Victorian-era charm meets fun-loving Caribbean flair at Buccaneer Hill. Perched atop a mountain overlooking Bahama’s historic Governor’s Harbour, the villa’s storybook veranda is arguably the best place in the area to witness the sky colors change from one pretty hue to the next.
And the porch is only the beginning. A swimming pool and tons of equipment for fun and friendly competition, like croquet, horseshoes and badminton, will keep you and your fellow guests entertained for hours. After the game, cool down in the property’s shaded lush gardens, carefully tended to by a full-time gardner. Rest under fruit and poinciana trees. If you fancy a late afternoon swim, the pristine beach is a swift 10-minute walk away.
After a complete renovation in 2009, the home exemplifies a perfect fusion of modernity and Victorian era charm. High vaulted ceilings bring a signature Bahamian airiness to the villa, complemented by warm pastel hues and fresh white mouldings. Carefully selected antiques bring a sense of homeyness to the space. The open concept communal spaces were made with family gathering in mind; play a game of cards at the dining table while dinner is cooking, and toss on the vacation iPod playlist too.
Each of the five bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom with a shower to promise there are no fights over the best shower time. Two equally-appointed bedrooms boast a king size bed, phone and television. On the villa’s top floor there’s the perfect place for the a group of kids to call their own—a room with four twin beds. The remaining two bedrooms have two doubles beds and a queen size bed respectively. For extra space, the property also boasts a separate cottage, perfect for a couple, that can be rented on its own or with the entire estate.
Whether you call Buccaneer Hill temporarily yours for a family reunion, holiday gathering, or a vacation escape with friends—prepare to be mesmerized by the sea views from atop the hill.

We brought three families with 5 children to relax, enjoy the beach and get in some long bike rides. We found the Buccaneer Hill house to be the perfect location, layout and style for our trip. Everyone had numerous options of things to do, places to play and relax around the home. - Alex R., Texas, USA

Our family of 10, including 3 young grandchildren, enjoyed everything about our stay on this island. The house we rented was spacious without being ostentatious, and nicely furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful. We went to a different beach each day and ran out of adjectives to describe how nice they were. The travel to and from the island was the only blot on what otherwise was a delightful vacation -- we would steer people away from a charter with Twin Air as we had a horrible time getting there and getting off the island.

The island of Eleuthera is extreemely underdeveloped and this is not a place to go if you want a lively, full service holiday .There are a few lovely resteraunts/bars with an excellent live music scene of local musicians. There is not alot of sign posting if you are trying to find beaches /caves /shops so be prepared to search for them .And there almost no retail shopping .The beaches, however, are SPECTACULAR.Long deserted crescents with the softest sugar sand with almost NO ONe on them. The natural beauty of the coast-line is breathtaking but you have to be prepared to rent a car and drive. The Bucaneer Hill house is exquisite ,perfectly appointed ,with no detail overlooked .There is no boundary wall so I did feel a litttle trepidatious esp.at night.Pool area could do with a little more plantings to make it more tropical feeling and in keeping with the high standard of the house.
