Description from owner
Description
This is a particularly well appointed property which has been designed and restored by its architect owner to the most exacting of build quality in order to provide a unique and comfortable holiday experience. The property is located in a quiet hamlet with the nearest shops in a small town called Montemboeuf approx 5kms away. Sleeping up to 6 people, there is a large double bedroom on the ground floor with full height patio doors allowing external access on those wonderful warm days and an adjacent bathroom with shower providing fully accessible facilities.
2 further large bedrooms can be found on the upper floor accessed of the first floor gallery which looks over the main lounge space- 1 very large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom-1 twin bedded room with access to the comfortable 'family' bathroom. The kitchen is extremely well equipped to satisfy even the most demanding cook and links to the large open plan dining and lounge space.
The spectacular double height living/dining room is the heart of this house and gives it its unique character, a truly memorable space in which to spend your evenings relaxing. Large, comfortable sofas and chairs surrounding a large log burner in a feature fireplace provides a great setting for families and friends to meet and chat. The main space is filled with light from the large patio doors and windows. The dining area has a table which easily seats eight people.
Heated by the powerful log burner, supplemented by electric convector heaters in the upstairs rooms this is an ideal property for visiting at all times of the year.

Further details indoors
The barn is beautifully furnished to a very high standard for your comfort and enjoyment. All beds are made up with high quality pretty bedding. All towels and some bathroom toiletries are also provided. There is an ipod docking station available in the large lounge space for you to enjoy your own music. There is also a very large DVD collection and a library of books for your entertainment.
There are shutters on the majority of windows to ensure that the property stays cool on the hottest of days. If necessary, we can arrange for provison of some basic groceries for your arrival (with sufficient notice).
The owners have developed an extensive information file which provides details of all local amenities and activities available in the area to ensure you are able to make the most of your holiday.
Having personally spent many holidays in rented gites and villas, we have tried to provide as much as possible and to think of the small things that will make the experience more enjoyable, including provision of practical items such as a cool box, picnic rugs and beach towels for those trips out. There are also a number of board games, jigsaw puzzles and cards available incase of wet days.
Whilst the main staircase is wonderful, we recommend close attention is paid to younger children whilst using it.
Further details outdoors
There is garden furniture for use by clients-comfortable sun loungers and external dining furniture for those 'al fresco' meals. There are a number of garden games including boules and badminton available for your enjoyment.
There is a large tree at the boundary of the property providing welcome shade during those hot summer months and is an ideal place for having dinner whilst enjoying the views. The large, wellmaintained, external garden space is ideal for casual relaxation or for playing garden games-there is even a tent for clients use for children to have an exciting night outside!
This is a quiet tranquil rural setting within a truly French hamlet, with miles of quiet roads and tree lined winding lanes-ideal for cycling and walking and watching the inquisitive local cows who come to the perimeter of the property in the early morning to meet their new neighbours.

Response from the owner We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at our property. We believe that we attempted to respond to and fully address any issues that arose during your stay. We can also assure you that property had received a full spring clean and was also cleaned prior to you arrival . We believe that the description of the property and photographs displayed on the website are certainly accurate and should enable potential guests to decide whether this is the type of property and location to suit their holiday requirements eg, stone floors on the ground floor and a large open garden. Two local very friendly gentle working farm dogs do indeed call to visit but do not expect feeding (although some of our former guests may give them the odd scrap or two). From memory, you were aware of the size of the TV (yes it is quite small)as you requested this information prior to the visit. Whilst we appreciate that many of our guests live in substantial homes, the description 'large' refers to the double height lounge dining space. We certainly refute the idea that we believe that we have 'kudos' by owning a French property and not wishing to sound defensive, find this quite an insulting remark. Our only aim is to offer good value, good quality attractive accommodation in this beautiful part of rural France........oh and I forgot to mention, we don't provide a nutmeg grater!! And finally, we have only ever had positive comments and constructive feedback in the past.
