There are plenty of opportunities for shopping and guided tours through the historic district with hotels, court and prison buildings donning their original facades. The historic train station and a selection of restaurants such as the 'Galaxy Diner' (a typical restaurant in the 50's-style), the 'Beaver Street Brewery ', the' Copa Cafe', and many more will prevent you from ever being bored. The 'Lowell Observatory' (observatory, where Pluto was discovered), the 'Riordan Mansion' (manor house from the early pioneer days), the 'Pioneer Museum', the 'Museum of Northern Arizona' and many galleries offer a glimpse into the history and present day cultural life of this vibrant city.

Excursions, sports, culture: Lava caves, ruins of the pueblo and cliff dwellings of the indigenous people (Anasazi, Hohokam, Mogollon) like 'Wupatki', 'Walnut Canyon, Montezuma Castle' and 'Tutzigot' national parks and a visit to the 'Navajo', 'Hopi', 'Havasupai', 'Hualapai', 'Yavapai', 'Apache' and many other tribes, provide the interested visitors with an overview of original and contemporary lifestyles of Native Americans. The 'Arizona Snowbowl' (located 14 miles north of Flagstaff/ski area - base lift station at 9,200 ft.), the 'Nordic Ski Center' (Centre for Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing), sledding, golf, disc golf courses, mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, ski touring, climbing, horse riding, paragliding and hang gliding, jeep tours, whitewater rafting, etc. on the Colorado River, as well as jet skiing, water skiing and water-tubing on Lake Powell at Glen Canyon Dam, offer a great variety of sports activities.
