La Bella Villa is a unique, hand-crafted home made of island stone and masonry. It has a gorgeous view of Coral Bay and of beautiful Bordeaux Mountain. The house itself has all the character and warmth of a traditional Caribbean home, yet it is modern, well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Romantics will adore this picturesque and idyllic home and marvel at the architectural touches.
The house faces Coral Bay: its 12 by 40 foot long covered porch lures you into sitting outside to read, watch the view, talk and simply enjoy comfortable outside living. Each room has a beautiful view and each bedroom is individually appointed with island art and touches. And you’ll love the magnificent mahogany shutters and doors (all fully screened, of course) all around the house.
Behind a Caribbean stone wall and next to the villa, La Bella Villa’s pool deck provides the perfect place for enjoying St. John’s sun and the views of Coral Bay and Bordeaux Mountain. The fresh water outdoor pool has ready access to a shower from the deck area as well as an entrance to the kitchen. With lounge chairs, a table and umbrella for reading by the pool, beach towels, and a nearby gas grill, you have all the comforts for an afternoon in the sun. We also provide beach chairs and a cooler for beach outings.
Opening from the pool deck, the kitchen is a NEFF custom kitchen featuring a granite sink and concrete counters. It is modern and fully equipped.
The living room is furnished with traditional Caribbean furniture. With vaulted ceilings, ceiling fans, tiled floors and Caribbean art, it has a relaxing and inviting interior. For your entertainment, a British Colonial-style armoire houses the entertainment center, including a nice collection of movies, CDs, and games for guests’ pleasure. And YES, we do have WiFi, although you shouldn't work while you are on vacation!
The beautiful mahogany doors open to the 500 square foot deck with a fabulous view of Coral Bay. The porch has a wooden table which seats 6 for relaxed, al fresco dining. A comfy sofa and rocking chairs make the porch an outdoor living room, cooled by breezes from Coral Bay and by ceiling fans.
La Bella Villa sleeps 4 comfortably in its two bedrooms, and has a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room for up to 2 more. The master bedroom features a romantic, British Colonial king-sized four-poster bed with luxurious linens, sconce lights above the bed, mahogany closets, a floor mirror, ceiling fans for a comfortable breeze, and views through jalousied/screened doors onto the porch and to Coral Bay itself. The master bath has a full, island style, walk-in tiled shower, footed sink, and comfortable privacy.
The second bedroom features a queen-sized bed as well as palm tree lamps on mahogany night stands. Overlooking the pool and with windows on three sides, this charming bedroom also features luxurious linens, Caribbean art, a ceiling fan for a cool breeze, and mahogany doors and window shutters.
After a day in the pool or at the beach, it is a short drive to one of the many fine or fun restaurants for which St. John is well known, including the famous Skinny Legs, Sweet Plantains, Aqua Bistro, Shipwreck Landing and others right in Coral Bay. A 20-minute ride takes you to Cruz Bay which features numerous other great restaurants and more shopping.
Perhaps best of all is the great access to the popular, beautiful North Shore beaches and the opportunity to explore South Shore and East End beaches, which are less frequented.
A variety of birds visit the immediate area which, depending upon the season, may include the largest hummingbirds you have ever seen, even parrots, and our popular native bird, the little but gorgeous bananaquit. Coral Bay, which is a little more funky and laid back than the Cruz Bay area of St. John, is also known for the island donkeys and goats that wander the streets and occasionally come near the villa. Our very own iguana family lives in the trees off the decks. And the night sounds of the tree frogs will lull you into a deep restful sleep.
Couples and families – adventurers, romantics/honeymooners, or those wanting just to relax -- will adore this picturesque and idyllic villa. We have a 5-day minimum stay....Read more
La Bella Villa: Perfect views, breezes and charm! Coral Bay, Saint John
Additional Location Information
La Bella Villa is on Cedar Lane, in a small "neighborhood" of 7 houses just up the hill from Coral Bay proper. Several of these houses are lived in by permanent residents which makes the area safe and private. However, it is only a 20 minute ride back to Cruz Bay, about a 3 minute ride down the hill to the restaurants, shops and grocery store in Coral Bay, and a 15 minute ride to the famous North Shore beaches. Also, access to the villa is easy...up a slight (but not scary) hill...with a flat, easy-to-access entrance.

We returned to St. John, USVi for our honeymoon and could think of no where else to stay but La Bella Villa. This makes our sixth time staying at this property and consider it our second home.
The villa is very well appointed with comfortable furnishings and wifi. You won't miss having a/c as the entire back of the house overlooking Coral Bay is all screened mahogany doors that allow the cool Caribbean trade winds to circulate through the home.
The property is immaculately maintained and the owners are amazing at addressing even the smallest request or need. We can't wait to come back to the VI and to our second home away from home.

We just returned from a fantastic one-week stay at La Bella Villa. This was our third trip to St. John and La Bella Villa took things up a notch with its perfect combination of location, amenities, tranquility and beauty.
The villa is a gorgeous blend of natural stone and rich woods surrounded by lush tropical foliage. The pictures simply don’t do it justice. We immediately noticed the details in the stone moldings that frame the large number of screened doors and windows that allow the cool ocean breezes to sweep through the home. The villa was well equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We usually cooked breakfast and an occasional lunch, with dinner spent at one of the many local restaurants. Although we never used the available TV, the access to wireless Internet was appreciated.
The villa is located in the northern part of Coral Bay. We found the location to be a perfect balance between peaceful seclusion, prime snorkeling (N. Haulover Bay, Kiddel Bay and Waterlemon Cay) and occasional evening access to Cruz Bay. Coral Bay has great restaurants and watering holes to include our favorite Skinny Legs. In addition, there are grocery and convenience stores in case you run out of any essential items.
The property is well managed. We were met at the St. John ferry docks and showed the way to the villa to make sure we were squared away for our stay. The manager (Nancy) was easily accessible by phone and text messaging for any questions that came up (including deciphering ferry barge schedules). The personal touch was better then any service we received on our previous stays.
In the end, La Bella Villa hit the mark for us. We spent the days snorkeling various bays/cays and came home for cocktails on the huge back porch overlooking Coral Bay. The quality beds allowed us to get a great night sleep so we could do it all over the next day. We’ll be staying here again.

La Bella Villa is a treasure tucked away in a hill overlooking Coral Bay. We stayed there several nights, and loved the privacy and beauty of the place. It features amazing stonework, high ceilings, modern kitchen, and stunning views of the island's green hills and bay. Wooden shutters are perfect for keeping the island breezes circulating inside. The outdoor shower was also a real treat, and we loved waking up to the sounds of doves cooing. A fabulous romantic getaway!

My wife and I spent a week at La Bella Villa on our honeymoon. From start to finish, the trip was relaxing and care free! Nancy (the property manager for the house) and her husband met us on the dock in Cruz Bay. They took us to get our rental jeep and waited while we stocked up at the grocery store. We felt welcome and at ease from the moment she met us! The house is situated a short drive from Coral Bay - not too far from activity but just the right amount of privacy. The porch overlooking the bay got a lot of use whether reading, taking a quick nap or enjoying an afternoon drink. And what a view! Many times did we find ourselves gazing out at the water and taking it all in. The accommodations are fantastic! We particularly both loved the outdoor shower. Proximity to the beaches could not be easier and we had great time in Coral Bay. Shipwreak Landing and Donkey Diner are two of the best restaurants on the island and they are minutes from La Bella Villa's front door! We were just there two weeks ago and can't wait to go back!!

My wife and I recently stayed at La Bella Villa for our honeymoon. Since returning two weeks ago, we have dreamed daily about our time on the island and our stay at this beautiful property.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were completely blown away by La Bella Villa. On all sides of the house are large screened doors which open up to create a wonderfully airy and open feeling. We spent most of our time on the front porch which has a breathtaking view of the crystal clear water and sailboats of Coral Bay. Waking up to this wonderful view each morning wasn't too bad either!
On a practical level, the house is equipped with absolutely everything you would want right down to bottle openers, board games, beach chairs and towels, and a binder full of dining and activity recommendations for St. John.
There are wonderful beaches and restaurants galore on St. John, but visitors to La Bella Villa should be sure to eat at Shipwreck Landing in Coral Bay, spend some time at the wonderful beach of Jumbie Bay and head down to Salt Pond.
We highly recommend La Bella Villa, and are already trying to figure out the next time that we can go back!
“the most perfect island experience: slow, steady, comfortable”

La Bella Villa is architecturally stunning. The stone work and mahogany details along with the perfect view of Coral Bay makes this house the perfect place to unwind and live the slow island life for a while. The outdoor shower becomes a lifestyle...way cool. The house gets a nearly constant breeze up from the Caribbean so no real need for a/C (also keeps bugs away), just ceiling fans on warm nights. The dipping pool is great for cooling off after long hikes or mornings at the beach. It's just up the hill from Skinny Legs, quite possibly the greatest dive bar in the Caribbean. It's a bit of drive to the 'settled' end of the island (Cruz Bay) but Coral Bay offers a slower pace and a bit of a Bohemian feel. We've visited now six times and love the house more and more. The owners are upgrading the property with gates to keep the donkeys out. :) But they weren't a nuisance anyway. The house is nearly perfectly maintained and comfortable, not that we spent a lot of time in it anyway. The East End snorkeling and hiking trails are less trafficked, thus better for those seeking 'off the beaten path' experiences. For 2, 3 or 4 people, this is a fanstastic place to stay.

So, I am not even sure I want to write this review and share this information with anyone else, but this secret hide-away is too good to not rave about.
We love la Bella villa!!!
This beautiful little home hidden away up on a hill with an amazing view, a quiet style and the coveted outdoor shower has us hooked. We try to come back to stay in this wonderful home at least every other year. And the pace of the Coral Bay side of the island/world is one that is hard to tear away from at the end of your vacation. (So much so that we have started extending our vacations by a few more days.)
To be able to wake up to a nice breeze, cup of coffee, and not have to run out to find breakfast, because you have a full kitchen at your disposal, makes the morning one of the most relaxing. We like to plan our day of which coveted beach around the island we want to visit, while we eat breakfast out on the big porch. Then we head off for our morning outing and picnic lunch or favorite lunch spot out. After a late-ish lunch we usually return for a dip in the dipping pool, a nap or some reading time on the porch. Then we shower and head out for a great dinner at one of our favorite dinner spots. If we take a long day out or know we have an early morning adventure the next morning, we like to be able to make dinner at home by either grilling out, or making something we have been craving. (To have the option to stay in or eat out is part of the luxury of this place.)
The beautiful dark wood and island style stone features, private drive, and view, make this place an amazing island home that you do not want to miss.

La Bella Villa is a true home away from home! We loved the outdoor shower, private pool, and gorgeous view of Coral Bay. Sally and Franz Jaggar have thought of everything when furnishing this lovely home. They gave wonderful suggestions of beaches to visit and restaurants to be sure to try, and helped us with the details of planning our trip. We stayed at La Bella Villa for our honeymoon, and have been back two more times since then to stay. It's a wonderful, private getaway and we plan to go back as soon as possible.

Our vacation at La Bella Villa was the best from the start to the finish. The owners were so helpful in answering all of our questions. The Villa was just perfect for two couples. It was very well kept and had all the comforts of home. We enjoyed eating our meals on the beautiful porch over looking Coral Bay.The sunrises and sunsets were out of this world. We really enjoyed relaxing in the pool after a long day of shopping, hiking, snorkeling, or scuba diving. The girls loved having shopping areas and fantastic resteraunts on both sides of the island. We are looking foward to making a return trip in 2013!
