Based at the foot of the Taurus mountains and backing on to the pine forest you can enjoy the sound of bird song, catch sight of the occasional tortoise, as he strolls across the garden,yet just a short walk away is the delightful authentic Turkish village with its shops, restaurants and little bakery. There is also a weekly market in the Square where you can buy fresh local produce, or try the villagers local wine. You may visit the ancient Lycian and Roman relics of Cadianda city - situated on the hinterground plateau behind the village.
A cosy taverna is situated within ten minutes walk from the villa if you want to eat out quickly, or order home-made food which they will deliver to your villa!
It is a casual 25 minute walk to reach the heart of the Uzumlu village and all its amenities.
Nearest beach is Caliş -16 km.
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
This is a truly stunning coastline, with rugged cliffs plunging into the turquoise sea. The climate offers pleasurably warm days from April onwards.
Ancient ruins from the Lycian period can be seen at Cadianda (12 km from the villa), and there is a walk up the mountain for those wishing a challenge! Also sites of Letoon, Pinara, Xanthos, Patara, Sidyma are close by or schedule a walk along the famous Lycian Way, starting at Hisaronu/Oludeniz.
Places of particular interest are the Blue lagoon ( Oludeniz ) with its calm turquoise waters - and is frequently rated as one of the top 5 beaches in the world. The lagoon lies inside a national nature reserve and the resort itself offers places to relax or in the evening a vibrant night life. For those who wish to be adventurous - Oludeniz offers tandem paragliding from its father mountain - Babadag. Many agencies can book you a flight, and you can come down to earth 25 minutes later, enjoying unforgettable sky-scape views of the lagoon, islands and forests with your tandem pilot.
Saklikent Gorge is the second largest gorge in Europe, and is a spectacular place. Apart from the gorge walk itself, there are many small restaurants suspended just above the rushing waters where you can feast on the local delights. You can book a Jeep Safari tour and enjoy some time spent here or take a minibus from Fethiye and chill out for the whole day. Saklikent is a great place to escape to when the summer climate is too hot as offers cooling shade and icy waters.
A regular local bus (dolmus) service passes the end of our lane, 40 m to the stop, the bus takes you into Fethiye town, from where you may collect other local buses to other spots of interest. İn the other direction, when you prefer not to walk, you can bus ride directly to the village square.
You may wish to hire a car,and the management representative could arrange this for you when you book.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Minimum stay 4 nights is available during low seasons.
There is no bank in the village, please use ATMs at airport or in Fethiye town itself.
*Please keep the bins emptied regularly to avoid smells or house flies.
*Always use cooker extractor when cooking to keep the kitchen smell-free for your comfort.
*When returning late, be considerate to other residents nearby.
*Do not run on slippery, wet pool terraces or paths and always supervise kids using the pool.
