THE RED SUNSET OF GUANACASTE, LODGING ABOVE THE REST AND A FRIEND IN THE AREA!!!

Nuevo Arenal villa

6 bedrooms / 7 bathrooms / sleeps 19

“Wow! You'll love the Red Sunset!” Are you looking for a luxury guesthouse near Lake Arenal and Arenal Volcano? If so, look no further and book yourself into the Red Sunset. My husband and I, along with six friends, spent a week in March there. We are so glad we did! We found the accommodations to be everything they were advertised and more. The views are amazing and the house, pool house and grounds will give you plenty of opportunities to relax and explore. While the guesthouse is excellent, the very best feature is the owner/operator Patrick. Patrick met with us each day to help us plan activities and make reservations with the best tour operators. His local knowledge and recommendations were spot on each day, and his help was invaluable. The breakfast provided each morning was a highlight unto itself. Come prepared to eat well – you won’t be disappointed. We’ve never had meals of this quality at similar style lodgings. We also took advantage of the optional evening Chef services. While there were several great places to eat in the Lake Arenal area, all of which were recommended to us by Patrick, you won’t beat the meals prepared by Patrick and his wife. Our favorite was the Chicken Parmesan – sorry, Mom, but it was the best we’ve had anywhere! The Red Sunset was the perfect place for our Costa Rica vacation. We arrived as guests and soon felt like family. We’re glad we chose the Red Sunset!

Amazing Panoramic Volcano Views- Entire Villa- $275-night

El Castillo b&b

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Rave review” My parents, my wife, and my 8 year old daughter (and our tiny dog cookie) just returned from a 6 night stay at BirdSongarenal. It was everything that was advertised and more. There is a new deck (not shown in the photos currently on the site) perched out on the end of the front yard that if you do not find spectacular, you are surely brain-dead. Allan was a perfect host, and his parrot (Lori) was there to entertain each morning as well. We rested in the two hammocks that are available right outside the upstairs unit,(We rented both units) and were throughly pleased with the comfort and isolation that BirdSongarenal represents. You must find a moment to get there and chill out. To not do so is purely sinful.

Luxurious 3 br. Villa,Near Beach, Private Pool

Playa Langosta villa

3 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Perfect family March break vacation!” We have just arrived back in Canada to snow and we are all depressed as we want to be back at this gorgeous villa! The villa is exactly as described and very relaxing. The beach is so close and the waves are excellent as are the sunsets. We did three trips through RPM and all were good especially the zip lining and horse riding on the beach. We ate at some good restaurants but a must is brunch at Sueno del Mar.We would love to come back. Thanks for a great holiday location.

Casa Sandra: Spectacular Views Quality Furnishings

Manuel Antonio villa

2 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Casa Sandra a Dream Vacation and Experience!” My husband and I stayed here for four nights before continuing on to visit other areas of Costa Rica. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, upscale, comfortable home and the staff services were very accessible. All our needs were met and then some. The location is perfect for walking or catching a local bus or taxi. The area restaurants and the beaches are wonderful. The monkeys in the trees behind the house, along with the many and varied birds, were really a wonderful chance to be apart of this incredible country and its inhabitants. This home made the stay heavenly. We highly recommend for a couple or two couples or small family. Pura Vida!

Open Plan Villa (New Pool) Ocean View & Monkeys

Manuel Antonio villa

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“Great views, spacious comfort, expert help” Our family had a wonderful time at Villa azul for our Christmas holiday week. My husband and I stayed on the upstairs floor, which included a spacious living and kitchen area and a bedroom mezzanine. Our grown-up children stayed in the stand-alone apartment on the first level. Each level had a deck with stunning views stretching to the ocean. The house was clean and stocked with all the essentials. A major perk was the villa's gracious owner, Jean, who helped us plan amazing Costa Rica activities in advance. He also set up transportation to and from the San Jose airport, made our tour reservations, and set up reliable drivers to the tours. A full-service host! A great selection of restaurants are just 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from the villa, and an ample grocery store is only a few blocks away. We're glad we resisted renting a car; parking is tight and the roads are narrow. And it was much better to experience the town by foot or via readily available taxis or the convenient bus. We recommend Cafe Milagro as a great breakfast spot and Barba Roja for dinner (great ribs and amazing view over the ocean, get there for happy hour + sunset). We highly recommend the Manuel antonio National Park tour (with guide), the canopy zip-line experience, and the mangrove boat excursion. Jean will help you pick the best tours and guides. And, yes, from our decks we saw monkeys in the nearby trees, and many amazing birds. Plus there were no mosquitoes! Lovely Villa azul and all of Jean's expert help made our unforgettable Costa Rica getaway even more special.

The Orchard Mountain View Retreat

Escazu apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Beautiful and relaxing” The scenery around this house is absolutely gorgeous--a wonderful view of the mountains on one side, and of the Central Valley of Costa Rica on the other. The bedrooms are both nicely roomy, each with a separate bathroom. There is a lovely separate room with a couch and table, where you can have your meals, also with a great view. It was, in short, a fantastic place to stay!

65 acre Private Garden Paradise

Nuevo Arenal house

5 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 10

“Great vacation home on beautiful property” Our family of six greatly enjoyed our two weeks at this beautiful property. The house is large and modern and four bedrooms. The TV room is far from the living and bed rooms, which is nice since some of the family could watch TV without waking others who were sleeping. The property is amazing--miles of paths to walk on, ranging from paved driveways to hidden jungle trails that we didn't find until several days into our trip. There is lots of wildlife and many nice views. We enjoyed picking fresh fruit and vegetables from the orchard and garden (which saved us a lot on groceries). The house is a couple kilometers from the town of Nuevo Arenal, which is very pleasant and has everything you need--groceries, bank, gas, etc. Previous commenters complained about the rough road, but it is actively being repaired and about a quarter of the length was completely graded and re-stoned during our stay. The manager was very helpful in arranging housecleaning, a nanny, Spanish lessons, and cooking--the entire staff was excellent, including the gardener who arranged horseback riding on the property. I highly recommend this property.

“Everything you expect, and more.” My wife and I had the pleasure of renting Casa Fiesta during the month of February 2015. This was our fifth trip to Costa Rica in as many years, and we weren't disappointed with any part of our trip. First off, Mike and Alexis were great to work with in regards to getting the house rented. All my emails were answered promptly, directions and explanations were concise and accurate, and nothing was left to chance. Reading some of the other reviews, it seems like some people grew tired of the dirt road leading to the home. The road itself is only 3.1 kilometers off the paved road, and I really didn't think it was all that bad. We traveled over it for a month and it normally took 8 minutes from the time we left the house until we hit the blacktop. If you haven't drove on a dirt road in Costa Rica, then you haven't been to Costa Rica. Don't expect interstate driving. That's part of the charm. I've booked other rentals online based on photographs and been somewhat disappointed of the place after I've arrived. Many times, the photos of the rentals were taken in the best possible light at the best possible angle. Technically, they were being truthful but reality was sometimes lost from what was presented. The pictures shown on here of Casa Fiesta do not do the home justice. The home is nothing short of spectacular and we were blessed to see some of the best sunsets on planet earth. The home is accommodating in every sense of the word. It's great for relaxation, grilling dinner with friends, lazing by the pool, or surfing the internet while planning the next days activities. The bed in the master bedroom was amazing and the kitchen comes equipped with anything you would need to prepare full course meals or just brew a good cup of coffee. No review of this home is going to be complete without speaking about the people who keep this place running and looking great, namely Diego and Jennifer. Diego keeps every part of this home functioning properly. He kept the pool in excellent condition, made himself available to answer any question regarding Potrero or the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Diego is also one of the best tour guides in the area, be it zip lining, fishing, boating, or visiting one of the National Parks. You won't find anyone more knowledgeable of the area or more giving of their time. Jennifer also provides an outstanding service in keeping the inside of the home cleaned and properly stocked of items. I will have to say that one of the best memories of this home and trip is going to be the friendship we made with them. Diego and Jennifer are quality people, and you can trust them completely. Maintaining a home like this requires much effort and dedication. Diego and Jennifer are well suited for this responsibility, and they do it with a smile every day. You won't go wrong renting this place if you're thinking about it. The only surprise I had was that it was better than I anticipated. We would go back in a heartbeat. Scott and Lib

“Everything was perfedt!” Mark, Thank you so much for your hospitality. We had a great time at your condo. Everything was perfect. The local beaches were incredible! We enjoyed the use of the beach supplies, mask and snorkels and kayak while on the beach. You have fantastic views of the ocean and Flamingo beaches from your deck. The telescope was very cool! We also viewed a lot of great wildlife in the trees. We will be back for sure! Maggie

“Paradise on the beach!” Great home on the beach! Loved that in less than 45 seconds I was at the pool and in yet another 15 seconds I was standing on the beach. I loved relaxing in the hammock that was strung between two palm trees; it doesn't get more relaxing than that! My 6 y/o son loved the pool so much we had to drag him out at sundown. The graduated "beach like" entrance into the pool made it very kid friendly. The poolside tiki bar was also fun for the adults to set up their own bar while relaxing in the pool. The house was fully stocked and was very comfortable. It is the perfect place for a family vacation and you cannot beat the price!

Luxurious Low Cost Costa Rican Villa w/Ocean View!

Manuel Antonio house

“Great rental house with all the comforts of home..” The ride up the hill is a fun little adventure in itself (You will need a 4x4). The house was amazing. Beautiful design and layout. It was just my wife and I but there is easily room for several couples in this place. Very nice & fitting décor. Fully functioning kitchen with all the things needed to cook there. A "Maxi Pali" right down the road (their version of Walmart). We cooked at least one of our meals there every day. The house to very close to some of the best fishing I`ve ever encountered (10 minutes into Quepos, the Mecca for world class fishing). Went fishing 2 days while there. Caught a 350-400lb Blue Marlin, 125lb Sailfish & a 150lb Sailfish as well. The caretakers, Vern & Anna were very nice and even made us take some groceries from their place to hold us over for the evening because it`s a little tricky going up and down the mountain your first couple times especially in the dark. There is a ton of wildlife around the house as well. We saw a huge group of little monkeys, some type of what looked to be an Eagle, seemed like millions of gorgeous colorful birds and all types of large lizards too. I will be traveling to this area as often to fish as I can and I`ll definitely stay here again if it`s available for the dates I need. Thank you guys for offering such a nice house.

Vila El Sueno de Ocotal, Golden Coast, Costa Rica, (we offer meals if requested)

Playa Ocotal villa

8 bedrooms / 7 bathrooms / sleeps 16

“Best villa and hosts one could hope for.” I stayed at Villa El Sueno de Ocotal for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery is spectacular. The room was very well maintained and in excellent condition. All the amenities as stated.. I think the best thing about staying at Villa El Sueno de Ocotal were the hosts. Calin and Silvia are excellent hosts and extremely caring people. If there was anything that you needed, Calin would make sure that you had it and always makes sure that you are well cared for and greeted upon arrival and departure. Silvia always had a ready smile for you. Would definitely recommend this villa. Only negative things were the isolation (easily resolved with a car) and the steep driveway but you wouldn't get the view unless you were located higher up the hills. Thanks again, Calin and Silvia. It was a pleasure to meet you both! I hope to see you again. Brenda

“Paradise Perfection” 5 STAR - Top notch accommodations! We could not have asked for a better place to stay! Clean, comfortable (beds were fantastic) & perfectly decorated. The hospitality both before & during our stay was above average! The beachfront villa had the most breath taking view & private lagoon style setting with black sand that glistened from the sun like gold just steps from the front door. The 3 tier pool was spotless & the grounds were impeccably groomed! Paradise on the Pacific!

PARADISE PRIVACY PRICELESS!! Don't Let Your Dates Get Away. Look At Our Reviews!

Manuel Antonio villa

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“2 weeks in heaven” Living on 200+ acres of rain-forest for 2 weeks with my wife and our 5 & 7 year old daughters was the trip of a life time. We will be telling fun tails from this trip for the rest of our lives. My favorite thing was waking up at sunrise with my daughters and competing to see who could find the most unique bird species and capture it on camera. We counted 10 different kinds of hummingbirds, numerous Toucans, 3 Stunningly brilliant blue birds and the list goes on. After that we would go an a hiking adventure to the river and waterfalls. When the morning adventures were done, we would load up the car and do an adventure in Quepos. As you already know the road is long and bumpy, but get a 4 wheel drive vehicle and enjoy the drive. You normally pay hundreds of dollars to go on a family 4 wheel drive "adventure", but it is included everyday in this awesome estate. In fact one day, we spent an entire day driving farther up the mountainside with random stops to picnicking and hike. My 5 & 7 year old daughters voted the Zip-line adventure as their favorite. My favorite Quepos adventure was deep sea fishing. We caught 12 sailfish in one day and had a 400+ pound Marlin on the line for 15 minutes until the line broke. There is nothing like seeing a 400 pound fish jump out of the water 30 feet from the boat. Peter and Deborah were incredible hosts and will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Bottom line, we highly recommend this retreat to anybody who loves nature & adventure!!
