“Ideal family country cottage” Perfect location for exploring the surrounding area, within sight of The Roaches; Reservoir, Adventure Playground and good food served at the Lazy Trout Pub, all within walking distance. The cottage was ideal for our family of 12 ranging from 18mths to over 60! A warm welcome was given by the owners, nothing was too much trouble, everything we needed was availble. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend, celebrating a 40th Birthday, even the weather was on our side!

“Interesting hideaway” We stayed here as a family group and found we had everything we needed. It was a little bit difficult to find - 2 of the 3 groups of us got lost on the way there. The parking for 3 cars was a bit of a squeeze but we managed. It's a lovely house with an interesting history and it's fun to see the 'Homes under the Hammer' video. There is some lovely countryside nearby and we enjoyed a walk to Lud's Church and The Roaches.

“An all round first class house and location.” Indoor facilities first class. Bags of space without ten of us "living on top of each other" Good pub doing huge meals at good prices only walking distance away. The week we were at Ipstones was not good but the log fire with no restrictions on use of logs was a first class bonus. No shortage of facilities in the catering - loads of cooking utensils and glasses etc. All ion all a very pleasurable and memorable stay.

Terrific attention to detail.

Lovely friendly owner. Nothing to much trouble, Spotlessly clean. Comfy bed. Extra touches lifted to a different class. Things like freshly baked loaf on arrival Homemade preserves. Local soaps . And the most important a really nice bottle of Prosecco, Hubby does not drink so had it to myself. Happy days. Thank you Diane. Gail and Paddy.see more
Gun End Cottage, Swythamley
A lovely house in a scenic location

Gun End Cottage is a lovely comfortable house set in pretty countryside. Spacious enough for 8 people plus toddler. The only slight drawback we found was the distance to the downstairs bathroom from the ground floor bedroom but only because my husband is disabled and needs assistance when walking. It wouldn't really be a problem for somebody with mild mobility problems. However we managed and still enjoyed our week there very much.see more

PEACEFUL & RELAXING

Lovely cottage clean and comfortable, well equipped with everything you need. Warm friendly greeting from the family. Good centre for touring the Peak District. Lovely pubs serving delicious food a short drive away. Several cycle trails on disused railway lines for safe cycling. To top it all we had beautiful weather during our stay an extra bonus. see more

Absolutely wonderful

This is truly a home from home and more. Pauline and Stuart are the consumate hosts, warm, inviting, friendly, knowledgable and non intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they make you feel completely comfortable. The accommodation is 5* - spotlessly clean, exceptionally well equipped and supremely comfortable.
