Villa Luce was designed in the middle of the 20th century as a holiday retreat for an important Milanese family. The villa sits on a gated sloped land of 30.000 sqm (7.4 acres) and enjoys a glorious view of the lake and the mountains beyond. The view, the light and the strong relationship between nature and the villa interiors are the main features of this stunning property.
It's modern architectural style was inspired by the design ideas of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Villa Luce is a work of art, with its modern design, wood panelled ceilings, stone floors, clear lines and simple forms. The outdoor walls are made of glass, allowing nature and light to envelop the interior space. Outdoor are large terraces and areas for relaxing.
Located on the northeast shore of Lake Como, the villa has panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Upon entering you are greeted with the breathtaking lake view that can be seen from every room in the villa. The house focuses on entertainment, with a large living and dining room that leads to a panoramic terrace, the perfect setting for outdoor dining and for enjoying the sunset. There are ping pong, table football, badminton and volleyball facilities available on site. The hot tub and the pool are at the top of the property so guests can relax in the water looking over the azure waters of Lake Como.
The area is a hub for water sports such as sailing, wind surfing and canoeing, and many other possibilities of outdoor activities for all ages including hicking, tennis, nature trails and winter skying. Set in a landscape of exceptional beauty at the top of the small Olgiasca peninsula is the nearby Abbey of Piona. It is a must see.
Colico is 7 km north and offers many kinds of shops, including a shopping center. The small town of Colico has an efficient navigation service and you can move around easily on board boats, ferries or steamers: several boats and hydrofoils per day travel all the way up the lake from Como to Colico stopping at most of the towns en-route (approx. 1 hr 30 min from Colico to Como by ferry). Colico also has a railway station and you can reach Milan by train in one and a half hours. Varenna is 14 km away and here you can visit Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi. The car ferry operates from Varenna to Bellagio and Menaggio. The Moto Guzzi Museum in Mandello is 25 km from the property.
Lovers of Alps landscapes can reach Madesimo (approx. 50 min by car / 59 km) on the road to the Swiss Splügen pass (60 km). It is also possible to visit St. Moritz and Engadina Valley by train: from Piona it is possible to take the ‘Bernina Express’. The UNESCO World Heritage railway of the ‘Bernina Express’ will take you through St. Moritz and some of Europe's highest and wildest mountain scenery across the border of Italy. In St. Moritz it is possible to see the legendary ‘Glacier Express’, the most famous railway in the world: an express train crossing the Swiss Alps, one of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps past stunning mountain scenery, waterfalls, ravines and rivers.
Additional amenities include: ping pong table, volley ball area, 4-ring gas hob, park-garden with different relax and sprt areas, badminton, bbq area with covered terrace, satellite TV in each bedroom, filter coffee machine, table football, hot jacuzzi tub....Read more
