FULL COTTAGE RENTAL AND NO SHARING WITH STRANGERS
We have recently refurbished the cottage. The decor is neutral and furnishing nothing far-fetched. The cottages have the feel of a middle class Indian family home located in the midst of a rural, traditional fisherman's village. It is a unpretentious cottage with all basic amenities and a cosy feel. This cottage is one of two on the beachfront (as seen in the photographs). This one has two bedrooms, one shared bathroom, living room, dining room and a kitchen. We can add extra beds in the living room and then this property sleeps 6 people in comfort.
Only breakfast is inclusive!! Our caretaker doubles as a cook.
If you would like Lunch and Dinner in traditional Kerala style then do let us know before arrival.
Wifi available for the use of our guests.
Breakfast Menu: Eggs, bread, tea, coffee, jam and butter.
Dinner and Lunch (Cost Extra and not inclusive in price)
Menu: Vegetarian dish, Non-vegetarian dish, Rice, Local bread and salad.
All the food is procured locally, is organic and cooked in traditional Kerala style.
Area Description: The cottage is in a rural setting. The public beach is a mile away; we are located in the middle of a fisherman's village and have a traditional church opposite our cottage. We have nearly 100 meters of beach frontage (depending on Tide). Please do keep in mind in that the months of June, July and August are Monsoon months, and beach area reduced (The photo of a Guest with a local fisherman, was taken in month of Aug’ 2015 and gives an idea of beach during low tide in monsoon month) During this time the sea can be a bit rough, and we always strongly suggest use of public beach with life guard.

Additional Location Information
The 10 kilometre long Cherai Beach in Kochin, Kerala is amongst the best golden sand beaches in India and rightly known as “The Princess of the Arabian sea.
The public beach is calm and is ideal for sunbathing and taking a dip in the warm waters of the Arabian Sea. There is always an opportunity for beach volley ball. The newly enhanced public beach with its walkway and high mast lamps makes for an enjoyable and memorable evening stroll.
A couple of hundred meters from the beach lie the beautiful and scenic backwaters of the Periyaar River with its multitude of swaying coconut groves, antiquated fishing villages and traditional Chinese nets.
Our property is approximately one mile from the public beach with its own private beach front. Here you can enjoy breathtakingly beautiful sunsets and sea views. Dolphins are frequently seen here especially early morning.

Me and friends booked both of the cottages. Both have their plus points. Cottage one has a lovely patio while cottage two has a lovely terrace where one can sit back and relax and enjoy the sea view and cool breeze of the lovely arabian Sea.The best feature was the beach and the lovely warm waters. Thinking about it wants me to go back.
We used this as our base to travel Kerala. We went to Munnar, Thekkaddy, Alleppey and many other destinations. The best past is we got everything arranged with these fellas.
In my opinion if you looking for a bit of peace and quiet after a chaotic two months of travelling India then this is the place to sit back and recharge and enjoy the Kerala countryside.
One thing i did not like about Kerala is the use of loudspeakers by churches etc as they start their sermons early in the morning. And this is aproblem we faced at most destinations we went too including here. But then we were told it is Easter and it only happens for Easter weekend like Good Friday and Easter Monday. Well i think that is when we got the worse of it so best to avoid Easter Bank holiday and Good Friday.
Well about the cottages. Clean, Tidy and well placed. Transport will need to be arranged with caretaker and best to let him know the night before. Or can walk down a mile to the local bus stop or to be at the public beach where you can pick up transport.
Food was simply excellent. Simplistic, organic and local cooked by the property cook. Would suggest you take the food as we did not for the first week and it was not easy and then getting the cook was difficult as she was booked with the another cottage.
Would definitely go back if i visit India again.
Best of Luck

Me and my mates visited Kerala in 2008 and our first visit to Cherai beach was awesome. Nice clean beaches and rustic surroundings, natural beauty. The house we rented on the beach was nice and a good bargain. Since then my parents have been there and so has been my brother and his fiance.
I recommend the place if you like a real experience and like me wants to see the real culture and live amongst the local population.
My father did get a bit bored but then he likes his Hotels and Luxury while my mother loved it.
Takes a couple of days to get used to it, but then there is lots to do in Cochi and Fort Kochi, get a car rental where you can as very cheap if booked in advance
Give my regards to the caretaker if you visit and hope my review is of help to you.

I'm one of the people in the beach photograph. It was taken a few years ago but i have returned 3 times back to the same cottage in the past 5 years. The place is lovely and has been well maintained over the years. I find this to be a perfect place to sit back and Relax and forget about the rat race and it gives me time to forget about my high pressure work in the City. Prefer this to the hotels and other places as it feels like home, get the whole place to myself with the beach right outside the door step. Pleasant people and peaceful and serene place.
I would recommend this to anybody who likes a bit of rustic living, wants to enjoy the quiet and peace of the countryside and is willing to forget city life for a few days/ weeks. It does take a day or two to get used to the place so wold recommend at least a week if not more. Enjoy :-)
Must add was slightly disappointed last time as they have changed the caretaker but the new one is brilliant too, And don't forget to take lots of books and boardgames.
Dear Mr Greg
As usual it was a pleasure to have you at our cottage and we look forward to welcoming you and your friends to Kerala very soon. We would also like to thank you for your generous feedback.
