Balinakill was a very spacious and comfortable home which made our stay both fun and relaxing. Lots of bedrooms and bathrooms. The house is well suited for families or just adults, we combined a little of both. The beach is a stone's throw away, no need to pack a lunch as it was so easy to walk back for a quick bite to eat. We had lots of fun chasing the hundreds of ghost crabs that comb the beach at night. The community pool was a great added bonus. It is a short drive away and has a beautiful view. It was nice escape to when we were tired from riding the waves. We sat outside every night in the open air porch, there was plenty of space and almost no bugs! The hot tub was a really nice way to enjoy the stars at night. The house is in the beautiful Sanderling community of Duck and had a really quaint and hometown feel. The beaches are private and the area is not the commercial scene as we found the other parts of OBX to be. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with just about every utensil you could need and we had huge family dinners every night. The large modern TV came in handy during thunderstorms. The only complaint is the charcoal grill was too small for preparing meals for our group of 12, we used the oven and stove the most. Otherwise I would recommend this home to anyone looking for the ideal Outer Banks vacation!

We traveled with my parents and brother and his children. There were 10 of us total. This house fit our family - it was large enough that we were not on top of each other. The house is very close to the beach, there was also a nature trail next to the house that was nice for any one looking for another option besides body surfing the waves.
The kitchen was large enough that multiple cooks could cook at the same time. 2 things worth mentioning: if your family enjoys cooking there are no "sharp" knives - we managed. The grill is a small state park type grill - so cooking for large families needs to happen in shifts. We made it work - had the time we were on vacation :-)
Also, we had one slip up when we arrived - the house comes with bed linens. However, we were short pillowcases. We called the rental office and they promptly came with additional pillowcases. Great service!!
We rented some bikes and spent some time riding to various towns - it's a very easy ride on the Outter Banks.
The house itself is about 3 miles from Duck. It's quiet and less crowded. You have plenty of "space" on the beach even during the week of July 4th.
Overall it was a great visit - we plan on going again.

This was our third year at Balinakill and 5th year at OBX. We love the house, which fits two families with kids. The remodeled kitchen was a nice improvement. A short walk t the beach and close to the community pool. We'll be back next year.
