LUXURIOUS Living: Stunning Ocean Views, Pool, Penthouse HotTub, Private Chef Inc

Manuel Antonio villa

6 bedrooms / 7 bathrooms / sleeps 30

“Debra's 50th Birthday” By far one of the best vacations ever. Casa Espanola is a fabulous, upscale villa that is spacious, modern and clean. I traveled with a group of 20 people and everyone was in awe. I probably will never go to a hotel again after the Casa Espanola experience. The dining area was big enough for everyone, thus producing a total family vibe at mealtime. The rooms are big and the beds are huge. Chef Glenda and her daughter were the absolute best and the menu selections are just too many to name. The ride from SJO airport was 2 1/2 hrs but no one seemed to mind the long ride because it gave you an opportunity to sightsee. We also took the local bus in Manuel Antonio for about .67 cents....what a deal. I can't say enough about this fabulous place. I can't wait to go back. Thanks to Amy, Hazel and the staff at Casa Espanola.

Beach Bungalow Pool #1

Tamarindo log cabin

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Paradise in Tamarindo” We arrived a day late because of my mistake on the shuttle. But when we arrived we were greeted by Nico with a beer and lots of information about the beaches and area. After telling him our trouble with the shuttle he made our reservations for the next part of our trip. He also made reservations for us on a fantastic sailing . snorkeling trip. On the second day I rolled my foot so we hung out on our own private deck looking out to the pool. We have three more nights here and hope my foot is better for the beach tomorrow. Nico and his wife Letty cook the breakfast and it is something different each morning. Very good too. They have Edwin who is here during the day and he is so kind and helpful too. I would come back here again for sure

OFFICIAL SITE of El Castillo de Esparza

Esparza villa

11 bedrooms / 13 bathrooms / sleeps 30

“Beautiful Grounds, Amazing Staff, Phenomenal Food” Our visit to El Castillo was an unforgettable experience from the moment we stepped foot off the plane. What makes El Castillo special is not only the ornate and meticulously decorated spaces, but the staff who works there. During our entire trip of seven days, the staff would drop everything and make accommodations to take us on our choice of excursions, even at the last minute. Everyone truly goes the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable. The drinks, the incredible food, the music, the company...they truly exceeded any expectations we had prior to our trip. The key is that the staff is detail-oriented. From the moment you awake, your curtains are drawn and fresh sheets are on the bed. Every morning a gorgeous breakfast would be waiting for us on the beautiful terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Throughout the day, they oblige at any moment to make you a snack (we highly recommend the guacamole) or an alcoholic beverage. The dinners prepared by Chef Minor were absolutely phenomenal, consisting of three courses. We highly recommend Minor's famous azteca Soup, as it was unforgettable. As night falls, the bed is subsequently turned down and the curtains drawn. Day after day, no detail was looked over. Not only are there several activities to keep you busy outside the castle (eg. Crocodile River Tours, exploring the Monkey Beach, Volcano view, etc.), but there are so many activities to do at the property. We could have spent all day playing volleyball in the pool, challenging each other to tennis tournaments, playing cards on the veranda, learning to play pool with a gorgeous view of the terrace framing the experience, or selecting a movie from hundreds of choices available in the home theater room. El Castillo de Esparza is a true gem in the heart of Costa Rican activity. We will never forget the experience or the friends that we made on our celebratory adventure.

Vila El Sueno de Ocotal, Golden Coast, Costa Rica, (we offer meals if requested)

Playa Ocotal villa

8 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms / sleeps 16

“Guest Host with the Most” Staying with Calin and Silvia made the vacation the best we could have ever hoped for. Calin had a driver pick us up from the airport (at our expected expense of course), making the initial entrance to the country an easy transition to vacation mode. We came to CR with no agenda and no plans. Calin gave us ideas including a day trip to Nicaragua. He called a tour company and set up the date and time and got back to us quickly so that we could plan more around it. We were able to experience more in one week staying here than other travelers staying at high end resorts. Staying here was truly a blessing sent from above. The view was just as expected. Beautiful and only a 7 min walk to the beach. Having a pool only steps away from your door was perfect. What an amazing couple, who shared their family and time with us while we were there. It felt more like we were staying with family then staying in a hotel. We certainly will come back, if only to see Calin and Silvia again.

4 Eco-Friendly Homes Outside Jaco On Converted Mango/Fruit Plantation

Jaco house

“Families will love it” Costa Rica amazes us. Into the forest we found this luxury private estate. We are a large family group and felt in love immediately with this beautiful property. All the nature, the howler monkeys, the fruits, the scarlet macaws, the birds; our children learned so much, they discovered Mother Earth for the first time in Costa Rica. This property is so family friendly, it's SAFE, the manager is American and his wife is Costa Rican, they know the area very well and they understanded us(tourists), they gave us the best tips(hidden beaches, farmers markets, delicious bakeries) even reserved the nicest tours for all of us at not extra charge. Nearby we found a lot of local fruit stands, typical food and mini markets. Everything is there and helped us to avoid to much time on the road. It was truly the most exciting vacation that our 18 family members have ever taken. The large and comfortable nice houses in the property, the friendly manager and his wife, the surroundings, everything. I will recommend this place for large groups or families who are looking for more adventure than the boring all inclusive resorts. It was the vacation that my family will never forget. Thanks you G for being so accommodating to all of us!!!

“Family vacation” This was our third and best Costa Rica vacation. The property is lovely, very secure and all the nature is impressive. The houses are as described in the website. High quality appliances, beautiful deco, comfortable beds and very clean sheets. Just perfection. Every day we had our morning coffee in the terraces, it felt so refreshing and relaxing, being out into nature, just what me and my family needed. Thank you Garrett for making our family vacation so enjoyable! Definitely recommend it.

Eco-Friendly Home Outside Jaco 2 On Converted Mango/Fruit Plantation

“Fantastic two weeks!” Wow, where do I begin? We have never been to Costa Rica and wanted to try something completely different than the typical all inclusive resorts. So the search began and we discovered the beautiful eco friendly vacation homes. This was the best trip in the twenty years of travelling we have done!! We were picked up at the airport by John and he brought us to the resort. On the way there we asked him a ton of questions as any tourist would. He really wasn’t familiar with the area, but let me tell you he was great at finding stuff out for us if he didn’t know. John is a very kind man and excellent to have around. The power went out due to a storm one evening and he was quick to stop by in the pouring rain. He informed us what we should do if it was out for a length of time and brought us candles. (The power was only out for about half an hour) He was very helpful in many other aspects, but I would keep you here forever if I went on. He comes across shy, but he will open up if you take the time to spend with him. Thanks for everything John!! Juan the manager was exceptional; his responses to emails were immediate. He is very informative and has all the answers you look for in a manager. There was never a question he wouldn’t answer. Juan always updated me with information and gave great insight to the area. Juan has a large selection of things to do with all the pricing available up front so you can plan accordingly. They even have special services if you require anything. We had groceries ready for us in the room for when we arrived so we didn’t have to worry about finding a place to eat late at night. Thank you Juan for the best service anyone could ask for! My husband and I stayed in the one bedroom home and we were not disappointed in any way. With exception of the creepy crawlies that visited us throughout the trip. Let’s just say I have seen many bugs that I would never see here in Canada! Hey, it’s the jungle take it all in. Speaking of that, one thing I would recommend to the owners is having door sweeps put on, so those little critters have less chance of exploring the homes. Everything was exactly as described in the photos and overview of the property. The beds were comfy and everything was clean and up to par. Some of the fruit was not in season so we weren’t able to take advantage of all the fresh stuff. However we did get to enjoy the limes, star fruit, grapefruit and tangerines. We did not rent a car while we were there. If you want to be even more adventurous then I suggest a car. If you want to enjoy the life of the locals hop the bus and go see the little towns nearby. The bus stop is on the hour across the street in front of El Jardin and you can go to Orotina (this is where we bought the bulk of our groceries) It’s about 20mins to get there. If you want to catch the bus and go to the crocodile bridge, Tacoles, Jaco, or Play Hermosa the bus comes by half past the hour on the same side of the road as the Villas. We rode the bus to Jaco from the villas and with all the stops it took about an hour to get to Jaco. We had no problem using the transit and we do not speak Spanish. It was so safe and there were no issues. (They don’t take US $$ to ride the bus as far as I know). We had our money changed to colones before we left Canada to make things easy. All the little towns will take US $$ but they give you colones back in change. There were also taxi’s driving by on the highway regularly. They will honk their horn at you if they are available for use. Always ask and confirm pricing prior to getting in. While we were there we met some beautiful people on our resort and had a great time sightseeing with them. We all went to the Carrara National Park and hired a guide, boy it was worth it. They know all the places that the wildlife hangs out. It’s very difficult to pick out the wildlife with your own eyes! He pointed out so many things that we would have never seen. We also went to Jaco which is a resort surf town; it has everything you want in one location. And a beautiful beach to walk. Juan set us up with a water repelling tour and it was fantastic! They are fully equipped with all the gear and very safe. It was an excellent day trip. There was also an incredible beach that is close by where the locals like to be, it was called Playa Blanca. Absolutely beautiful! As for the restaurants and fruit stands nearby, there are plenty around. If you are walking and did not rent a car it can be a lengthy walk. The other option would be to hop the bus and ride it a little ways down to check out the other restaurants. The bus stops frequently and all you have to do is hit the buzzer. We walked to the La Puesta Del Sol fruit stand and purchased fruit there and right beside it was a gas station where we could get items on short notice such as margarine, bread, night time snacks and liquor. We also ate at the little soda and the meal was just fine. Our most favorite place to eat was Los Congos Restaurante. It was about a mile down the road and worth the walk. The food was amazing and there was never a morsel of food left on the plate. YUM!! They had our beverages at our table before we sat down. The employees there were fantastic! And you can’t go wrong eating dinner and watching the howler monkeys up in the trees! We had a flashlight for the walks back as it is very dark in the area and it is a good way for the traffic driving by to know you were there. There is no shortage of wildlife on the property either. Everything from Iguanas’, squirrels, geckos, scorpions, bats, a cat and another animal that we couldn’t quick figure out, it was harmless. I think we saw all the birds in Costa Rica! The Scarlet Macaws even flew over. The highlight of our 2 weeks there was when we were hanging out at the pool we could hear the howler monkeys. The second we heard them we knew they were on the property and we dropped our stuff off at the home and sprinted to the other end of the property to watch the monkey interact. There we were in the jungle surrounded by the howlers with their babies frolicking in the tree tops! WOW, the best moment in time! We stood there for an hour in amazement! We even mimicked their calls and they called back! My trip was complete!! We have been on many tropical vacations in multiple countries. Always staying all inclusive, this time was different. We wanted the simple life and the peace and quiet along with a stress free vacation. This was most definitely the best route to take. If you are looking for nightlife and a resort full of many other tourists I don’t think this is for you. I would recommend Juan and his staff anytime. We can’t wait to return to Costa Rica!

Near Monteverde Rancho el Rio- Lush Paradise/Farm

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“Living the Real Costa Rican Life!!!” When we decided to stay at Rancho el Rio, we had no idea or expectations about what this vacation would be like. Emailing back and forth with Veronica, I knew we would be in good hands but I had no idea what amazing things were in store for us!! We had no car but we found out that would not matter! Everything that is listed about Rancho el Rio are true..the horseback riding was incredible, hiking every day to see new places and things, milking the cow , seeing a baby calf one hour after it is born, baby chicks, feeding the hens, roosters, peacocks, sheep, pigs, donkeys and even an Emu !! The gift that we had was immersing ourselves into the true AUTHENTIC rural culture that Guacimal has to offer was the highlight of our stay. There is a Fairia every Saturday from 12-5 that is put on by the residents living there with fresh produce, fruit, someone making a hot lunch for purchase each week, fresh bread, desserts, eggs and other wonderful specialties. We were able to purchase much of our food for the week at the Fair which helps the locals sustain a living for themselves..and everything is fresh and delicious!!! There is always a Marimba band or local Mariachi singers and they play Bingo at the end of the day for prizes-I played so I could bone up on my Spanish numbers!! The people are just wonderful in town and we got very close to a lot of them while we stayed there. Veronica and Alex and their son, Stuart are wonderful hosts. Stuart is a wealth of knowledge about local birds, trees, insects, etc and took us for a night hike. Veronica and Alex are dedicated to helping Guacimal become a place where tourists can come and see what real Costa Rica is about, and to help sustain the culture for the people living there. If you stay at Rancho el Rio or are passing through, stop at the Demonstration Sustainability Center which you will see as you are on Route 606, ask them about it as they have many wonderful ideas, dreams and plans for the future of Guacimal. Staying at Rancho el Rio, you only have to walk thru two River areas and down a path to get to it!!! Swimming in the river and then going over to the Casona, to visit, was a treat that you won't soon forget!!! There is always some kind of fruits on the trees on the Rancho so you can pick whatever you like to eat - Yum! The Saturday afternoon Fair is a must stop if you would like to experience true Costa Rica and you could very well see some Howler monkeys living in the trees on your visit!!!

Arenal Springs Villas by the Lake

Nuevo Arenal villa

“ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEWS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED” First time in Costa Rica and loved it. Our family of 6 had an amazing time at your property. What a perfect place for relaxation after a day of adventure. Our kids, ages 7 and 10 were in heaven. The drive to the villa is breathtakingly beautiful and when the gates close behind you after a busy day of exploring you feel as though the world vanishes. We enjoyed the wildlife and plants on the property and my favorite thing was sitting watching the birds while I had my morning coffee. Tom and Maria treated us like friends. We had private access to the pool by the guest house, a kitchen, lots of room for the kids to play and access to a little piece of perfectly manicured paradise with a breathtaking view.

“Great vacation!” We really enjoyed our stay at The Palms! It was great to be so close to the beach, pool, grill (when we felt like cooking) and restaurants (when we didn't). Elyne (owner) was awesome as were all the staff. We had groceries in the fridge when we got there, a rental car arrived the next day and we were given lots of help to book excursions. “Heaven on earth” What a wonderful place. My husband and I just came back from a really special week there. It was the first time we'd been away without kids since our honeymoon and I can't image a more romantic destination. Everything was perfect. The property, the staff and the incredible white sand beach location. We went to several other beaches while we were there, and Flamingo is the best. Beautiful white sand, uncrowded, consistently nice surf, very special. We came walking back from the surf without towels one afternoon; we hadn't even left the sand yet when one of the staff met us with a big smile and two towels, the staff is hands-down superb! They took care of everything and helped us plan day excursions and find secret spots - that really helped make for a special trip. And don't miss Roy's poolside drinks and goodies. Make sure to try his ceviche - best ever. The condo is really something else too. Everything is gorgeous and very well maintained. The glass walls, (doors) facing the surf fold away, making you feel as if you are sleeping outside on the beach with the sound of the waves and tropical birds. The entire wall facing the water literally goes away - amazing doors. Pure heaven! I wonder why I'm writing all this. Pura Vida. I have to share. Don't miss this treasure!

Casa Ramon

Dominical villa

6 bedrooms / 8 bathrooms / sleeps 14

“Beautiful vistas and exceptional accommodations” Casa Ramon is simply the finest villa we have ever rented. Alberto, the manager, was extremely professional and very willing to assist 24-7. The bedrooms were spacious and nicely furnished with very comfortable bedding. Our family of ten had absolutely no complaints. The views of the mountains and the Pacific from the overlook and outdoor patio will be remembered for years to come. The white face monkeys and Toucans kept us entertained. We also had some wonderful meals prepared by the chef and we have requested some of the recipes.
