De Kelders is internationally renowned as the best land-based whale watching venue in the world. There are also many beautiful white sand beaches in the area ranging from the De Kelders cove directly below the apartment; Stanford Cove; Pearly Beach and the seemingly never-ending De Plaat in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve and marine sanctuary. The beautiful privately-owned Grootbos Nature Reserve, widely acclaimed for its conservation of fynbos - fauna unique to the Western Cape region of South Africa - is 1km from De Kelders. There is abundant marine bird life in the reserves. Deep sea fishing, boat trips to nearby Dyer Island, beautiful walks, hikes and mountain biking are all easily accessible.
