“Spectacular sunrises, sunsets with a fabulous view! Doesn't get”
This was our first trip to the Virgin Islands. We chose St. John and Waterlemon Villa! When we arrived at Waterlemon Villa, we were all blown away by the view; it was exactly what the pictures show. It didn't matter where you stood or where you sat, there was always a phenomenal view. The villa itself was beautiful! It had a very fresh and Caribbean feel to it - exactly what you would expect to find. The colors of blue that are used to accessorize the villa blend into the colors of the sky and the water. The kitchen was well furnished - we love to cook and were very pleased with all the cooking utensils and cookware. There was also a grill that we used - with a great view of course. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished, and bathrooms had hair dryers, plush towels, and the outdoor showers were amazing! The pool and pool area were also beautiful - again the view while in the pool was amazing! The drive up and down the mountain was always fun and somewhat of an adventure. The owner of the villa is a wonderful individual and great to work with as was the management company. If you are looking for a beautiful view and a beautiful house - this is the place for you! Oh, and the snorkeling...Fabulous!
“World-class view, totally comfortable house”
Waterlemon Villa is a wonderful base of operations for visitors to Saint John. The house is clean and well kept; the kitchen is fully-equipped for meal making; the beds are super comfortable; and even the showers have fantastic views. The house is located in Coral Bay, which is on the quieter side of the island. That's not a disadvantage--there were plenty of markets and restaurants right nearby, access to Northshore beaches was easy, and we absolutely preferred Coral Bay to the busier/more hectic Cruz Bay. We didn't have any problems with our stay, and our few questions were promptly answered by the property manager. The only two downsides to staying at Waterlemon Villa? The 'side street' leading to the house was terrifyingly steep, although that's typical of driving in St. John. The other downside was that the views are so amazing, and the screened-in top deck so comfortable, that some days it was hard to leave the house to explore the rest of the island! But seriously, don't miss exploring the rest of the island -- St. John is a wonderful destination, and it's hard to beat Waterlemon Villa for a place to call home during your stay.

“What a view!!!”
We had a wonderful time in St. John, and Waterlemon Villa was a nice place to call home while we were there. A very pleasant place to stay, great kitchen, nice gas grill that has been well maintained. Marc, the house caretaker was very responsive when we needed him, and helped us out when we arrived. Ellen, the owner was very nice and helpful prior to, and while we were there. The view, and the porch area off the house is such a great part of the experience. I would recommend Waterlemon Villa to friends and family.

“A spectacular view! The one you dream about!”
Waterlemon Villa is, truly, "all about the view!" I continue to picture beautiful Coral Bay as I fall asleep at night. As for the Waterlemon (not Watermelon!!) Villa itself, it falls just short of spectacular. It is a lovely, very comfortable place to hang your...bathing suit...for a week or more. We were prepared to face a daunting drive to/from the house, but it was amazingly easy after the first "run." With everything you've ever wanted in a vacation home, there were few reasons to leave the Villa. (I must admit that we went out every night for wonderful dinners, especially at aqua Bistro, as that is part of our "vacation.") Breakfasts and/or lunch were enjoyed indoors at the roomy kitchen table. The living room is comfy with sofa and chairs. I especially liked retiring to the (master) bedroom downstairs with its very comfortable bed. And there's a nice sitting area (with a view, of course) through the sliding glass doors. The ceiling fans are more than adequate to cool even in late May.I never even thought about air conditioning. I'd give Waterlemon a "thumbs up" in every regard. But the view is numero uno in my opinion!
“Our Experience in Shangri-la”
Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but mine is definitely still in St. John. And more specifically at Waterlemon Villa. It was our first visit to the islands and Ellen's, the owner, information before we arrived was invaluable. A word of advice, whatever Ellen suggests, follow it and you will save valuable time for enjoying the fun that awaits. She was always quick and pleasant in answering my many questions. The views from Waterlemon cannot be described, they must be experienced. The home truly felt like home upon arrival. Beautiful accommodations but homey and comfortable at the same time. The porches were wonderful for morning coffee and evening dinners outside. And the guys especially enjoyed the outside showers overlooking the bay. It exceeded our expectations. And in the words of my 27 yr. old son, the house was "awesome". Seawatch, our favorite local bar was not far and great for happy hour appetizers. Also, just down the hill were Lily's grocery and a lovely restaurant called aqua Bistro. Very convenient. I found everyone we met fascinating, friendly and happy to share a story or two. Coral Bay is peaceful with much to offer in picturesque bays, beaches and snorkeling. A day trip to Cruz Bay for shopping and beach bar hopping was fun, but back to Coral Bay for exquisite sunsets and star gazing. Driving was an adventure as you dodged donkeys, goats and even a mongoose here and there. I found myself smiling for a week. Sitting by the pool at Waterlemon and looking out over Coral Bay was surreal. I can still see it in my dreams and all I can say to you is go!
“What an escape!”
Waterlemon Villa was a wonderful home base for our stay on St. John. The days were filled with beach excursions, exploring the island, shopping in Cruz Bay and simply enjoying the wonderful island of St. John. The afternoons and evenings were filled with unforgettable family time at Waterlemon Villa. The Villa gave us the "homey" feeling we were looking for as we enjoyed the pool, large screened-in porch, comfy porch furniture, well-equiped kitchen, ample living space, wireless connectivity, beautiful rising moons, gentle trade winds and, of course, the views!!! We hardly went out for dinner as we wanted to enjoy all that the Villa offered. Waterlemon Villa is a wondeful place to stay, relax, enjoy and be refreshed.
This comfy house perched on a mountain-side is an appealing vacation rental. The indoor/outdoor showers are a unique feature and fun feature. With a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces including an appealing screened deck, it was easy to settle in for 10 days. With the pricey restaurants in Coral Bay, a good kitchen is essential. The owner was great to work with; she genuinely wants renters to have a wonderful time, and we did. One caution: The stairs to the downstairs bedrooms are steep and narrow. Not for those with disabilities. We also rented the house next door, Almost Heaven. Having the 2 houses for our family of 12 was ideal.
“More Than a Million Dollar View”
Waterlemon Villa was perfect for our family of six. Our daughters and their partners enjoyed the lovely four poster beds and showers with a view on the lower level. My husband and I found the upper level bedroom convenient for getting up first to make coffee and see the sunrise over the island. We began our days with roosters crowing and birds chirping as we looked over Coral Bay and the sailboats below. The screened in porch covered the length of the house and included a wicker sitting area and iron dining table and six chairs. The glass doors to the porch opened up completely to the interior living room, dining, room, and kitchen. We had fun cooking, dining, and playing games in this entire area. Each morning and late afternoon we enjoyed the pool and lounge chairs among beautiful flowers and astounding views. This vacation brought our family in from Canada, NYC, and Omaha and we had the time of our lives. Of course we explored many beaches on this quiet side of St. John, snorkeling and swimming in crystal clear water. We love nature and spent most of our time on these winding roads, meeting the donkeys and goat herds along the way. Hiking included meeting up with red roosters, hens, and chicks as well as mongoose. Waterlemon Villa is owned by Ellen Sandler. She responded by phone to my email inquiry within ten minutes and was completely prepared with every phase of the rental process. She promptly answered all my questions and had her caretaker meet us at the ferry to lead us to Waterlemon. We had his number in case we had any problems. Ellen's home is generously furnished, decorated, and supplied. It is a wonderful place to enjoy family and time together. This was the best experience for our first time in St. John. I highly recommend Ellen Sandler and Waterlemon Villa.
“Stunning View !!!”
Our family of six stayed at Waterlemon Villa in March 2012 and had a fantastic time! The house is wonderful! Highlites of the house include pretty much everything!..the kitchen/family room with screened in porch is where we spent most of our time when we weren't at the beaches. The screened in porch is great - connected directly to the living area it really expands the area you will spend most of your time in when at the house. The house has all the amenities of home - including internet access if you need to stay connected! Ellen provided great intel on the best beaches, restaurants, local grocery, and rental spots which was very useful. The drive in is at first a bit intimidating (steep) but we mastered it and had no trouble. We parked at the top of the driveway for easier turnaround. We found Coral Bay in the evening to be relaxing with beautiful views.
“Exceeded our expectations!”
Husband and Wife and 2 grown daughters traveled from Boston - The house is beautiful, comfortable and had everything we needed. Every morning we woke up to the most beautiful views imaginable. If we didn't eat at one of the great restaurants Ellen recommended, we had dinner on the candle lit screened porch enjoying the sights and sounds of St John. We enjoyed the pool and loved taking an outdoor shower overlooking gorgeous Coral Bay. Ellen was a pleasure to work with, she was very responsive, attentive and gave great advice. We look forward to returning to Waterlemon Villa. Enjoyed a different beach almost everyday, plenty of snorkeling and hiking!
