We have just returned from a long several-country trip - finding that sometimes extensive independent traveling can be a bit tiring. Thank goodness about half way through our journey we were fortunate to stay at Le Pasteur - hosted there by Viviane Pelisson who provided us with such kind, helpful hospitality.
This spacious apartment is one of three the Pelissons own and it is located very conveniently for walking into the historic district of Dijon - as well as to the train station, about 20 minutes away on foot. From there a quick rail ride took us to Beaune and, also on another day from this same station, a bus delivered us to the nearby Vougeot vineyards and the Cistercian castle there - well worth going to each of these places. Just be sure to check the return bus times.
Staying in the apartment allowed us space to spread out, unpack and do laundry, read/research and listen to music, catch up on emailing, rest comfortably and quietly all night and it was even fun to cook our own breakfast. Just next door there is a bakery for delicious pastries and sandwiches. Also, a handy information packet gave us plenty of suggestions for where to buy supplies and where to dine - and things to do in the area. We could have easily used more than 3 days here as a base.
Accustomed to staying often in B&B's, we were impressed that with this self-catering arrangement, Vivian gave us just as much, or more, assistance. She was easily contacted by email and readily came over from her adjacent home to talk with us. As busy as she is with her family and business, she took the time to be interested in...
