Peaceful location amid beautiful scenery.

The house was very cosy and had every amenity, although fairly isolated as the nearest village was four miles distant. Our hosts were very charming and considerate and made us feel quite at home. A handy location for visiting the Lakes and other places of interest, such as Bolton castle and Wenseleydale cheese making at Hawes.

The cottage was very well equiped with a young baby this allowed us to spend very comfortable eveings in. The owners left you to it but were available if you need then and were happy to show you the animals. The area was great with easy access to touist attractions. We have just had a great week in this lovely cosy cottage. It is situated in a quiet lane yet only 100 yards from the main shopping area of Kirkby Lonsdale with its lovely pubs and cafes. Lovely accommodation/Area

The barn was furbished to a high standard and filled with everything you would need for a self catering holiday. It is situated in a prime location just a mile from Kendal, close enough to be near the action but far enough away that you feel secluded and peaceful when there. The owners where very friendly and helpful and we would recommend the stay to anyone!

We had a week in this lovely cottage which was excellent throughout. The owners who live in the adjoining cottage were the font of knowledge when it was needed. Good location with two pubs within walking distance both with excellent food. If you wish to cook the facilities in the cottage kitchen were very good. The wood burner on cold evenings was a delight. All in all a brill holiday.

A quiet corner of countrysidde heaven

We had such a good week at Howard's Barn, from the very first moment we arrived to a warm welcome from Tony. The property - a converted barn - is very pretty and exceptionally well arranged and furnished. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom sensibly laid out, the kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of space to either work or laze around.

We rented this property from 23 February 2013 until 2nd March 2013.This property is beautifully decorated, and very tastefully appointed.

The heating system however leaves much to be desired.

The conservatory has no heating at all so is totally unusable in winter and just makes the overall low temperature of the house even lower

Absolutely splendid

I cannot rate this accommodation highly enough.We stayed for a long weekend with our extended family, including young children and one small pet. and found everything was well catered for, from kitchen equipment, cot beds etc .     Great spot for day hikes

    This was a lovely little cottage in a very private location. It had a great kitchen (perfect for an evening roast) and a very nice fireplace in the living room.     Excellent aqccomodation in a wonderful location, Whernside overlooks the property. The owners are friendly and helpful, there's lots to do within esay reach yet you are truly in the wilds. One word of warning, the directions to the property talk of turning left at the first gate, this gate is the first one across the road, not the first gate to a property.     Lovely cottage ideally placed for walking in the Dales.

    Cottage well equipped,spotlessly clean and cosy. Home made marmalade and fresh eggs were a treat. Hawes only 10 minutes away. Lots of walks to suit everyone. Railway line opposite was a novelty. Owners very easy to get on with and friendly - the file in the cottage which tells you everything you need to know is worth its weight in gold!
    We will definately return.
