“Excellent stay and Owners were the Best” My wife and children rented a property from Brad for our family trip to Yellowstone. Brad made us feel at home and was willing to make our stay the best it could be.

About Cody

Are you a fan of the ol' Wild West? This is the place for you!

Be transported back to the days of Stetsons, spurs and honky-tonk pianos when you visit Cody, Wyoming.

Whether you want to stay on a ranch, in a condo or a luxury apartment, FlipKey has the perfect vacation rental for you and your family.

About Cody, Wyoming

Found in northwest Wyoming, Cody is still heavily influenced by the cowboy days of yesteryear.

Rodeos are an important part of the town calendar—it's even been nicknamed the rodeo capital of the world! If you come in the summer, be sure to check one out.

The town itself is named after Colonel William Frederick Cody—perhaps better known as 'Buffalo Bill'. He helped found the original town and is, perhaps, the most famous cowboy (apart from John Wayne, of course).

Though Bill hunted bison, not buffalo, there's no denying the influence he had on this town. See what you can discover about its past during your stay here.

However, there's much more to Cody than it's past—it's also an area of natural beauty. As you drive into town, you'll see the Shoshone River flowing through a deep canyon. And, the surrounding forests edge things off nicely.

What to do

Go to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, where you'll find out all about—you guessed it—Buffalo Bill! But, don't worry, there are other museums too.

There’s the Draper Natural History Museum, the Plains Indians Museum, Cody Firearms Museum and Whitney Western Art museum at the same complex, but you may want to take a couple of days to do them all.

Visit Old Trail Town to find out more about the area's history—it's an accurate restoration of over 25 historic Western buildings and is great fun to explore!

Not too far away lies Yellowstone National Park—the world's first national park. Watch the water spout out of Old Faithful and other geysers. And, see if you can spot any of the locals—grizzlies, wolves and elk are all known to roam these parts.

Cody isn't only good in the summer. The winter has lots to offer too. Go on snowmobile tours, ice skate in Homesteader Park, try your hand at ice climbing or head further up the mountain for skiing.

Top travel tips

Are you flying in? You'll probably arrive at Yellowstone Regional Airport. It's worth renting a car from there so you can explore the entire area!

Thanks to its semi-arid climate, the weather varies quite a lot throughout the year. It's almost always windy, so bring a sweater or two.

Explore the stomping ground of legendary cowboy Buffalo Bill and have an exciting adventure in Cody, Wyoming. Book your vacation rental now on FlipKey to make sure you don't miss out!

Mountain View Lodge
Amenities are not as advertised

The cabin is beautiful and well kept, but unfortunately we did not get what we thought we were getting based on the "The description from the owner" and the "Additional notes from the owner" found on FlipKey and the lack of a quick response and clarity from emails. The description on FlipKey from the owner makes it sound like you automatically book the "Lodge" with 3 queen beds, the kitchen, and the washer and dryer and then add one of the other suites or both. No where does it mention that the other two suites have their own kitchens but no washer/dryer access. When we arrived, it was much to our surprise that we were given the two suites with no washer/dryer access and not the Lodge, one of the main reasons we booked this site. We also didn't realize that we had to notify not only the owner (which we did) but also FlipKey on the first night (we arrived at 10:30 PM) of these discrepancies for the Peace of Mind Guarantee to apply . While the description was not accurate or clear, they did do their best to accommodate our needs and we would recommend this place to others as long as you understand you don't get to choose which suite you desire when you make your reservations through FlipKey. FlipKey only shows pictures of the Lodge not the additional two suites and only the Lodge has the washer/dryer access, larger kitchen, fire place, and patio with the fire pit.see more
