Designed in the middle of the 20th century as a holiday retreat for an important Milanese family, Vista Colico sits on a vast piece of terrain measuring 30,000 square meters (7.5 acres) in size. The estate is completely enclosed and slopes down to the lake where there is a small private beach, whose existence is dependent on the water level. Hardy walkers can follow a trail down to the lake. This is a par course trail that winds down through the trees and has various pieces of fitness equipment clustered along it. It ends with a welcoming hammock at the lake’s edge where the clean lake water beckons for a swim.
This villa rents from SATURDAY to SATURDAY.
Vista Colico may also be rented for up to 12 guests as Vista Colico 12.
The owner also rents the villa for smaller groups which is our offering here, Vista Colico 8. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms are available and eight is the maximum number of guests permitted.
Vista Colico’s location is on the northeastern shore of Lake Como, which is wide and expansive. The lake and mountain views are dramatic with the Italian and Swiss Alps figuring majestically right before you. St. Moritz is within easy striking distance for a pleasant day trip. The town of Colico with ferry berth is at 7 km. There is a small hamlet within walking distance of the villa, which offers an excellent restaurant.
The views, the light and the strong relationship between the house interior and nature are significant attributes of this Bauhaus style villa. The Bauhaus school of architecture is one of the most influential currents in Modernist architecture and design. Its ideas are featured here and incorporate simplified forms with large glass panes and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
The wood paneled ceilings, stone floors, clean lines, pure use of color and the extension of space around and beyond the interiors attest to the fact that “Less is More”.
Brilliant views greet you when you enter Vista Colico as the lake can be seen from every room in the villa. The decor boasts fine pieces of design furniture that have also been designed for comfort.
The house focuses on entertainment with a large living and dining room that lead outside to the panoramic terrace, the perfect setting for sunset cocktails and outdoor dining.
Vista Colico is an ideal villa for those seeking a very special experience.
The house develops on three levels:
At the entrance level there is a fully equipped kitchen with large windows, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, oven, microwave and American coffee maker. There is a guest bathroom with toilet and sink, and a single bedroom with lake view and an extra pull out bed. On this level, there is also a double bedroom with lake view and en suite bathroom with shower, and a laundry room with washing machine.
Ten steps down is the dining room with lake view and table for 12 people and a working fireplace.
Six steps further down is the living room and social areas with large comfortable sofas and wide screen TV. The floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to the outside. These tall windows are also welcoming in the winter as they provide a bright and warm space. In the summer, you need only open up the doors to enjoy the terrific views and fresh breeze.
