Escape to the perfect beach cottage. Quaint and contemporary marry seamlessly in this updated 1,400-sq-ft Carmel home located within walking distance of the village and minutes by car to the beach. This sea-themed 2-bedroom, 2-bath, situated in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood, combines the coziness of a cottage with a modern upscale Pottery Barn sophistication.
Enter the property through a vine-covered arch into an enclosed front area with a brick path and driveway bordered with flowering plants. Two wrought-iron chairs with comfortable cushions provide a private place to relax on the front porch and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee during Carmel’s wonderful cool mornings and evenings.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, plush spa bathrobes, slippers, oversized towels and beach gear.
An open floor plan imparts a spacious feeling to the combined living-dining room, which feature a granite-faced gas fireplace with pitched beamed ceilings, Hubbardton Forge artisan light fixtures and hardwood floors. A 40-inch HD LCD TV mounted over the fireplace allows you to watch a movie with the Blue Ray DVD and enjoy a fire at the same time. An earthy palette of sage green, tan and sea-foam blue is offset by crisp white furnishings – sofa, arm chair and an ottoman serving as a coffee table. Chenille throw pillows with starfish designs, distressed side tables and sea-themed art all help create a beach cottage feel.
A renovated contemporary chef’s dream kitchen is a showpiece with its black Corian counter-tops, beautiful walnut cabinetry and top-quality appliances including a gas range and stainless steel side-by side refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. A generous selection of dishware and table linens allow you to entertain as if you were at home. Dine 48-inch round table with a mahogany top and sage scroll legs that seats four. A sunlit breakfast nook off the kitchen has a white bistro table and bench alongside a bay window, perfect for 2 people to sit and relax over morning tea or coffee and croissants. Two metal counter stools provide another eating spot at the kitchen counter.
A spotless remodeled bathroom with shower is just off the kitchen as is a stacking washer and dryer.
The living room and bedrooms are bathed in light from French doors that open to a wraparound deck with outdoor furnishings that include a teak table that can seat 8 and a gas grill. The deck overlooks an enclosed private pet-friendly back yard with roses and other flowering plants. You are beautifully set up to entertain or just lie back, relax and breathe in the fresh ocean air.
The master bedroom has a king with memory foam topper fitted with luxury linens and an ocean-themed duvet comforter in ivory and ocean-reef colors. The king can be converted to 2 twins.
A second bedroom has a white cottage day bed with an ivory, sage green and aqua blue accents. The daybed with trundle can stay a single or be made up as 2 twins or a king with memory foam topper. Total sleeping capacity is 5: 4 adults and 1 small child.
The sparkling remodeled full bathroom near both bedrooms has a shower-over-tub, old-fashioned beadboard wainscoting, brushed nickel fixtures and sand-colored limestone tile on the floor and around the tub. Plush white spa towels with sage-green accents complete the picture.
Parking for 1 car in a carport and a second in the driveway; additional on-street parking available for 2 more cars.

We've been renting vacation homes since the late 1980's, but this was, by far, the best rental. Easiest check-in, with wine and cheese, greeting us, as we walked in the door. The house was spotless and there were plenty of supplies(toilet paper, soap, pillows, blankets, etc.). Great children's drawer with games and books, and we really enjoyed the aquarium passes! Super fun and relaxing vacation! Thanks, Sanctuary Vacation Rentals!
