Nestled in the foothills along spring fed Whit Creek, this easily accessible, yet private 22 acre property lies halfway between Cody and the East entrance of Yellowstone Park, on the "50 most scenic miles in the U.S.A.", according to Charles Kerault and/or Teddy Roosevelt.
Five acres are fenced for horses and the creek runs through it, surrounded by a cottonwood, willow, juniper and sage forest. Horse property includes a loafing shed and manger, hay storage, fenced corral, arena and saddling station.
Circular, pull through driveway surrounds a fire pit, fruit trees and green lawn surrounds the entire house, with evergreens and aspens and a large picnic table.
During the prohibition era, Whit Creek was a mecca for moonshiners, among them, Jack Spicer, who was renowned for his brand of moonshine liquor, due in part to the quality of the spring fed water. Coincidentally, Jack was killed in a gunfight on April 1, 1933, the same year that prohibition ended.
For hunters, it was a favorite spot to camp out, along the creek, before heading into the higher ground. We discovered "ancient" artifacts; ie, washboards, rusted cooking utensils and a lot of old tins and bottles, slightly buried next to the lower creek area.

This property is unique in that we have an abundance of birds and wildlife that frequent the Whit Creek eco system. Animals include fox, raccoons, mule deer, grizzly and black bear and an occasional moose. A BIRDER'S PARADISE, you can view: Lazuli buntings, yellow tanagers, western meadowlarks, red shafted flickers, mountain blue birds (we have several houses that they frequent annually), Caliope and Rufus hummingbirds, pink sided juncos...to name but a few. You can view these birds close-up from the upstairs (one way windows) without disturbing them.
We LOVE pets as long as they're not allowed to chase the deer, fox and other wildlife! Please keep your pets under control and please do not hunt from our home. Owners of small pets, beware of predators; ie, bald eagles and owls, fox, coyotes and wolves. There is a large kennel with an insulated "dog house" that you can lock if you wish.
We hope that you enjoy your vacation at our home and come back as "repeat offenders" where a special discount will be available.
Many good wishes! WYOMING: "Like no place on earth!"
HAPPY TRAILS! MAY THE ROAD RISE UP TO MEET YOU!
