Mark is a gracious host who had his driver greet us at the airport. After a thorough tour of the beautiful villa and property, Mark promptly drove us to the most reputable scooter rental facility on the island where we easily procured our four scooters for the week; all arranged in advance by Mark. He then had us follow him through Lamai where he pointed out all the best eateries and other stores and services of interest.
After settling in, Mark was always available via text (or phone) to assist with directions and recommendations and to help with whatever else we needed.
The villa is in a secure location and has plenty of room for six, although there were only four of us. The accommodations were quiet, and all the amenities were in excellent condition. The location of the villa itself is excellent, situated between Lamai and Chaweng. We found ourselves moving between both "towns" multiple times per day (which is fun and easy via scooter) for dining, shopping, massages, bars, and other sites to be seen. We explored the entire island by scooter and are definitely not disappointed with our decision to make Koh Samui our primary destination on this Thailand visit.
Villa Lomchoy is an excellent value (and again, a stunning property and structure with spectacular views) and the personal service cannot be beat.

My travel was with my wife , mother n law and my one year old son. The view is the most amazing view you could ever imagine. There
We're a great deal of steps to gain entry into property but after a few days you will adjust. Great for a couples retreat or a gang of friends just to relax and party.

We recently stayed at Villa Lomchoy for just over 3 weeks. We are a family of 4 with 2 young children. It was so perfect for us. The views from every room are simply breathtaking. There are loads of stairs, but this was fine as it was our daily exercise. It's really nice to retreat up the hill to this villa and get away from hustle and bustle down below. So serene and quiet. The pools were great for our family too. Our 5 year old loved the top pool. We had motorbikes so access to everything was super easy. If you were relying on cabs I think it would be difficult. The service was good, our rooms were cleaned every other day. Everything clean and fresh. The rooms are not inter connecting like we thought, but we had a baby monitor and this was no problem. The second bathroom off the lounge we did not use, unfortunately it had a very bad smell, but it's a 3rd world country so these things happen. Mark was great if we needed anything it was only a phone call or email away and it was resolved. Nan (Marks partner) was our Nanny for the 3 weeks. She was brilliant. Our kids were sad when we left and still talk of her. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone and we will be back for sure next year! Read more
Yes, we had a brief problem with the septic system. It has been addressed, and the smell from the downstairs bathroom is all gone.

Mark and the staff were great and ver accomodating. Mark had a driver waiting for us at the airport and gave us door to door service, which is a great way to start a relaxing trip. The view from the property was amazing. The villa is updated and clean and perfectly positioned between Chaweng and Lamai beach.
The only challenge is that he property is at the top of a very steep hill, hence the great view. The location will require you to rent a car or find a driver who is willing to drive up the hill for pick up/drop off. Several taxi drivers will not take you all the way up.
But again, Mark was great and provided several taxi drivers that we worked with during the week. We ended up negotiating a daily rates with some of the drivers vs.negotiating a per ride fee. Tani is the guy we liked the best, super honest and was willing to pick us up pretty late from Chaweng.

Koh Samui was selected as a half way house for a "meet up with our friends from the UK". This was our first visit and both the island and Villa Lomchoy exceeded our expectations.
Mark, the owner was a convivial host and nothing was too much trouble in aiding us to make the best of our time. Taxis(both drivers provided by Mark were absolutely superb. Always on time and taking us to some fabulous places that we would never have seen as a "tourist")and massages were arranged without fuss or dificulty. The free wi fi was definitely a bonus! Local advice on shopping and good local restaurants was taken on board and appreciated.
The quiet location of the villa, at the top of "heart attack" hill worked well for us, alternating between relaxing days around the superb pools with outstanding views and trips to the beaches, shopping or the bars and nightlife of Chaewang and Lamai. Our over 50's group managed to walk down the hill a couple of times and walk up it once! You will need transport but as above it was never an issue.
Cleanliness and amenities were first class and out and about the locals were extremely helpful and friendly.
All in all a great, relaxing time was had by all.

We stayed at Villa Lomchoy over Christmas and New Year and had a great time. It is probably the villa with the best views on the island. We did spend a lot of time enjoying the amazing views from the rooftop terrace. We also did Bbqs there with fresh seafood bought at the local market, highly reccomended!
There is a steep road leading up to the house. We rented a car with the help of Mark, the owner and would not have been without it. You could probably survive walking up and down from the main road a few times but renting a motorbike or a car is really the best way to get up and down and also for touring the beautiful island.
The villa is spacious and can easy accommodate 4 people in the two bedrooms. All rooms are fitted with high end TV and DVD systems which is great for a rainy day.
We had a great stay and can highly reccommend Villa Lomchoy!

The house is very comfortable with a wonderful view. It's very clean, the kitchen fully equipped and the bed very comfortable.
The house in up to the hill close to the main beaches "chaweng" and the beautiful "chaweng noi". There are even lot of restaurant close to.
The house is perfect for families and for all the people who wants to stay in a quiet and relaxing place. You need a car to reach it as the road is very sharp.

Great property that has a tremendous view and ideal location between Lamai and Cheweng. House sleeps 5-6 very comfortably and the amenities provided are everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner, Mark was very helpful with local recommendations, house cleaning, ride to/from airport and arranging scooter and car rental. Last but not least, arranging a couple of days of massages for the house guests was a big win! I would recommend the property.

A group of us recently stayed in Villa Lomchoy for 9 nights, and highly recommend the villa. The views have to be some of the best on the island. There were 5 of us who stayed in the villa, and there was definitely enough room for all of us. Someone stayed in the room with the couch, which worked perfectly since it had its own full bath attached. Although the pools are shared with other guests, you can always also relax on the private balconies of the villa.
I would definitely recommend renting a car or a scooter since the villa is on such a steep hill (hence the view). We had problems finding a taxi that would venture up the hill and the walk is definitely not easy.
Nan and Mark were extremely helpful and provided all of the help we needed. It was nice to have the house cleaned with fresh towels and linens. Mark also gave us so many restaurant recommendations that were right on. They both went out of their way to make us comfortable and ensure we had a positive stay. They even arranged for us to have massages come to the house for around $10 for 60 minutes. You can't beat that!
You are right in the middle of Lamai and Cheweng, which makes it a convenient location. There were some good beaches very close as well which was nice.
Very content with this villa. I love this hilltop!

My wife and I, and our five year old daughter had the time of our lives at this villa, when we visited Samui the end of July, and first week of august, of this year. From the owners, who were very helpful and accomodating, to the location, which was superb, to the views, the level of comfort, and the pools, we were very happy there. The bed in the master was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The furnishings throughout were very tasteful, and functional, and the kitchen was superb. We watched alot of movies, as it was the best home theatre we have ever experienced in a villa, and this is probably the 15th villa we have rented, over the years. We especially liked the roofdeck. We spent alot of time up there, having Bbq's, relaxing with a good book, and enjoying the views, the tropical weather, and the sunshine. Since the internet connection was excellent, I was able to get some work done on the roofdeck, while enjoying both my families company, and the views. It was a very fast connection, as promised. Actually, the fastest I have experienced on Samui, and that is quite important to me. The owners arranged a rented car for us, and we were able to walk across the road to Sandalwood Villas, and eat breakfast, lunch or dinner in their restaurant. We also found alot of wonderful restaurants nearby. I played a couple of rounds at Rsgcc, which is a 9 hole course only a few minutes from the villa. I would heartily recommend this villa, to anyone wanting privacy, peace and quiet, and stunning views of the sea and surroundings.

We loved staying at Villa Lomchoy, during our recent trip to Koh Samui. I play alot of golf, so I enjoyed being 10 minutes away from a very scenic 9 hole course, built on some of the local hilltops. The villa was spacious, and we barely used the aC, since the breezes off the sea were so refreshing. We ate at Sandalwood across the road, as it was only a 3 minute walk to the villa, and a couple of times they delivered food to our door, when we called from our take out menu they provided us. Wonderful food.
The furniture and equipment in the home was far nicer than many of the villas we have stayed in previously, and the bed and mattress in the master bedroom was the most comfortable we have ever encountered in a hotel or villa property. Made a big difference for us, as I suffer from lower back issues.
The home theatre in this home was the best I have ever used, and I am a home theater buff, with a great one at home, so I know my equipment. The sound, and the visuals were incredible, and we could not put a dent in the massive library during out two week stay, despite the fact that I could barely tear the kids away from all the movies they picked out. We spent alot of time of the wonderful roofdeck, as the sea views of Chaweng and the fishing boats was delightful. Also, it was cool and breezy, so we enjoyed alot of rooftop Bbq's.
It is a steep hill to get to this villa, which is the highest villa on the mountain. So, you will need a car or a scooter to get up there. But, we rented a small car, and it was perfect for our stay. The owner was quite helpful, and arranged the car rental, airport pickup, and much more for us, during out stay. We are planning a return trip later this year, and highly recommend Villa Lomchoy.

I recently stayed here from December 24th till the 1st of Jan 2011 and this was the highlight of the trip. Mark is a gracious host and was very helpful with everything that we needed from transportation, places to eat, local bars, etc. I would highly recomend this place to anyone wanting to get away from the usual high end hotels...this place is just awesome!!!
Mark was so cool that he let us crash his New Years party...this was one of the best new years bash that I have experienced, I would do this again next year!!!
The house its self is great and very private, a great place to retreat to...and just enjoy the view. There is a golf course nearby and I did play on the course 3 times. It was just fantastic... for those wanting to get away from the usual hotels, packages, etc this is the way to go!!!

The owner of this property couldn't be more gracious, helpful, and friendly and his advice and generosity made our stay incredibly enjoyable.
The location provides a beautiful balance of both serenity and isolation with close proximity to the bustling nightlife of two nearby towns. If you choose to spend your nights in - there's enough high end home media equipment and movies available to pass the nights away quietly. The view from the rooftop balcony is breathtaking and a perfect spot to grill up some enormous and delicious shrimp bought at the local market.
Getting to the top of the hill without scooters or a rental car (or the owner will provide you with the number of a reliable taxi driver) could be a challenge - so definitely make sure you get some transportation. But once again - the owner went out of his way and spent a great deal of time ensuring that we were introduced to both friendly and honest businesses that rented us the transportation we needed.
Absolutely loved our time there and the peace of mind that came with it and would gladly recommend this house (or any other place this owner is involved with) as a fantastic option in beautiful Koh Samui.
Wonderful vacation in a private location with an amazing view

Home owner is extremely gracious and helpful for travelers new to the island. The house is fantastic if you want to stay away from town-noise and have private parties with your friends. Still the house is close enough to two island party towns to be minutes away from bustling activity. The house is comfortable and quiet for rest and is very close to a spectacular 9 hole golf course.
House is up the side of a small mountain so I would not recommend for invalids or handicapped persons. Healthy persons used to flat areas will get a good work out if they choose to walk up or down the mountain instead of ride a vehicle.

My stay at Villa Lomchoy was nothing less then spectacular. The stunning 180 degree views and the hilltop seclusion of the house was exactly what we were hoping for. Add to it all the beautiful views of the ocean, watching sunrise on the horizion, and it was simply amazing. My wife and I shopped at the central market in Lamai, and picked up a kilo of giant prawns. We cooked them on the roofdeck barbeque, and then washed them down with cold Singhas. What a delight! We will be looking forward to staying there again.

visited with three friends in December 2009, and Koh Samui, Thailand, was our first stop. I found Villa Lomchoy on google before travelling, and emailed the owner if the Villa was available from December 15-26. I received an almost immediate response, and the pictures of the Villa were exactly like the ones I brought home as souvenirs. As our first stop in Thailand, the owner sent his cab driver to pick us up at the airport--no need to worry about arranging our own transportation to the Villa. When we arrived, the views were breathtaking. The Villa's pools (yes, there are two of them) were so inviting, we could hardly resist jumping in at first sight. In busy Koh Samui, Villa Lomchoy is a pure oasis. Even with a group of four people travelling (all in our 30s to 40s), there was plenty of space at the Villa to relax and spread out -- the rooftop was the best for the Samui sunsets. The rooms were air-conditioned and the bathrooms (yes, there are two of them) are very modern and westernized. The owner even gave us tips on the best restaurants in town, especially the ones where all the tourists won't be found. The free-internet was great for catching up on emails. I couldn't have asked for anything more!

I took a chance and booked a stay during December last year, at this two story Villa in Chaweng in Koh Samui, Thailand. My wife and I have stayed at several of the extremely high end resorts in Koh Samui on past trips, this time we thought we might rent a house/villa for a different feel. We were blown away by the sheer elegance of this villa located at the very top of the hill between Lamai and Chaweng. Two gorgeous pools both with unobstructed sea view, also unobstructed rooftop perfect for barbecues and relaxing. I have never seen a view like this villa has. You will not be disapointed, this is the ultimate destination within paradise. Best home theatre system I have ever seen, completely stocked with over one thousand dvd's. First class resturant across the main road.
