Description from the owner
Domaine de la Tour is a magnificent 18th century farmhouse, situated in peaceful countryside and very close to the medieval town of Falaise, Lower Normandy.
We have two very comfortable self catering cottages (gites) which are set in 7 hectares of land offering a tranquil, rural retreat in which to relax and unwind. Each gite sleeps up to 8 people. Formerly stables to the nearby chateau, the two gites have been entirely renovated whilst keeping their authentic charm.
Both gites have a spacious living area with leather sofas and english satellite TV, a DVD-player and a library of DVDs for kids and parents. Free Wi-Fi internet access is available ...Read more

Additional Location Information
Domaine de la Tour is situated 1km off the main road, surrounded by 500 hectares of forest and agricultural land. Parking is no problem and the area is very safe. The nearest town is Falaise, birthplace of William the Conqueror, just a few minutes drive away where you will find supermarkets, a variety of shops, restaurants, banks, bakeries, an aquatic centre and weekly market on Saturday morning. It is within 30 minutes from the nearest coast and 20 minutes from Caen by motorway. Close to Caen is the nearest airport Caen-Carpiquet.
Activities: walking, hiking, mountainbiking...you can start on our property. There is a nice walk from the property to a beautiful XIII century abbey at 2 km distance (and the owner speaks english).
The aquatic centre with pools, jacuzzi and sauna is only at 5 minutes drive, 2 golf courses (one flat and another more steep) both at 20 minutes drive. Fishing at 5 minutes and horseriding is only 10 minutes away.
We are located between the Swiss Normandy (10 minutes drive), great for outdoor activities like canoeing, hiking and paragliding and Le Pays d'Auge, where you can drive "La route du Cidre", watch typical Norman farmhouses and visit local producers of cider and calvados.
There are some very old churches (XI and XIII century) at 5 minutes drive and various castles and chateaus worthwhile to visit in the neighbourhood.
For everybody who is interested in WW II : have a look on Wikipedia - search for "Falaise pocket". The battle of the Falaise Pocket was the decisive engagement of the Battle of Normandy.
We are happy to provide you with detailed information about all WW II sites in the Calvados.
