Additional Location Information

A quiet French beach in August. A practically unspoilt little place on the French Mediterranean, accessible by train that is Cerbere.
On the border of France and Spain has a village-like seafront, little harbour, beach and the gigantic arcades of the railway, built by Eiffel's firm, The railway once the transit point between France and Spain not only for people but also for goods is still important to the town though no longer as busy as the old track would suggest. Because the tracks in France and Spain used to be different widths everything had to be man or more accurately woman handled from one train to another. Fly to Perpignan, and take the short train ride to Cerbère. There is a single, old-fashioned seafront shop selling buckets and spades and a small selection of no-nonsense clothes and espadrilles. There were no trendy bars or boutiques but there are a few restaurants and a couple of bars to chose from. There are a couple of tiny beaches, even less crowded than the town strand, close to the friendly La Coba café, which has staggering views over the Mediterranean and not many customers.
