Great Vacation Home for Families

We were looking for a large home on Lake Balaton that would sleep 9-10 people, for us and for our adult children and their friends. The Fek apartment was the only reasonably-priced, large home we found. There were 5 bedrooms (12 beds), two full bathrooms, two refrigerators, an eat-in kitchen, a lovely living room, a terrace and a grill. There was a also large supply of linens and towels, mostly new. The only thing we had to provide was food. The owner, David Toth, is a young man who is eager to please his guests. He speaks a passable English, which was important to us. Although our children live in Hungary and speak Hungarian, we were making the arrangements and we do not speak Hungarian. Outside of Budapest, it is sometimes difficult to find English speakers. David was a pleasure to deal with and made sure all our needs were met. Our first impression of the home was that it was large enough for us and it was immaculately clean. The beach was only a 5-minute walk from the house and the beach, too, was immaculately clean. The Fek Restaurant is less than a 5-minute walk from the house and the food was delicious. A small supermarket and green grocer next to the restaurant carries anything a vacationer would need. There is another, larger supermarket at the entrance to the beach. A big bonus for all of us was wi-fi throughout the house and cable television. The only drawback to the site is that there is no entertainment in Balatonakali. One needs a car to go to the two major resort towns only 15-20 minutes away, Tihany and Balatonfurdo. There are a number of restaurants closeby, but one needs a car. The lack of local entertainment should not deter anyone from renting this home. … see more
