Somnia offers guests a home from home get away on the South Coast of the amazing Island of Barbados. Situated only 5 minutes walk from stunning beaches, restaurants, cafes and bars, Somnia is a charming older style house with a wood upper level and brick lower level. The guest bedroom is on the upper level with an en suite bathroom complete with rain shower and double sink vanity. The bedroom benefits from a double aspect and a queen bed with plenty of wardrobe space. Also on the upper level is a second small guest bedroom and bathroom which is only offered to guests of the main bedroom who require an additional bed. This second bedroom is suitable for a single person or couple who are happy with bijoux bedroom space. The owners accommodation is situated on the ground floor. The open plan kitchen is also on the upper floor as are the living and dining areas and a large semi covered deck with views to the sea with Adirondack chairs, a hammock, BBQ and a patio style table with umbrella and chairs for al fresco breakfasts.
The house is nestled within lush tropical gardens and is situated at the end of a cul de sac in a convenient residential area close to all amenities.
Outside is a separate laundry room which guests can use if necessary. The property is positioned on a small ridge which overlooks the busy little village of St. Matthias and the Church which rings in the morning sun as it rises and the sea beyond. The deck is an ideal spot for people watching as well as enjoying the entertaining antics of a monkey troop who usually pass through the neighborhood as well as wild parrots and the ever present humming birds who visit the feeder on the deck.
Our family includes 2 small dogs named Soggy and Poppy and 2 cats called Charlie and Tigger. We do not allow the pets in the bedroom areas.
As restaurateurs, we work during the day a short distance from Somnia. Guests have the use of the upper level including the kitchen. A self serve continental style breakfast is provided in the refrigerator each day and includes fresh fruit and juices with baked breads, pastries cheese etc.
The Boardwalk runs for 1 km along the seafront and is located 5 minutes walk away with excellent beaches and swimming, restaurants, cafes and bars located along the entire seafront. Public buses are easily available and within a few minutes walk. Of particular interest is the UNESCO World Heritage Site – The Historic Garrison area is 10 minutes walk with its museum, buildings of architectural and historic interest as well the popular Horse Race track and this is where our restaurant is located at The George Washington House. There are also numerous hotels and venues which offer live music and entertainment in the area. The area is also a known for nesting of protected turtles so visitors can sometimes see hatchling turtles making their way across the sand to the sea.
Somnia means dreams. Guests, friends and family alike love our home for its unique artistic flare with touches of the Mediterranean and the Caribbean everywhere. "Great location and wonderful hosts for first timers to Barbados"

We were welcomed at the airport by Caroline and Neville a big plus if you have never been to Barbados before! They are just like old friends, very accommodating.
The suite is spacious, private, the owners live down below and just come up to use the kitchen, Impeccably clean.
Neville and Caronline are wonderful people to introduce pu to Barbadian Life and one day they even offered to take us sight seeing, which was wonderful as we did not have a car.
Everything is easy walking ,good swimming beaches, buses run often to take you around the island.
We would highly recommend this B&B; , very reasonably priced and in a great area.
Bonus is they serve wonderful coffee and cakes as they also sell their goods at the local weekend markets.
You will not be disappointed,

We run our own business in the UK and were in need of a relaxing, stress free holiday.
I have to be honest i was quite anxious about staying in someones home instead of a hotel but, we did a hotel last year and although it was lovely, we didn't really 'experience' Barbados beyond being a 'tourist'.
Eventually we found this accommodation and the lovely hosts- Neville and Caroline.
What lovely people!
The house was very well set out. It was really homely and the bedroom room was simplistic and beautiful with a cosy bed- with its own bathroom.
The view from the windows was fascinating. You really get a glimpse of traditional Barbados lifestyles and then out to where the sea meets the sky-stunning.
The atmosphere in the house is so relaxed- with the most amazing decking area on the first floor with seating and a hammock where you just watch the world go by.
Caroline is a brilliant, versatile cook-especially breakfast, you could choose or she would surprise you. Neville kept the coffee flowing.
They know the island and its hideaways really well and helped us to hire a local car.
To sum up the trip,
We experienced the real Barbados, went to local restaurants, drank in local bars, sat with locals on the beach.
Neville and Caroline ensured that nothing was too much trouble, we chilled out more and more each day and we were under no pressure they just want you to enjoy your well earned break.
