The US Virgin Islands are a Territory. What does that mean for travel?
Getting to the USVI: When traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands, U.S. citizens enjoy all the conveniences of domestic travel: as a United States Territory, travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands does not require a passport from U.S. citizens arriving from Puerto Rico or the U.S. mainland. Entry requirements for non-U.S. citizens are the same as for entering the United States from any foreign destination.
Leaving the USVI: Upon departure, a passport is required for all but U.S. citizens. For U.S Citizens that don't have a passport, you can provide proof of citizenship travel with a certified birth certificate and photo ID. Non U.S. citizens who are permanent residents need to show a certificate of alien registration or green card upon leaving the territory.
Should I Get a Car?
Taxis are available on the island, with flat rates available online at stcroixtaxi. It usually costs about $30-$40 for a private taxi from the airport to the condo, or you can wait for shared taxi. However, getting a rental car for at least part of your stay in order to get around the island is economical and recommended. If you have concerns please ask us and we'd be happy to answer any questions.
Motorists drive on the left side of the street but the cars are "typical" U.S. layout cars (driver on the left side).. All U.S. drivers can drive for up to 90 days with a current driver's license. Driver and front seat passengers must wear seat belts at all times.
Where can I rent a car?
There are many rental car companies on St. Croix; Hertz and Avis are on-site at the airport. Other car companies will also meet you or deliver your car to you wherever you would like (either at the airport, or to the condo).

We had a fabulous stay at your condo! My husband did the St Croix Ironman so we wanted a place that was close enough to race venue without being right in Christiansted, and had a kitchen. This turned out to be an excellent choice!
From an athlete's perspective, the location was ideal. It was about 15 minutes to race venue, and easy to get to. The kitchen was fully equipped and we cooked 2 out of 3 meals per day here. 2 grocery stores are right on the way from Christiansted to the condo, making stopping off for groceries very convenient. It is very quiet, so napping and sleeping were no problem. If you are coming to St Croix for an event of this kind, this is a great place to stay.
After the race, we had 3 days to relax and enjoy the area and just hanging out in the condo. Our welcome packet, sent well ahead of our stay, had everything we needed to orient ourselves before we arrived. The condo was very clean, and well maintained. The décor is delightful, sunny, island type décor with bright colors, rattan type furniture. Plenty of room to move around the condo and relax in the living room, the back patio, or set up your laptop at the kitchen bar or dining table. We stayed in the master bedroom and the bed was very comfortable.
The back patio is quite large, with plenty of seating to enjoy the outdoors. The back patio faces the water, which is a short walk from the condo. You can see the water through the beautiful palm trees from the back patio.
If you like to sunbathe on the beach, there are chairs available at the condo's beachfront. If you'd rather sunbathe by a pool, there is plenty of seating at the pool. The pool is quite large if you want to get some swimming in. We swam in the ocean in front of the hotel just North of the condo.
The location on the island is ideal, and we explored the island from East to West. Everything was easy to get to from the condo's location.
We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I along with another couple rented Richelle's condo at Pelican cove the first week in February. We had a fabulous time. The rental procedure was super easy and Richelle answered all,of our question since this was our first trip to St Croix.
Prior to arrival we received a PDF of information in how to get to the condo, check in process, local grocery stores and places to eat. The condo is about a 15 minute drive from the airport and the directions were very precise which was nice since we arrived late in the evening.
When we arrived, we found the condo clean and well stocked. The master bedroom opens up to a patio overlooking a grassy area that leads to the beach. We didn't have to have the air conditioning on the entire time we were there due to the wonderful breeze coming off the ocean.
We quickly settled in and walked over to the Palms resort to get a bite to eat. The condo is central located on the island. Each day we traveled to a different part of the island to explore. We used the cooler, beach chairs, and towels provided by Richelle. It was fantastic that we didn't have to pack those items with us.
The kitchen is fully stocked with any type of cooking utensil you may need. We would make breakfast in the morning and have coffee on the patio. One evening we purchased some local fish and grilled it on the BBQ.
The only drawback is the beach if you are looking for a swimmable beach. The beach here is very rocky (coral reef and shallow) but the condo association has a nice pool that we would relax around each evening.
I would definitely recommend in getting a car if you want to see the island. It is such a diverse island with so many beautiful beaches. The people are friendly. My husband I are looking forward to going back next year to stay for two weeks.

This was a wonderful vacation. When we got to the condo we found a clean, well stocked home base where we could relax, hang out, and enjoy a tropical drink or two between adventures around the island. It is located on the same property as the resort so it was easy to walk over to ask for assistance or grab a meal when we didn't want an evening out. The residents are friendly and the island small enough to navigate easily. We found some beach yoga classes, did some scuba diving and swimming, and a little shopping and sightseeing as well. All in all, a lovely relaxing vacation.
The free wifi was great. All our cell phones had good service on the island except for the one Verizon phone but it was nice to also have the wifi option for the iPad.

The accomodations are clean, well-kept and comfortable. The view, the pool and the beach are all very nice. I really enjoyed exploring historic Christiansted and tracing the early steps of alexander Hamilton and Christopher Columbus.

Dolphin's Paradise and St. Croix were so lovely that I had to come back for another vacation. I've stayed here twice now, and wouldn't hesitate to book it again. The owner was very easy to work with and provided lots of information before we got there so we knew exactly what to bring and what to expect.
This is a very spacious and well-appointed comfortable condo; the well stocked kitchen made it easy to eat in when we wanted to. The owner has provided lots of extras as well, which was wonderful to not have to pack: snorkel gear, beach towels, coolers, ...
Having the condo on the first floor made it very easy to move in and out without climbing stairs which is a big bonus for my husband. The views from the patio were spectacular and what a wonderful swimming pool. I loved the picturesque beach; it was a terrific place to spend time painting and indulging my photography hobby or relaxing with a Mango Daiquiri.
There are wonderful restaurants, snorkeling, and beaches to visit along with many historical sites on St. Croix. This trip we came down during the St. Croix Food and Wine Experience, which was simply incredible. We enjoyed a wonderful blend of complete relaxation, great food and lots of sun.
I'm already planning my next trip - taking our very good friends with us to enjoy the island.
