Castle Terrace is in a superb central location to the west of the Old Town looking up towards the Castle impressively silhouetted against the sky. The Lyceum Theatre, the Usher Hall and the Traverse Theatre are on your doorstep and many of Edinburgh's historic tourist attractions are within easy walking distance. The renowned Castle Terrace restaurant is just round the corner and there are plenty of other eateries and bars close by. Groceries can be purchased within a few minutes of the apartment and foodies amongst you may enjoy browsing the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings.
This spacious first floor apartment sleeps up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms. The front door leads into a large welcoming hallway furnished with a console table and chair off which all the rooms radiate. A traditional Edinburgh Press houses a collection of books for the entertainment of guests.
The living room is situated to the front of the property and offers breath-taking views of Edinburgh Castle through two large astragalled windows. This generously proportioned room has many original features including white marble fireplace and pretty Georgian cornicing. A comfortable blue sofa and two cheerful blue and white striped armchairs are grouped round a coffee table and flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player. There is Wi-Fi internet access in the apartment and the owners have also provided an X box with a selection of games and some DVDs. In the far corner of the room there is a dining table which can seat up to 6 people and a wooden side board with lamp.
A stylish kitchen with wood floor, cream units, dark work tops and black tiles is well equipped with a gas hob and double electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and Victorian airer. A small table with seating for 4 people is great for informal dining. A large storage cupboard houses iron and ironing board. A travel cot has been provided for guests travelling with a baby.
The splendid master bedroom is also situated to the front of the building and enjoys the same magnificent views. Furnished with a double bed and two pine bed side table and lamps, wardrobe and chest of drawers - there is plenty of hanging and drawer space. An original black marble fireplace has a large mirror over it.
Two further bedrooms to the rear of the property both have double beds, a bedside table, a chest of drawers and a wardrobe. Both rooms have pretty personal touches and overlook attractive rear gardens.
An internal bathroom clad luxurious limestone has bath with electric shower over and a basin with mirror over. A separate large vanity mirror and shelf provide a useful area for toiletries and cosmetics. Myself and friends stayed in this lovely,typical edinburgh style apartment earlier this year. The location is convenient for all the main attractions ie the Royal Mile,Grassmarket,theatres,princes st etc. There was a fab farmers market on the Saturday morning right on the doorstep! There are also plenty of local shops,cafes etc. I am not sure how you would manage parking if you had a car as we came on the train. We were very comfortable, in particular the beds and bedding were great and I even bought myself a new duvet on my return home in the same make. The management were very helpful and easy to deal with.
