Description

Tyn Llech is a lovingly restored 3 Bedroom 5 Star graded 17th Century two storey stone cottage nestling amongst ancient oak woodlands on a private 2000 acre country estate on the edge of Snowdonia. Originally two farm cottages, this charming house was designed by the Williams-Ellis family (Portmeirion) who have ensured that the renovations were in harmony with the surroundings. With its limed oak flooring, wood burning stove and pastel colours, whether you are looking for a romantic retreat or a family holiday, Tyn Llech won't disappoint. There are breathtaking views right across the Llyn Peninsular from both inside the house and from the pretty lawned gardens.

The rental period at Tyn Llech is Saturday to Saturday £200 deposit secures the booking with the balance paid six weeks prior to a visit. A Taste of Wales Welcome Pack is provided. Beds are made up for arrival and towels are provided (including beach towels in summer). We also give our guests the option of ordering an informal seasonal supper prepared ready for arrival.

This comfortable house has been carefully planned and offers superb facilities. The Kitchen/Dining room is well equipped with electric double oven and ceramic hob, fridge freezer and microwave at one end and table and chairs at the other. There is a separate utility room with dishwasher and washer/drier. Two steps take you up into the Sitting Room with its limed oak floor, deep comfortable sofas and chairs set around a wood burning stove in the inglenook fireplace. A basket of logs is provided, and further supplies can be purchased through the housekeeper. There is Smart 32” TV with Sky Freeview and high speed Broadband. French Windows open onto the pretty secluded garden. Leading from the sitting room, and on another split level is the Master Bedroom, which is beautifully presented with two singles which can zip together for a king size bed. There is a separate contemporary Shower room with loo, basin and a walk-in shower/wet area, heated towel rail and under floor heating with views across the fields. Upstairs are two Bedrooms, one twin room and one double room. You will see some of the owners framed drawings on the walls. These two rooms share a Bathroom with loo, basin and bath with hand-held shower.

The large landscaped, fenced and walled garden has a BBQ and garden furniture from which to enjoy the stunning views across the Llyn peninsular.

Getting around

For those not wanting to drive, there is a local bus service between Porthmadog and Abersoch which stops at the bottom of the lane and runs on a regular basis.

We do have a lovely housekeeper who will either meet you at the cottage or leave the keys in an "easy to find" place. Viv will pop round to see you during your stay to see if you need anyting.

Lovely cottage with all the amenities that you want whilst away. Plenty of walks either countryside or on the beach. Spent some time in both Criccieth and Porthmadog and both towns have everything you need.

“Beautiful comfy cottage, a real home from home”

We had a great week's stay in Tyn Llech with our 2 young children. We loved the location, the cottage and the garden, and the property was excellently equipped with nothing lacking. The housekeeping service was most welcome and we appreciated all the extra touches provided. Thank you very much.

“A wonderful experience”

Entering Tyn Llech for the fist time, we felt at home at once. Everything had been prepared with care and love to welcome us to this wonderful cottage, which the whole family took to at once. Nothing was missing for a family of five to let us enjoy two unburdened weeks on the Llyn-peninsula. The children had their rooms upstairs, together with a bathroom; they could make use of the well-kept garden/lawn outside - offering a great view towards the sea, too -, as well as the natural surroundings for their games. The dining-place in the kitchen, the living-room, the parents' bedroom, the bathroom, - every room in the house has been designed and decorated with much love for detail and quality. The friendly housekeeper, Viv, held constant contact with us, took perfect care of the house. The location of Tyn Llech is perfect for short or extended walks starting from the house itself or for excursions to Snowdonia or all over the peninsula. We'll be back soon.

“Excellent cottage with views of green fields and the sea in the distance”

The cottage was in a superb rural setting, with fantastic views down to the sea. Located only a few miles away from 2 supermarkets and the town of Porthmadog. Really enjoyed staying in an old cottage which comes with all the modern comforts e.g great walk in shower, wide screen TV, internet access, dishwasher, superb beds etc etc..
