Additional Location Information
Located in Las Croabas, Fajardo, Puerto Rico on the edge of Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve containing the bioluminescent Laguna Grande and the historic Faro de Fajardo Spanish Lighthouse on the Northeast tip of Puerto Rico with stunning views of the coast and surrounding islands, and the beautiful Blue Flag Seven Seas Beach from where you can see El Yunque National Rainforest. There are several great restaurants in Fajardo and it is also home of the renowned El Conquistador Resort with its Golf course, Spa, Water Park and Palominos Island with Horseback riding on the beach. From Fajardo you can visit Vieques and Culebra Islands on the ferry for only $4 Round Trip, plus charter boats to the other islands for fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling and sailing. El Yunque National Rainforest is only 25 minutes away and the new #66 Expressway takes you to the International Airport in 45 minutes, Old San Juan in an hour and to explore the rest of the island.
Filming for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 starts January 2013 in Puerto Rico. The Black Pearl ship is already anchored at Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo and they will film ocean scenes around Seven Seas Beach. Johnny Depp and the film's producers got a very good impression of Puerto Rico when they filmed several scenes of the last Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, in Old San Juan and Fajardo in September 2010. Coincidentally, in 1717 Blackbeard, the real infamous Caribbean pirate, ambushed a Spanish armada ship sailing for Spain loaded with treasures from Havana, La EspaĂąola and Puerto Rico off the coast of Fajardo. Local legends say he buried the treasure in the sea caves under the rocky cliffs off Seven Seas, below where the Spanish later built El Faro de Fajardo to guide and protect their ships coming and going from Europe. WARNING: The beaches along the north Atlantic coast of Puerto Rico are more dangerous during Winter because the currents and winds are stronger. Thankfully Fajardo's Seven Seas Beach is in a bay naturally protected by reefs that keep the waters calm, clean, clear and warm. It has many safe shallow areas perfect for wading ashore, swimming and snorkeling. I like to take my guests away from the public beach to the secluded beaches along the Nature Reserve where it feels like a pristine private island and they can experience the breathtaking romantic views of El Faro de Fajardo above the Laguna Grande with its mangrove forests, El Yunque with its mysterious rainclouds, and the beautiful coastline with its clear turquoise waters teeming with sea life.
Our Apartments are across the street from Las Vistas CafĂŠ which serves good American, Caribbean and Vegetarian breakfast and lunch with 5-star TripAdvisor reviews. We are a short walk to affordable decent Puerto Rican seafood restaurants and a short drive to US fast food restaurants like Domino's, Pizza Hut, Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, Ponderosa, Sizzler, Sushi Boat, Wendy's, Panda Express plus other Chinese and Mexican restaurants that deliver. We're also close to shopping malls with CVS/pharmacy, Walgreen's, Kmart, Sears, Walmart and local supermarkets if you want to save more money and cook your own meals in the modern kitchen equipped with full refrigerator, electric range, microwave, toaster and coffeemaker.
Las Croabas is one of the safest neighborhoods in Puerto Rico because of its proximity to the Waldorf Astoria El Conquistador Resort and Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve. Our apartments, tropical garden and yard are surrounded by high concrete walls for added privacy and security. Guests have their own private entrance and parking with controlled access secured by an electric gate.
The police precinct is several blocks away and we are located next to a church. Plus one of our neighbors is a police officer and president of the police union. He lives with his family next to other professional couples with children. So it is a very safe and family friendly area. My family and I are right next door available 24/7 should you need anything.
