‘Alto Mare’ – meaning ‘the wide sea’ in Italian was built as a stunning private home. This luxury 240m² villa has breathtaking, uninterrupted, sea views, 4 bedrooms and 2 private swimming pools, and is located just 400m from the beach. And Italy itself is 200 miles away beyond the blue horizon, across the wide open Ionian Sea. Nestled on a hillside surrounded by lush vegetation, the sunset views from this villa are quite spectacular. The small beach of Alaties – with it’s beautiful crystal-clear water, natural salt pools, and a charming Italian-run beach bar/restaurant – is just a 5mins walk (400m) away. The pretty, famous, fishing village of Fiscardo is just 10mins (8km) down the road.
The stylish villa’s chic, open-plan living area is furnished with a tasteful selection of antique Balinese and contemporary designer furniture, and there is direct access to the upper terraces and main swimming pool. The open, American-style kitchen is fully-equipped to a very high standard, making it perfect for family use. Each of the 4 bedrooms is air conditioned and furnished with a double bed – 3 of them benefitting from sea views and direct access to the terrace.
Outdoors, relax on the comfortable rattan seating on the 300m2 teak decking and gaze out over the wide blue yonder, lounge under the sun by one of the 2 swimming pools, or sip a glass of wine while enjoying the amazing sunsets – all in total privacy.

The Villa is set on two levels and can accommodate a maximum of eight people in total comfort.
The property offers a unique combination of design, style and natural beauty, as the views from all rooms are quite breathtaking.

The main entrance to the villa is on the upper level, directly into the 80 m2 living room with huge picture window allowing a panoramic view of the seascape. From here there is direct access to the upper teak terraces and main swimming pool. The fully equipped kitchen and guest cloakroom are also on this level.
The lower garden level can be accessed via the internal staircase and also from a separate entrance outside. On this level you will find 4 double bedrooms and a small office room. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and two share a bathroom. All bedrooms have air conditioning, wooden floors, double beds and fantastic views.
From this level there is direct access to the garden terrace and 2nd swimming pool. It is also possible to separate part of the ground floor, forming separate and self contained guest apartment. This can be accessed independently of the main house and has it's own entrance and living room.

Altomare Villa is superbly equipped for the outdoor living that can be enjoyed throughout the summer months in the Mediterranean.
The location of Altomare Villa is unique and the 300 square meters of teak decking ensure that visitors enjoy their surroundings to the full. The quality of furnishings and attention to detail are of the same high standard as the interior of the villa.
There are two swimming pools - one on each level. The main pool is located on the upper level, measures 8 metres x 4 metres and can be accessed directly from the main sitting room.
The garden level pool (5X3 m) is located on the lower terrace and can be directly accessed from the bedroom terraces.
To ensure that guests are always comfortable, there is an abundance of outside furniture and umbrellas. These include rattan chairs with cushions, stylish teak loungers and upright chairs.
Due to the facilities offered at Altomare Villa it is not really necessary to leave the house to enjoy the area. This has been indicated by the fact that most guests, whether staying for a week, a fortnight or more, don't often leave the property. Everything required for total relaxation is to hand.

“Stylish property, breathtaking views and beautiful, welcoming area”
We had a wonderful time at Alto Mare, from being greeted by the owner Catherine - as elegant as her beautiful house! - to enjoying a last spectacular sunset from the deck, we loved everything about our stay. The house is extremely stylish with modern art on the walls, mid century classic furniture and a colonial vibe. However it is also very well equipped and comfortable. The outside space in particular has been well designed and maximises the incredible sea views. Something that really adds to the experience is the fantastic, funky beach bar - Acqua - that is within easy walking distance of the villa and has its own little beach. It serves brilliant food and cocktails and is the perfect, laid back spot to watch the sun go down. We found Catherine's tips particularly useful. Everything she recommended turned out be something we really enjoyed eg drinks at Emelisse Hotel, breakfast at Picnic and the walk to Kimilia Beach. Every beach we visited was gorgeous and the clear, bright turquoise sea was still a lovely temperature for swimming even in October. We really liked the end of season atmosphere although others may find it almost too quiet at this time of year. Also, the journey from the airport was a bit further on twisty, mountain roads than we had realised and the narrow, unlit roads are a challenge at night if you aren't used to them. Everyone we met on our trip was delightful - friendly and helpful - especially Caterina who cooked us an amazing Greek meal on our last night. This was our first time in Greece and we loved it. We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend Alto Mare.

“A delightful villa with an amazing setting overlooking the Ionian Sea.”
We were looked after extremely well by the owner of the villa who gave us lots of written advice on car hire, places to visit on Kefalonia and Ithaca, restaurants, beaches, lovely walking trails including maps and much more. This definitely helped to make our holiday particularly enjoyable. We loved the villa: the spacious terraces with wide sea views, the well equipped kitchen, the excellent cook who served us delicious meals on the terrace, the comfortable beds. Location was quiet but just 400m from a beach with an excellent taverna. We swam mainly in the sea which was a little warmer in October than the pools at the villa.
