Do not stay at this home or rent from Outer Banks Blue. As you can see from their responses Outer Banks Blue is quite flippant to complaints. This house is being deceptively advertised and by no means is it in the condition Outer Banks Blue represents. The house is terribly outdated, black mold in the ice maker, appliances not working, whole house stereo not functional, property overgrown and unkept to the point that vegetation block the front stairs and the access to the beach, jacuzzi non functional. Grill was so filthy it actually caught fire, Outer Banks Blue representative cleaned grill and left debris on deck for us to throw out. Although inspected by OBB representative no effort ws made to remove the mold from the icemaker, which was non functional although filled with ice to make it appear functional. We had to wash down the back of the house to rid it of spider webs because Outer banks Blue would not do so. Windows so filthy that you could not see out of them. Outer Banks Blue claims that the condition of the house is lesser that what is represented at the end of the season because of the beating that the house takes through the season, although nothing in their advertising makes any such disclaimer. Outer Banks Blue is trying to blame the homeowners for the condition of the home claiming that they do not receive the money for the rental but the contract you sign is with Outer Banks Blue - not the homeowners.
Outer Banks Blue assured us the week before we took the house that there were no issues with the house what so ever, knowing that the house was in a condition less than what was advertised is deceptive. I would never rent or recommend to anyone to have any business dealings with Outer Banks Blue. Do not be surprised to see complaints with better Business Bureau, OBX Chamber of Commerce regarding their deceptive business practices.
We again apologize for your discontent with your rental of Wellfleet. As we have advised you previously your accusations are off base and as you are aware we responded to every issue you presented to us during your stay.

Where does one begin, we have stayed on the OBX for probably 20 times and this home was one of 3 that we got burned on!! Looks to me like they bought a Beachfront property 15 YRS ago and did it up to the MaX and after that never put 1 more penny into it!! The carpets need replaced, the floors need redone, the furniture smells of terrible mildew in the master, the stuffed furniture in living room was down right gross, never sat in it!! Everything stuck to both dining tables! Chairs are padded and stained, with crumbs covering the backs! The bar in kitchen had 3 mismatched bar stools with yucky chair pads on them and we finally noticed that the 4TH was sitting on the outside deck!! The outside had shingles falling off and the outdoor furniture is all falling apart, both on decks and around the pool. Pool is stained which makes it look dirty, the hot tub tiles are all falling off! That first impression of the pool was not good! The dryer on right does not dry and you have to limit the load to 2 towels on 3 60 MIN cycles!! The whole outside of house upon arrival was covered in bugs and cob webs, don't plan on hanging any towels from decking!! When we called about the outside being gross they said they could not power wash because the neighbors would complain, and behold the very next day the house next to us and the one next to them was power washed!! So many of the windows had broken seals and you could not see out them! Lets see the good things were, A short walk to the beach, and 2 dish washers! The owners should be ashamed to be renting this home, and OBX blue should be ashamed to have their sign on the front door! Dirty grimy carpet remnants were at each deck door, yuck!! If the owner was willing to put some money back into this home, it could be beautiful, but they have a long way to go! Felt bad for the couple that went with us, we have talked up out stays at OBX for 20 YRS, and this was their first and they were looking to buy a property!! So sad!
So....you didn't like the house huh? Wow. We apologize for your disappointment with Wellfleet. This house is owned by a family that does not rent the house very often, and as such they equip the house per their own taste. You should have been aware of that before you rented the property.
As for your suggestions on improvements we will be certain to pass it along to the owner of the property who will be back in the property soon.
We apologize for your disappointment, and look forward to serving you better in the future.
All the best from the beach!

I have to say I am quite disappointed with the property we rented this summer. I have rented from Outer Banks Blue in the past and have been happy with the properties but this one was not of the quality or standard that I would expect you to represent.
On the day we arrived there were worms throughout the house and I understand the issue with the warm winter this year being the source, but the house clearly had not been cleaned recently. We had to vacuum upon arrival even before unpacking. Then we called to ask when the pool would be cleaned and to our surprise it had already been cleaned. The water was very cloudy and looked dirty and the ceramic tile was falling in around the sides. The pool cleaner said this was due to the age of the pool and the surface wearing away (thus the cloudy water). The Jacuzzi had no jets working so it was basically a tub of warm water.
When we arrived the garage door was open and had been for awhile as we were told by the pool cleaner. The garage door opener was broken so my husband had to work to get the door closed and all week when someone needed to get in or out of the garage we had to have someone help open the door.
The beach deck shown in the pictures on line was not the deck belonging to this house as it was much, much smaller and in fact the pictures were of the deck belonging to a house a few doors away. The deck furniture at the house is not unsafe and I was concerned that it was going to collapse when we sat on it.
I am quite surprised at the condition of the house and the price that I paid for what is clearly a house in much need of repair. Please let me know if there is any remuneration for the rental that was not up to the standards expected of Outer Banks Blue.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review on "Wellfleet." We apologize that you were not completely satisfied with your rental on this property.
We wanted to take a moment to assure you that there is no agenda of misrepresentation with any of our properties. The house was cleaned on the day of your arrival, and had been rented several times this year previous to your arrival. The pictures you said are not of this property are indeed from Wellfleet, and frankly we knew nothing of any of the issues you pointed out in this review during your stay.
We don't handle after the fact disappointment in any rental with a refund, but rather we try to respond to any issues immediately with service, and we apologize that we could not solve the few matters you pointed out because we were not made aware of them. We have corrected the issues that you have pointed out here since your departure.
Wellfleet is only rented a few weeks a year because the homeowner does use the property quite often, and as such the property is offered at a very affordable price because the owner feels the property is indeed their second home, and they are not interested in competing with the highest priced properties in this market.
We are happy that you had a wonderful week to vacation on the Outer Banks and we look forward to serving you and your family again soon.

We were very disappointed in the home. The beds were extremely
uncomfortable. The Televisions were aged. There were no ice machines that
worked on the top floor and we called early in the week and nothing was ever
done about it. In general, the house is not what we expected from oceanfront
homes. We will not stay there agai.

Although the location of this home is beautiful, it was poorly represented. In order to accomadate the number listed most bedroom were over crowded with sleep sofas and beds. There was little to no dresser space, the kitchen was not on caliber with a home in this price range. The ground floor and the pool area needs updating.
We will be passing your comments along to this homeowner for consideration on their improvements for the 2009 season.

This is a very spacious home in a great location. Oceanfront with private access to the beach. Great views of the sunrise and sunset from the decks off both sides of the house.
The house and its' amenities are getting a bit run down. Several items were not in top working condition. It could use a bit of attention. Overall, however, this is a great house in the perfect location.
