These activities allow you to really interact with the environment and community, and experience all that Beara has to offer. There is no shortage of fresh air down in Beara so what better way to take it all in than to visit some of the many beautiful walking or hiking trails, ranging from shady woodland walks, to rugged coastline trails, to the peaks of the Caha Mountains. As a Coastal area, there are many beaches dotted around the area which have a choice of rocky and sandy shores. Beautiful and unspoiled, on a warm day they are perfect for any amount of family activities. Tip: It is common to have the beach to yourself at certain times of the day(or in the winter) so it is recommended not to swim by yourself. Star Outdoor Adventure Centre, Kenmare, invites it's visitor to take part in a fantastic amount of both water and land-based sports. These include kayaking, canoeing, sailing, pedal boating, water trampoline and slide, water-skiing and wake boarding, wildlife cruise trips, archery, orienteering, team challenges, hill-walking, paint-balling, obstacle course, crazy golf and mountain biking.
There are various location around Beara for horse riding and pony trekking. They are all family owned, local enterprises, the closest to Bothar Bui being Tir na Hilan Riding stables, which welcomes visitors to a fun and positive atmosphere and provides a unique experience of it's surroundings.
Bothar Bui shares its grounds with its fair share of nature and wildlife but if you feel like seeing even more you can take a trip to Kenmare 'Seafari' where you can see many animals living peacefully in their own habitat.
