Do not be fooled by the state’s nickname, “The Sunshine State”; a daily rainstorm can be expected from May through August. If your stay brings you to Orlando over the winter, be sure to pack a few warm layers- temperatures can be chilly, especially during the evening.

There is a delightful boat tour of a beautiful chain of lakes in Winter Park at the end of Morse Avenue. On Park Avenue in Winter Park spend an afternoon at the Morse Tiffany Museum. Fabulous original Tiffany glass windows and his objects d'art. On Fairbanks Avenue (also Winter Park) is the Albin Polask Sculpture Garden - lovely, pe...

"Everyone knows about the major theme parks, but there are tons of other fun places to check out. A great one is The Greenmeadow Petting Zoo in Kissimmee, which is completely delightful for children as well as Mom & Dad. They have a great train ride, hay rides, pony rides and for those with a lot of energy, you can chase some chickens and ducks. The fun doesn't stop there either! You can milk a cow, pet bunnies, gerbils, sheep, goats, horses and birds. Laid back and too cute f...

"Zip lining is the new fun around here. Gatorland offer zipping over the gators. Sandford Zoo has a fun go from platform to platform jungle experience in the tree tops. The biggest, fastest and craziest zip lines are at Forever Florida. They also have horse riding and Wild Adventure packages. It's in St. Cloud which is Southeast of Orlando. Florida back country worth the reasonably short drive as well."

"The Arts and Music available in Orlando are fantastic. From the Amway Center for major live concerts and sports, to the brand new Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center, to the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Downtown Theater (community players) the Orlando Rep (plays for children), The Orlando Museum of Art, and The Science Center to name a few you can stretch your experiences beyond theme parks.
