark sky, unspoilt by any light pollution.

Whether you're looking to make the most of what Snowdonia and North Wales has to offer, or just want somewhere snug to hole up in for a few days, look no further than this cosy cottage. Perfectly located at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, with its ever increasing number of exiting attractions, Stabal Iwrch offers you the ideal base from which to explore the area.

The cottage is located on our working farm, close to our family farmhouse, which means we are always on hand to offer help and advise if necessary. There is ample opportunity for you to meet our animals - pigs and piglets, chickens, sheep and not forgetting the newborn lambs at Easter which are always a big hit. For a truly cultural experience, spend some time sitting outside your cottage and you're bound to hear some of the sing-song notes of our beautiful Welsh Language (even if it's a few choice words directed at the sheep dog!). Welsh is our family's first language and it's widely spoken in this part of Snowdonia - we'll teach you a phrase or two to impress your friends when you get home.

Stabal Iwrch is fitted to a very high standard and stylishly combines modern conveniences such as under floor heating, power showers and flat screen TV's, with more traditional features like the original oak beams and slate flagstone floors.

Come and see for yourself. A warm Welsh welcome awaits you at Stabal Iwrch.

Cottage description:- Stabal's front door takes you into a large lounge area, with leather three seater settee and leather armchair, large flat screen tv, wood burning stove (fire wood included), pitch pine sideboard. Next door is the cottage's farmhouse style kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, large fridge freezer, electric oven & hob. Dining table and four chairs in centre of room with patio doors leading out to enclosed patio area.

Wooden staircase leads up from lounge area to an upstairs landing which has two bedrooms and a bathroom leading from it.

Bedroom 1 - king sized bed with a quality pocket sprung mattress, Egyptian Cotton bedding, large chest of drawers, hanging rail, flat screen tv, en-suite shower room with rain shower.

Bedroom 2 - twin beds with quality pocket sprung mattresses, Egyptian Cotton bedding, 2 chests of drawers, hanging rail, glass door leading out to external stone steps (originally the steps to the hay-loft) providing lovely views of the surrounding farm land and animals.

Bathroom - large double bath with shower attachment, large sky light window lets you gaze at the stars while soaking in the bath.

Outside - glass door leads from lounge area into an enclosed back garden with patio area and grassed lawn. Table & four chairs. Garden gate leads straight out into fields with public footpath and circular walks.

Washing machine & tumble dryer located in outhouse in garden (shared facility with Stabal's neighbour Hafod Iwrch).

Heating - environmentally friendly underfloor heating gives an even heat throughout the cottage, wood burning stove provides additional heat.

Stabal is located next door to Hafod Iwrch (ref 6938726), which also sleeps four. Booking both cottages together would be an ideal option for larger groups of up to 8 people.

Home truths - we want you to know exactly what you're getting when you book your stay at Stabal Iwrch so we've tried to be completely honest in our description of the place. Stabal was originally the stables and hayloft to the farm. We have kept many of the original features including the original wooden A-frames in the roof, which are now a feature in the bedrooms. This does mean that the ceiling height of the bedrooms is a little lower than usual (although Ioan, the owner, is well over 6ft and easily manages not to bump his head in the shower!). The king sized bed is also slightly lower than a standard bed just so that it fits in under the eaves - a quirky little feature that's a novelty for most of our guests, but might be something to think about for anyone with bad knees!

Wi-fi - our rural location means we can only offer limited free wi-fi to our guests. It's fine for checking emails, Facebook, and browsing the web, but not so good for watching videos, playing online games or downloading large files.

Mobile phone reception tends to come and go at Moel Yr Iwrch. There is usually no signal inside the cottage but you can make calls a short walk up the road or in the field next to the cottage. Our house landline is always available in an emergency.

Check in time is from 4pm and we kindly ask that you check out by 10am.

Dogs are welcome (charge applies - £5/dog/night up to a max £25/week).
