Additional Location Information

Just over two hours from Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne by air, and even closer to New Zealand, Norfolk is the dream Island getaway: convenient enough to go door to door in under 4 hours and incredible enough to feel as though you’ve just arrived in a paradise of your very own. Multiple flights weekly ensure a Norfolk Island vacation with dates designed to your needs.

Once on beautiful Norfolk Island, your host will meet you at the airport and provide you with a complimentary rental car and guide you to Tintoela's - a mere 5 minute drive from the airport. Through the heart of the Burnt Pine township, onto New Cascade Road and then along Harpers Road, you will arrive at Hunky's Homestead with its spectacular setting and unrivaled views over Cascade Bay before you know it.

Beautiful Norfolk Island is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. With one third of the Island devoted to national parks and reserves, visitors can choose between a myriad of activities, catered to your specific desires. Majestic subtropical forests host a number of exquisite walking and hiking trails, many of which ocean-side, with lengths to suit every fitness level. Mountain biking tours can also be arranged. Stunning blue waters offer incredible fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling, surfing, sailing and kayaking. Looking for a more relaxing pursuit? There’s always the calm, delightful waters of Emily Bay, one of the most picturesque beaches you’ll ever find. Emily Bay is also host to the popular glass bottomed boat tours.

For those seeking a more exotic or specific experience, Tintoela is proud to work with Damien Snell, one of Norfolk Island’s most fun and informative nature guides, to offer custom itineraries that you’ll remember for life. One highly recommended trip is to Philip Island for a day tour, Norfolk’s uninhabited satellite island. There you’ll experience a land few humans have ever seen first hand, taking in vistas, flora and fauna both beautiful and otherworldly.

“Paradise” is how Captain James Cook described Norfolk Island when he discovered the uninhabited island in 1774. Not long after Cook’s discovery, Norfolk Island was turned into a penal colony. In 2010 the site of the former penal colony was officially added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List for being one of the best preserved historical sites in the Pacific. Late in 1856, the history of Norfolk Island took another amazing turn when the Island was generously granted by Queen Victoria to the descendants of the Mutineers of the Bounty. Today roughly a third of the Island’s inhabitants trace their lineage back to the Mutineers and their Tahitian partners and God Save the Queen remains the national anthem. Norfolk Island today is a host to a number of fascinating peoples and cultures.
