Casa Calma is a spacious two-bedroom apartment in the upmarket La Residencia development in Costa Calma, Fuerteventura. Its exclusive position overlooks the swimming pool and its secluded garden provides the perfect setting for a glass of champagne under the stars or a lazy breakfast on the patio! The children's windmill provides a welcome shelter and play area from the midday sun; and the brick-built bar-b-que is great for al fresco dining on warm evenings (all year round!). This is the only apartment on La Residencia that directly overlooks the pool - you can enjoy a cocktail in the garden while your children splash in the pool if you wish! There are sunbeds, a hammock, and table and chairs for use in the garden and/ on the terrace.
•Home from home mod-cons: washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, satellite TV, DVD, CD player etc.
•Sleeps 4/6 (double bed, twin beds, sofa bed)
•Bath and shower
The apartment is one-minute walk from the Fuerte Action shopping complex, which has the trendy Fuerte Action Bar with free wi-fi to use while you enjoy their fantastic coffee, ice-cream bar, or a delicious snack, restaurants, a handy supermarket, and an array of shops selling both useful and luxury items. Walk for five minutes and you reach paradise - a 21km white sandy beach, where you can just feel your troubles melt away as you listen to the gentle lapping of the waves!
A ten minute drive takes you to Oasis Park, one of Fuerteventura's main attractions, which offers camel safaris, sea lion, parrot, reptile and bird of prey shows and a variety of displays and activities which make for a perfect day out.
Ten minutes drive in the other direction takes you to the fascinating old town and beachfront bars and restaurants of Morro Jable and the commercial centre of Jandia - leather, jewellery, perfume, clothes and local specialities are all available at excellent prices. And don't be afraid to haggle in the street front shops of Jandia - often, the traders don't actually expect you to pay the advertised prices! You will be totally spoilt for amazing white sand beaches in this whole area - they really are second to none!
There are golf courses at Morro Jable (10 minutes drive) and Caleta (30 minutes drive). The world windsurfurfing championships in July make fascinating viewing - even if you don't want to participate. And the beach on La Pared (5 minutes drive) on the west of the island is great for surfers and fishermen! In winter months, particularly, when the weather is usually in the low 20s, cyclists and walkers are in their paradise exploring the unusual landscape to the interior of the island.
The beauty of Costa Calma is its unpretentious sophistication - if you want to find a greasy spoon and yearn for a 'Brits abroad' culture then it's not for you! There is a nightclub and several bars and good restaurants offer the chance to taste local fare, enjoy more cosmopolitan tastes, and experience the best of Fuerteventura's relaxed southern living - the focus is definitely on relaxation rather than rowdy lager louts!
Costa Calma is a gem in the Atlantic Ocean on Spanish Fuerteventura, the most up and coming of the Canary Islands, where year round sunshine makes for the perfect holiday destination. With its long sandy beaches, welcoming hospitality and stunning mountain vistas, Costa Calma offers the ideal location for a safe, friendly family holiday, a romantic retreat for couples or a fun packed activity trip for enthusiasts of kitesurfing, windsurfing and other watersports. It is very rare for me to write reviews, but after our third wonderful visit to Casa Calma, I thought it deserved one. It is fantastic value for money, being smart and well appointed with dishwasher and washing machine as well as everything you would expect in such an apartment. We did a mixture of self catering and eating out, there being a good selection of restaurants and shops within 5 to 10 minutes walk, so we could drink without having to worry who drove.
Costa Calma beach is beautiful, great for the family (no rowdy English tourists here!), and lives up to its name of calm - great for swimming. Beaches further afield vary from deserted to dramatic. The windsurfing at Risco del Paso has the ideal conditions of good winds and calm sea. I was far more successful at it than I every expected - well worth a go. Other interesting attractions include museums, a good zoo, spectacular scenery, especially on the east side of the island, fascinating cycle tours, quad biking and all the normal touristy shops, ice cream and sun bathing. I will be back next year for another great holiday.
"Wonderful, quiet, relaxing holiday with sun and sand and lovely"

We are two friends who have recently returned from a lovely, quiet, relaxing holiday in Fuerteventura.
Casa Calma apartment is ideally situated and is spacious and well equipped. The sea and beach, shops, supermarkets, restaurants, garage and cash machines are all easy to get to and there is plenty to do. It is easy to eat out but we mostly got our own quick meals. The swimming pool is directly opposite the apartment and we enjoyed a dip.
The weather was warm, skies were blue and the sun shining (no rain) and most days we enjoyed walking and paddling along the beach which is a big long stretch of unspoilt golden sand with safe shallow water for swimming or we lazed on the sunbeds reading.
We did not hire a car, although this would have been easy, but managed to get around the island quite easily on buses and coach excursions. Timetables can be got from the Information centre and most big hotels. There is a free bus to the Zoo and Botanical gardens which are well worth a visit.
Wish we'd stayed longer and will definitely go back.

The apartment is in the south of Fuerteventura, which was much preferable to us as not being full of English tourists. It is about an hour's drive from the airport on good roads through amazing scenery. The complex has a mix of residents, island families - Canarian and arabic, and German tourists. The apartment is ideally situated opposite the pool, and within easy walking distance of two small supermarkets and a number of small shops and restaurants. It is a downhill walk to the amazing beach and a larger supermarket. Within easy driving distance are any number of small unspoilt beaches both on the gentler coast with unlimited sand and on the wilder north coast, which is fascinating. The food in all the restaurants we tried was very good and there is a good choice to suit all budgets. Cafes on the beach were all good. There is good shopping in Morro Jable - about a 15 minute drive, with plenty of parking; Oasis Park with a well-run zoo and botanic garden; Betancuria, the old capital in the middle of the island which is a beautiful place with a very interesting drive to reach it and the most superb views wherever you go. The apartment is spacious, homely, clean and perfect for all holiday-makers, whether families or sports-minded or just tourists. No problems with parking outside. The information provided by the owner is excellent and we happily followed most of the recommendations. It is a beautiful island and well worth a visit and this apartment is a very good choice from which to see it. Read more

We are delighted to remember our time at Casa Calma and how comfortable we were in this well equipped house. Midge has thought of everything that could possibly be needed.Loved the terrace and garden area. The complex was great too, being residencial the surroundings were quiet and relaxing and the communal pool could have been ours alone! Location very handy for Las Palmeras shopping centre and superb restaurants too. Hope to see you again later this year, at long last. Read more
