Tucked between the villages of Gaiole and Radda in Chianti in the heart of Tuscany, Cavalcanti offers the privacy of a villa and the amenities of a larger estate. As part of the restored hamlet of Castello di San Donato in Perano, the three-bedroom property is surrounded by vineyards, a 10th-century castle and a church, among other historic buildings.
The restored stone farmhouse has its own outdoor spaces as well as access to shared gardens and a pool. Cook service or cooking lessons are available at extra cost, and you can enjoy the results al fresco on the spacious terrace under a pergola. The shared gardens and pool have spectacular views of the surrounding hills and vineyards, and plenty of chaise longues from which to enjoy them.
Cavalcanti’s interiors have been restored to offer bright, breezy luxury. High, beamed ceilings, white walls and a combination living and dining room create an open atmosphere, and sofas in a ticking stripe add to the relaxed, casual feel. On cooler nights, you’ll appreciate the wood-burning fireplaces in the living room and kitchen. The kitchen itself is just as open and modern, with sleek stainless steel appliances and an elegant Murano-style chandelier.
The villa’s three bedrooms are equally bright and airy, and can accommodate up to six guests. There are two bedrooms with double beds and en-suite bathrooms with jet tubs and separate showers; one of the bedrooms also has a walk-in closet. The third bedroom has two twin beds and an en-suite bathroom.
During your stay, you can relax at the villa or use it as a base to explore the Chianti region. For practical matters, a bank and post office are just 4 miles away in the village of Gaiole. If you’d like to do some sightseeing, Cavalcanti is 17 miles from Siena, 25 miles from the famed towers of San Gimignano and 37 miles from Florence.

The villa was exactly what we were expecting. San Donato in Perano is a lovely place in Chianti and the villa is beautiful, surrounded by vineyards. Privacy was an important aspect to this villa. The view from the pool area was amazing as well as the sunsets from the other side of the buildings. The closest little town, Gaiole in Chianti, was very helpful for grocery shopping and restaurants. The stay in Cavalcanti villa was truly an unforgettable experience. - Keyla B., ,

We were impressed as we drove up the drive to the villa at the expanse of the property. The first thing you see is the lovely terraced area. Once you walk inside you are wowed\" by the size of the villa, the fully equipped kitchen, the roominess of the bedrooms and baths and how clean everything was.. Ida was delightful and very helpful. At the end of long sightseeing days it was very relaxing to come back to the villa. It was wonderful coming back two evenings to Graziella cooking a fabulous dinner for the four of us. All in all it was a great week. \" - Anthony V., Pennsylvania, USA

The villa is very well furnished and very comfortable. I was disappointed that the housekeeper/cook couldn't speak a word of English (not 1 word), so my hopes of having her do any cooking (one of the reasons we chose this villa -- so we could have someone make a couple "dinners at home" for us, never happened. The other thing that should be looked at is that if you use the stove and the toaster at the same time, the electricity for the entire place goes out and there is no one to call and nothing to do except wait until the next day when the housekeeper comes to have her put it back on. This happened when we were cooking dinner one night and we had to wait all night until the next day. Thank goodness, it happened on a night when she was going to be there the next morning. There were 2 numbers provided at the house in case this happened, but neither of them worked. Nor did the housekeeper answer her phone (plus, she doesn't speak any English, so we couldn't have told her what was wrong to begin with). Other than this, the villa was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and the couple from England who shared it with us enjoyed it as well.
