A Truly "unique" property. Situated in the heart of the old town of Edinburgh only 200 metres from the world famous Edinburgh Castle is our historic apartment " The Castle Snug ", whilst staying at the Castle Snug you will be perfectly located to experience everything that Edinburgh has to offer. This unique property is available from only £43 per person per night.

The apartment, which is situated on ground level, is a studio featuring a Queen size bed which pulls out of the bookcase and a second Queen size bed located on the mezzanine level and prvides accommodation for 4 adults (a travel cot can be provided if requested ).

The apartment is most suitable for:

Honeymoons / Romantic breaks.

Family holidays ( although small children require supervision due to mezzanine level ).

Corporate accommodation.

The Tattoo / concerts on the Castle Esplanade.

The apartment itself is steeped in history. Built around 1700, it was the home of writer James Boswell and in this very apartment he played host to Dr Samuel Johnson in the weeks leading up to the departure upon their " Journey to the Western Islands of Scotland " in the Autumn of 1773.

The main living area features original exposed stone walls and cedar ceiling and is sumptuously furnished with oxblood leather chesterfield seating and footstools alongside a Jotul cast iron stove.Should you choose to dine "at home", there is a fully equipped kitchen and a small dining area seating four. The bathroom is fully tiled and has a full size bath with a Mira Sport 10.8kw instant shower over. The apartment is strictly no smoking and pets are not permitted.

“Two words - Stay Here!”

We stayed here for 6 nights over Hogmanay and it was fabulous. A family of four adults, we found the quarters were snug, to be sure, and our adult children are used to sharing a double bed when on holidays, so things were fine on that score. Everything in the apartment was in great working order - good stove, heating, washing machine, hot water, bathroom. The beds were comfy and the place has oodles of character and charm. The TV is old fashioned, but if you’ve come to Edinburgh to watch the telly then you probably need to reassess your priorities! The best thing is the location! Within walking distance of almost everything that matters in this city, all lanes and pathways lead back to Castle Snug. We loved it! The hosts, Brian and Christine, were helpful and very responsive. I recommend this place highly, as long as you remember that it is called ‘Snug’ for a reason!

If Brian (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
