A chalet type house in the historic market town of Chatteris (Boudica and UK's best fish n chips!) . Set in the beautiful, bird/water filled Fen lying between Cambridge and Peterborough (30 mins) and 15 mins to Huntingdon (Cromwell) and Ely.

Additional Location Information

The house is next to the Fen at the top of New Road. The Fens have been referred to as the "Holy Land of the English" because of the churches and cathedrals of Ely, Ramsey, Crowland, Thorney and Peterborough. Other significant settlements in the Fens include Cambridge, Boston, Spalding, Wisbech and King's Lynn. The house lies moments from the link road to everywhere. About two miles away is the Outdoor Centre offering water skiing, water sports etc. The guy opposite did the gas and some plumbing, next to him you can purchase fresh duck and chicken eggs and say hello to the horse. It's all very friendly. Town centre is at the other end of the road. People are very friendly, pubs often go beyond closing time! At The George, Saturday night is disco night! Along with the fascinating ancient history, Chatteris bizarrely also boasts the best fish and chip shop in the UK! and a very good Indian restaurant, aswell as the various cafe's, pubs, restaurants and takeaways, including the delightful 'The Old Bakery' Cafe opposite(ish) The Cross Keys Inn, (all old beams, open fire and cosy country pub ethos), near the church of St Peters and St Pauls (also worth a look). Cross the road from the house and you are in the heart of stunning Fenland. Sunsets, birds of prey, water fowl, owls, basically LOTS of birds, butterflies, dragonflies, hedgehogs, historic waterways, the washes, ancient settlements, Boudica, inns, skies, fantastic local produce and luscious growth are some of the beauties to expect. The interconnecting water drainage system takes you all over the fen via beautiful historic villages and market towns. The house sits in a geographically perfect position being 30 mins drive to Cambridge and Peterborough, 20 mins to Huntingdon and Ely and easy access to the Norfolk coast. If you're lucky, on a Saturday afternoon, you may even catch a game of genuine, non millionaire, non league football with Chatteris Town F.C. (The Lillies).
