Description
Set in a pretty rural region of northern France, under one hour away from Calais and Boulogne ferry ports and Eurotunnel, this beautifully restored barn retaining original features and a handbuilt staircase offers comfortable living accommodation for a couple, or couple and a baby. Can be rented with property 17517 (in the next village) to accommodate a larger group. Tastefully decorated, this property is situated in a small village close to Montreuil sur Mer and is set in the courtyard of the owners' property. It has a living room with beams and a chimney with imitation woodburner stove, original manger and racking, fully fitted kitchen with washing machine and dining area. Hand built stairs to mezzanine area with separate double bedroom and shower room, both with beams. Electric heating throughout (end May - 1 September included only) gas, bedlinen and towels are included in the rental price but local Tourist Tax is payable on arrival at 80ct per adult per night.
Enjoy the terrace in front of the barn or perhaps spend a day lounging around the shared splash pool during the summer months .Guests are also invited to enjoy our private BBQ hut in our garden for an extra special dining experience during their stay (subject to availability). For the more adventurous, cycling is very popular and you can hire electric bikes at the local Tourist Information centre, or explore the lovely villages and towns that grace this unspoilt area of France. Visit St Omer with its lovely square or play the challenging 18 hole golf course just 20 minutes away at St Omer, one of the best in France. Visit the walled city of Montreuil sur Mer with is gastronomic restaurants and panoramic views from the ramparts or head for the sandy beaches that run the 250km down the Cote d'Opal. Whether you want sophisticated resorts like Le Touquet with is designer shopping and casino, or more unspoilt coastal treasures, there is a beach to please everyone.

“fantastic christmas break”
we had an excellent Christmas break at the barn. The barn is very cosy and comfortable it is well equipped with everything yo need. Sarah and David the owners are so friendly and helpful. we will definitely be staying again .

Response from the owner Thank you for reviewing the Barn and we take all feedback serious however, we would like to point out that it is very unfair to criticise the Barn at the end of your holiday when you are sitting in the car ready to go which gives us no chance to address the issues. Internet access is available and other guests have used it with little problems in the past, although the signal can be weak at times as we are very rural, and the comment regarding work was meant as a joke but you obviously did not appreciate it. We are looking at a system to improve the strength of the connexion, particularly with iPads, but I have just responded to your comment whilst sitting in the Barn with my PC, testing the connectivity and it is fine. The Barn is fully cleaned between guests and should there have been a problem with dust and cobwebs we would have addressed it immediately. Admittedly the oven glove was not there but there was a pan holder - a new oven glove is now in the drawer, as is a new frying pan (there were 2 small deep French style frying pans and a normal size pyrex one). We added extra pans in various sizes so guests have a great choice to use. The instructions for the oven are in the information pack in the kitchen drawer although I did show you on the first night how to light the oven, which is very simple and matches are provided. The Barn is for a couple so there is not a huge fridge but it is normally adequate and it has a small freezer box as noted in the description. You forgot to mention in your review that we kindly let you use our personal freezer for all the UK milk you brought, nor the fact that we also invited you for aperitifs at our other property at which point you managed to insult your hosts. We strive very hard to make sure all our guests have an enjoyable holiday and we have had many satisfied guests, many of whom have returned time and time again to us. As previously stated had we been aware of the issues you found, we could have rectified them immediately.
