Additional Location Information

1 mile south of the famous mediaeval walled town of Dinan, Léhon boasts its own 11th century castle and 13th century abbey. The Cottage (known as Hillside Cottage) is located just over the ancient stone bridge at the bottom of the steep hill leading towards Lanvallay. It faces the the River Rance, which is a wide canal at this point. The house looks out to the river and over the bridge to the ancient houses lining the pedestrianised lane into Léhon village itself.

Visitors can park just opposite the Cottage to unload and then park back over the bridge (50m) in well lit, designated parking spaces, visible from the cottage.

Turning right out of the front door leads to the towpath along the banks of the Rance with spectacular woodlands and cliffs towards the canal lock (200 yards) and the pleasure port of Dinan, 2km away. Over the bridge into Léhon leads to the restaurant, 11th century castle and 13th century Abbey and its cloisters with the large open air, heated swimming pool lido in its grounds. Behind the pool is the opposite bank of the Rance, through ancients woodlands to steep paths for the ultra fit to climb up to Dinan or walk on along the riverside path to the lower town part of Dinan. .

Turning left over the bridge leads along the Rance towards another wide cyclable towpath which leads eventually(!) to the south of Brittany, excellent for long walks and bike rides.
