Description

Sitting in a quiet village on the west coast of Lewis, this recently refurbished detached cottage offers comfortable accommodation and panoramic views of East Loch Roag.

All rooms are on the ground floor, consisting of living room with armchairs and sofa to curl up on at the open fire. There is freeview TV, DVD, CD player with ipod dock, as well as a plentiful supply of books, board games and playing cards for rainy days.

There are two bedrooms, one with king size double bed the other has twin beds which can be joined to form an extra large double bed. All have good quality mattresses and bed linen

The bathroom has modern toilet, washbasin and corner shower with overhead and handheld shower heads as well as body jets.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, crockery, cutlery and glasses. It also has a multifuel stove. Off the kitchen is a small dining area with seating for four people.

The cottage also benefits from an electric central heating system which provides a plentiful supply of hot water.

“Helpful host & dog friendly”

Nice bungalow everything you need.* Stoves set to use which was needed on 2 occasions. Everything in bungalow. Nice welcome pack milk eggs biscuits flowers. 1 point could not find egg cups * Crockery plates cups was good quality. Think cleaners had missed cooker as thick with grease. When we arrived. We also had to clean windows seal as was thick with dead midges. And new midges, WiFi worked well Owner left a lovely card apologising for front windows due to painter painting outside house . Overall very good.

“A perfect getaway and a great host”

We knew this was going to be a good experience when the host responded promptly and thoroughly to our initial approach and questions before booking after we had been let down by another host. We are a family of 3 with a small dog and it was spot on. The house is perfectly situated to tour all of Lewis and some of Harris, whereas the property we were meant to stay at was nearer Tarbert and would have increased our travel significantly to see all the sights on the island. The house is also in walking distance of some lovely sight-seeing spots and a local art studio and a home-made cake road-side store (yum!). The house is incredibly well equipped with lots of thoughtful touches from the host, and again, amazing prompt responses to any email questions when there. It is clean and cozy, with a large garden to the front and rear. Much of the island is still on ‘shut down’ due to Covid-19; however there was still plenty to do to fill our week away. We chose the Outer Hebrides as an escape from ‘the hoards‘ and it delivered just that. We just needed to be well prepared for picnics and home cooked meals, which we did by stocking up at the supermarket in Stornoway. I can highly recommend this house and host and am so grateful for the well needed week away on such a stunningly beautiful island.
