Come share my home, "Three Palms," while you stay in its adorable private guest cottage "The Dew Drop Inn II" on the grounds. This property was once the home of a famous female painter and her Artist Studio still stands between the Main House and The Cottage. Beyond The Studio is a very secluded full-sized swimming pool with sunning patio and screened gazebo with 185' on Flamingo Lake.
There is no "competition" to use the bikes, gas grill, in-ground pool or parking because you two are the only "guests" here other than the birds and wild life. So many types of birds, wood storks, ibis, blue heron, egret, eagle and osprey in your own back yard that you will need a book to identify them all. The lake is teeming with fish, painted shell turtles and even an occasional otter family or alligator.
One year there was even a nest of colorful wild parakeets teaching their babies to fly that amused us constantly in a Queen Palm. I can only guess from what friends and family who visited have shared in their guest book comments which will become your favorite thing about your stay here.
The restorative peace and quiet that will renew your body and spirit? The beauty of the gardens, patios with fountains, flowering crepe myrtle trees and unusual tropical flowers like the nine foot tall wild ginger? There is an eight foot tall jasmine bush shaped like a heart that is breath-taking in the Spring. And, while it's named "Three Palms, there are actually more than 18 different types of them!
The Old Florida "feel" of Englewood? When I first came here someone told me "There is no City Hall. There is no Mayor. Englewood is not a city. It is not a town. It is a place." You won't find any crazy traffic jams here in our quaint little "place."
Its four distinctly different beaches are within a short drive. Chadwick's can be done by bike if you're reasonably fit. With Stump Pass State Park, Chadwick's Beach, Blind Pass Beach and Manasota Key Beach, you'll never be at a loss for gathering shark teeth or sea shells as souvenirs for taking back home while feeling like you are already "home."
The feeling of seclusion living in The Cottage while being close enough to walk to Indian Mound Park at Lemon Bay, the library, playhouse theatre, supermarket, drug store, banks, shops and restaurants? Most visitors will want to have use of a car during their stay but you don't need to always use one. It's your choice.
And now The Cottage. There is so much to say about that special place. If you don't like white picket fences and the color Fairytale Pink, you might not like The Dew Drop Inn II. Yet I doubt that will happen to most people who come here. All my guests have hated to leave.
It is very well equipped and compact without being cramped at 692 Sq. Ft. with cathedral ceilings and kitchen windows facing the lake for a wonderful sunny morning view. The kitchen was recently redone with hardwood cabinets and granite countertops. Ceiling fans are present for cooler days and for those who dislike air-conditioning in warm weather. Hardwood bamboo floors and tile in living areas make it easy to care for during an extended visit. The full bathroom has a ceramic tile stall shower past the entry door; perfect if you're coming out of the pool or just back from the beach.
There are plenty of utensils, pots and pans, bake ware, glasses and dishes to have guests over for dinner or for a lovely winter stay of five months (no snow here, we go to the beach on Christmas Day). Enjoy home cooked meals at your dining table, breakfast bar or carpeted lanai facing the lake. Fully stocked with linens: towels, beach towels, sheets, blankets, dishtowels, dishcloths and every other item you might need for a comfortable stay. All you need are your clothes and personal items and you're ready to go! If you don't see what you need, your Hostess next door can probably provide it if you ask.
And the best news is most of your needs can be accommodated including airport pick-up/drop-off service scheduled in advance, laundry service, grocery shopping prior to arrival and regular cleaning service for stays in excess of a week, all at additional cost. With on-site concierge service, we can accommodate many last minute requests.
While there are no large shopping malls with movie theatres in Englewood, you'll find Venice, Sarasota and Port Charlotte are within driving distance and are more cosmopolitan in what they offer. Miami is about a three hour drive, Key West about nine hours (there is a boat excursion out of Fort Myers Beach to Key West for about $129 R/T) and Orlando about 2 1/2 hours.
I look forward to sharing my "Paradise" with you while we're still here on earth!
