Once you walk into Villa Playa Vista you will not want to leave. This individual private home with two-bedrooms, two and one half bath overlooks the Pacific Ocean at a unique location where you can watch the surf all day long and listen to it all night long. The beach directly below Villa Playa Vista is noted as one of the most picturesque in the area due to the cove created by the peninsula of land that juts into the ocean and the adjoining Tree Island†that is accessible at low tide. Further along the uninterrupted 1.7 mile palm-lined beach you see the anchorage where the local fishermen keep their boats and the rock outcroppings that give the beach its unique character.
A fully equipped kitchen will allow you to prepare some of your favorite meals using the local fresh produce and fruits. Your private pool beckons to be enjoyed and the covered terrace will provide hours of outside living, the way most of the locals spend their time with great opportunities for wildlife viewing - especially early in the morning. Villa Playa Vista was the model for this gated community with 24 hour security so it sits on one of the best view spots in the development. Plenty of parking too.
The unit is perfect for 2 couples when the two identical master bedrooms are set up with king beds. Two twin-sized beds can be requested to be set up in one the rooms or each room can have a twin set up in addition to the king to increase the sleeping capacity. This makes for close quarters but can work well depending on family needs. Rates are set for four people with a $10 per day per person for more than four people.
Internet connectivity is available for your laptop or you can use our equipment at our office just 1 Km. In addition to the amenities that are listed, there are a couple beach chairs you can use for your fun in the sun, the DVD player with a few movies and TV shows is available. Located only 3 Km south of Dominical you are in the heart of all the activities that there are to enjoy in the vicinity including surfing the very popular beach right in Dominical or enjoying the more gentle waves at many of the close-by beaches.
Arrangements have been made with the neighbors next door for groups that are as large as 4 couples or more if the dates of occupancy work out.
Villa Playa Vista sits on a jungle ridge and so to the rear are views of the primary jungle with roads for your morning walks just outside your front door. There is even a local swimming hole with a gorgeous waterfall just a short distance away. There are beach chairs and a soft cooler you can take to the beach. We have two boogie boards you can rent for your entire visit for $10 each and also a cell phone for calls within Costa Rica at our cost.

Cecile and I arrived very late in the night and it was great to have outstanding directions from Dave and Deb on how to get from San Jose to Dominical...they really do want you to have an excellent time and not to worry about anything but what to do next and where to eat.
Heading back from the beach or rainforest hike it is just heaven to take a dip in the pool and sit out on the patio and just watch the waves roll in. It is amazing that if you look out the front door you can see up to the mountains and see the clouds roll in when it is about to rain and out the back you can see the beach...both a mountain and beach view.
Make sure that when you hear a bark at the front door that you let in a wonderful female copper-colored dog which we named "Penny". She comes in and wants a cool drink of water, hangs out a bit, and then goes right back out the door...very adorable...she did not like my cooking but she may like yours.
Seriously folks, if you are looking for an excellent value for the money that is centrally located where you can go 40 mins one way and be in Manual antonio, Jaco, or Quepos...or spend 1 hour beach hopping all the way down to Golfito, you need to stay here.
We had such a wonderful time getting away from all the kids and work and reconnecting as a couple...recharged our batteries that we are coming back with some of our family members in December for Christmas in Costa Rica at Costa del Mar !!!

Staying at Canto Del Mar was a more than getaway, it completely exceeded any expectations I may have had. Our villa overlooking the ocean was a highlight of my stay. Falling asleep to the serene sound of the waves and oceanlife and waking to the sunrise across the Pacific while having coffee on the deck was a rejunvitating start to my mornings. The accomidations were stellar--I especially enjoyed having my own private bathroom! If you plan on staying in Domincal, I highly recommend Canto Del Mar.

From the very first email contact to the much dreaded last day in Dominical, Dave was a pleasure to deal with (he even took the time to abet my husband with a stellar april fools joke :D ). Dave went above and beyond what was expected and helped create a virtually stress/problem free vacation. Hotels in San Jose, car rentals (definitely get a four wheel drive!), directions to Dominical, excursion reservations, restaurant and grocery store recommendations ~ you name it he's got it covered and his advice was always dead on.
The Dominical area is such a comfortable friendly place with breath-taking views, beaches that make you act like a kid again, and adventures everywhere. Canto Del Mar villa is gorgeous, clean and comfortable. My children especially enjoyed the pool and my daughter actually learned to swim in it.
I have and will continue to recommend this villa and experience to my friends and family. We had a wonderful adventure!

Our family of five stayed here in early april and had a great time. The villa was very nice and the views were unbelievable. We walked in the front door when we first arrived and the view took our breath away. The villa had a giant open living area on the main floor with an open kitchen and huge sliding doors that overlooked the ocean. Off to the side was a very nice patio with our very own pool (which the kids were always in). the lower level included two large bedrooms with their own bath and a laundry room. With three kids the laundry room came in handy. All of the fixtures and furniture were very nice. We would sit on the patio with our coffee every morning and watch and listen to all of the tropical birds and watch the Pacific.
The owner Dave was an excellent "host". He provided tons of local information on what to see and do. He set up a fishing trip for us, told us about "tuna Tuesday" at Tortilla Flats - a must, and even brought over some killer guacamole.
We would come back to Villa Playa Vista in a heartbeat.

This property was ideal for enjoying all that is Costa Rica - amazing ocean vistas, an array of beautiful beaches just minutes away, and jungle wildlife at your window. If you're looking for adventure or a reasonable place to eat, owners Dave & Debbie offer personal assistance to ensure every detail is beyond expectations. The home is the ideal size with adequate space for a family of five or two couples. It has breathtaking views, a refreshing & private pool, grill, and even air conditioning. We've been all over Costa Rica and so far Dominical is our favorite area. It offers so much diversity that seems far of the beaten path but took less than 3 hours to reach from San Jose. You can't go wrong with Dave & Dominical!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Playa Vista. The villa was truly amazing. There is something magical about the view off the deck. Not to mention the daily visits from a tree sloth, white faced monkeys, a giant green iguana, toucans and numerous other animals. Dave was a great manager, guide, secretary and friend as well. He made numerous reservations for us before we even arrived and then checked on us throughout our stay. It was great having a local expert at our beck and call. How else would you know that the freshest tuna arrives on 'Tuna Tuesdays' at Tortilla Flats? Our only recommendation would be to definately rent a 4X4 vehicle. The drive up to the villa requires it, especially if it's raining.

I have had the opportunity to travel to beautiful Costa Rice five times in the past 2 years. Every time I have such a new amazing experience and this trip was not exception. My husband and I stayed in Villa Playa Vista @ Canto Del Mar. We love this location as is has spectacutlar views of both ocean sunsets and jungle life. Also giving us easy access to travel north or south on the costanera highway to a variety of fun activities and excellent restaurants.
This visit we experienced many jungle animal sittings. On are arrival we spotted a beautiful mature sloth. He was so cooperative (his very slow movement) allowed us to view his climb over a 45 minute period. We have seen sloths before, but not so close and personal as this viewing. Later in our trip we easily spotted a second sloth (we dubbed her the "the sunset sloth") as she was in a very large tree at sunset every night of our visit. We enjoyed the incredible vista right along with her.
We had a pair of lovely Tucans that arrive every morning around 7am and every afternoon at 4PM. The animal life is very routine so if you're paying attentiong you can see them daily on their time schedules. We also spotted white faced monkeys, extremely beautiful blue butterflys and many other birds at Canto Del Mar.
You won't find a better host than Dave & Deb. They know their Costa Rica and are very accommodating to your every desire. Trips and activities, massage, restaurant and food advise, you name it they have it available for you.
We thank Dave for his hospitality, service and fun ride to "Movies in the Jungle" ... now you will have to contact him
for your own adventure.

The house is beautiful on both the outside and inside. It is designed very well for comfort and some of the most spectacular views we have ever experienced. The outside terrace and pool area add a delightful respite and the best breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot in the area. You will never want to leave. If this all wasn't enough, Dave and Debbie are the most accomodating hosts with whom you will feel an immediate kinship. Enjoy.

Wauw, what an experience. Everywhere you are in the villa you will have a magnificent view overlooking the ocean. From your bedroom when you wake up, from the kitchen, from the sitting area and off course on the terrace. On the terrace there is a barbecue, a table and seats to enjoy the sunsets and just enjoying the courageous surroundings, a hammock and last but certainly not least a pool. The villa has air conditioning and two bedrooms with both a bathroom around the corner of your bed. It is a very clean house. All the facilities you are looking for are there. The owners are great people. They will give you ideas what to do and where to eat in the area. Only when you ask them. They will take the time for you and will invite you to join them for a drink or even dinner. So I will say, go there and enjoy the magnificent experience.

We felt very nervous, traveling to a foreign land, a relatively large financial commitment and only one week vacation! Fortunately we encountered this wonderful, responsible and scrupulous owner, whom we trusted and, who met our highest expectations.
Now, we arrive, Oh My God! We stood in the Living Room and we unable to believe the 270 degree panoramic view! We stared over the edge of the Balcony, watching the Eagles sore 100' away and the fishermen in small fishing boats bobbing in the golden-hued pacific. We finally went on a tour and found a spotless accomodation with every amenity in two complete and fully appointed Master Bedroom Suites, each with Luxury designer baths and 10' high glass sliding doors opening to the 75 degree Costa Rican air and caress of the westerly Pacific Breeze. Quickly changing, we headed to the upstairs, Cathedral ceilinged, backlit and Luxuriously appointed Living/ Kitchen/ Dining area. Fixing a snack and a drink we slid into the private 120 sq ft, 4' deep, soaking pool, in complete privacy, not even aware of any neighbors. The Nearby Town of Dominical and the numerous, completely free, World Class Beaches, are all but a few minutes drive from your own Nirvana. We would stop at the little roadside stands, offering the finest fruits, vegetables and home cooked delicacies imaginable (I think we both lost 5 lbs in a week, we ate so well! :) We encountered anything quite like this two level Designer Villa. Approximately 400' above the Ocean and perhaps 1000' from the Breakers, but perched on a stable steep hill overlooking The Pacific and incredible "Lazy Fluorescent Gold Sunsets".
The owner of the Villa allowed us all the Privacy we requested. We were met with instructions and all of our questions were handled professionally and timely. In addition, he was a fantastic resource to local attractions and we found he was greatly respected in this Community. We have every intention of returning to this Property for other Vacations.

My family and I stayed at Villa Playa Vista this past summer and had the most amazing experience. We were lucky that Dave was in town the day we arrived. He proved to be a wonderful host, personally taking us to the villa and showing us around the town of Dominical. His knowledge of the area, and timeliness in response to questions or needs really made the trip feel like a vacation. The Villa has a beautiful view of Dominicalito, which the boys preferred to surf over Dominical which is a bigger break. We felt secluded in the midst of the jungle, with the beaches and town a short drive away. Having a pool was not a requirement for us going into the trip, but absolutely will be going forward. The surf is not always in condition for swimming, having the pool was a great alternative for keeping cool. The outdoor area next to the pool is covered, creating the a great outdoor space to enjoy afternoon storms or just take in the wildlife. We saw monkeys jumping through the trees several afternoons/evening...very cool! The villa has a full-size washer and dryer, a huge convenience while traveling. The main floor of the villa is a great-room, perfect for relaxing. The full-kitchen was great for cooking when we didn't feel like going out. We found a nearby waterfall, which we had to ourselves, and typically the beaches were all ours as well. Lots of surf spots can be found off of the main road, and my sister and I always felt safe on the beach while the boys were in the water surfing. Sandra, in Dave's office, helped set up a zip-line tour that we thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of other activities are available, depending on your interests and time. Not only was the location great, and the villa ideal...but Dave really helped make us feel safe and secure, leading us to have a true vacation. Feeling at home, away from home, is important to my family. Dave helped create just that.

We had such a wonderful vacation at Canto Del Mar,my husband, my daughter and her husband, our two grandchildren, ages 10 and 3 and me. The view was spectacular, ever changing, blue ocean view from the kitchen, from the gathering room, from the bedrooms.
The villa was immaculate and spacious. The kitchen contained all our needs. The two and a half bathrooms served our group well. Right outside the livingroom is a fabulous deck with that lovely ocean view and a swimming pool...all our own. The beach is also nearby, actually several beaches. Just down the hill is a wonderful waterfall with a refreshing swimming hole.
The villa is an easy drive to many restaurants, shops, and down-town Dominical. There is so much to do and see.
It was such a special vacation with hosts who welcome you
so genuinely. And if you're really lucky, perhaps you'll receive a visit from them with refreshing drinks in hand and the best guacamole you've ever tasted.
