This cottage offers you a unique vacation opportunity in a beautifully renovated 1890's stone school house conveniently located just 20 minutes from downtown Collingwood and Blue Mountain Resort/Village with shopping, dining and entertainment, yet only steps away from some of the finest wilderness cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking, cycling and rock climbing the rest of the year. You will also be an easy drive to beautiful summer beaches and a wide range of year-round events and attractions. Whether your vacation style is to be active or relaxed, this 1600 square foot, three bedroom cottage is an excellent vacation choice. The cottage offers privacy in a natural setting surrounded by forest and screened from the roadway with a line of cedars and mature trees. When you arrive at the cottage you will be welcomed by beautiful perennial gardens and a pleasant stone patio leading to the front door of the cottage. This tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished cottage can accommodate 8 persons and has all the comforts of home. There are chairs and a BBQ on the front patio and this is a perfect spot for the cooks to gather while grilling your favourite feasts. Inside the front door is the entry foyer with tile floors and plenty of cupboards for your shoes, jackets, etc. From the foyer you enter the modern gourmet kitchen with a high vaulted ceiling, exposed ceiling beams, and wide pine plank floors that continue through the cottage. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, cutlery, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, tea pot, kettle and toaster to satisfy your culinary needs and make meal preparation a breeze. The kitchen features a centre island that seats four and a lovely dining solarium with a table and four chairs, and bright floor to ceiling windows with plenty of sunlight and great views. From the kitchen it’s into the spacious open great room and dining room where the pine floors and walls, high cathedral ceiling, and large bright arched windows create a dramatic and inviting atmosphere. The great room features a wood burning fireplace for apres ski or cool evenings, a comfortable couch, chairs and ottoman to relax in, coffee table, TV, CD/DVD player and radio. If you are musically inclined there is even an upright piano for those who enjoy tickling the ivories. It’s the perfect spot to spend time by the fireplace socializing, catching up with friends or enjoying an evening movie with your family. One corner of the great room is setup with two chairs with a table and lamp if you are looking to simply enjoy a cup of tea and a good book. In the dining area there is a dining table with six chairs. You can use two other occasional chairs to easily seat eight people at the dining table. There are two bedrooms on the main floor of the cottage each with single over double bunk beds, and there is loft bedroom that looks out over the living and dining area. In the loft bedroom there is a skylight and queen bed. On the main floor of the cottage there is a 3 piece bathroom with sink, toilet and large walk-in shower with plenty of natural light from the glass block wall. For your convenience there is also a washer and dryer for your laundry needs during your stay. Outside of the cottage is a large lawn surrounded by forest. Be sure to bring your outdoor yard games, the generally level side and rear yards will be perfect for the kids young and old. In the side yard there is a pergola with a patio table and six chairs for outdoor dining and at the back of the rear yard is a firepit where you can enjoy evening campfires, story-telling and roasting marshmallows. From the backyard you can pick up the forest trails to spend a few hours or an entire day hiking or snowshoeing. Its only about 500 meters to the Bruce Trail and the Kolapore Uplands â popular destinations for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and wilderness cross country skiing. A short drive away is the quaint hamlets of Ravenna and Eugenia. Stop into the Ravenna General Store for an afternoon soup and sandwich. For the foodies in your group be sure to try dinner at the Flying Chestnut in Eugenia or drop into the Dam Pub in Thornbury. You can pick up fresh groceries in Thornbury and major stores can be found in Collingwood together with a wide variety of shopping, dining, entertainment, arts & culture events including festivals and attractions to please the whole family. Golf at any of the many area golf courses. Visit art galleries, artisan studios, antique shops or maybe a winery or brewery. You can cycle the challenging mountain bike trails at Three Stage Trails (Pretty River Valley Provincial Park), or enjoy some of the best road cycling in Ontario. If you are into adventure visit Scenic Caves, the Eco Adventure Tour and try the zip line cable or cross the suspension bridge. Enjoy a relaxing visit to a Scandinavian Spa. In the winter the area has superb alpine and cross country skiing. The choices are endless.
