This accommodation offers both rural surroundings but also proximity to Florence. It is a small guesthouse set in an exceptional location: next to a prominent Renaissance villa and in one of the best residential neighbourhoods of the area. South of Florence, the town is surrounded by gentle hills and cultivated fields. This quarter outside the town carries the proud name 'Poggio Imperiale' - Imperial Hill. The villa's location at the southern edge of Florence is an ideal starting point for going on excursions to the Chianti region, to Siena or to the coast, as the feeder roads to the superstrada motorway Firenze-Siena and to the autostrada highway are close by (1.5 km) and can be reached quickly without having to pass through the city centre. All necessary shops and several restaurants are only 1 km away.
"Why Amerigo Vespucci?" you may ask. Quite simple: It is exactely here where Amerigo Vespucci, the famous Florentine navigator spent his youth, before he set sail to find the New World and give it his name! Yes, my American friend - it is an Italian who baptised your land! An avenue of lime trees leads to this elegant 15th century villa decorated with columns and statues which sits majestically atop a hill. This elevated position allows for a beautiful view of the landscape and a pleasant, soft breeze even on hot summer days.
Here you live in an olive grove, far away from the bustle of the city with its humming motorbikes and honking cars. While the location is far from every disturbance, it is only 3 km to the city - a distance which you could also cover by foot. There is a bus stop approximately 500 m away, and buses go to the centre regularly. The hospitable family of the house provides bikes for free upon their guests' request for biking to the bus stop or conveniently exploring the city (two bikes).
A side entrance with electronic gates leads to rear of the property. The visitor then enters a large, gravel forecourt with panoramic views of cypresses against a backdrop of hills. The Amerigo Vespucci apartment is housed in part of the former barn of the villa, which has been fully renovated and turned into tastefully furnished holiday accommodation. It is located approximately 15 m away from the main villa. The guesthouse has its own roof-top terrace equipped for al fresco dining. The pool with a small pool house is shared with another unit on the same esate (Galileo / also featured in our portfolio) and with the children of the owner.
Just by the way - the property owner can prepare dinners for you during your stay (please request menu and price on site). The accommodation is - compared to the usual prices in Florence - very reasonably priced and exceptional too for its location and excellent facilities. A fine address in Florence!

Every moment of this two week stay was amazing. The welcome we received from the family who own the property was extremely warm, helpful and friendly. The property was in a lovely quiet space with perfect Tuscan views. We found the property had plenty of space for our party of two adults and a 13year old. It was clean, had everything we needed and the pool was wonderful in the heat. We walked for 15 minutes to a good local deli and a very good local restaurant called i'canneto. A short bus ride took us into the centre of beautiful Florence where we met many warm and friendly Italian people, spent hours visiting the well known and lesser known sights and we really enjoyed our espresso's and gelato's. We definitely want to return!
Thank you so much for your positive and enthusiastic guest review!
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay!
With best regards,

Homeowners very warm and friendly. Spoke good English and offered lots of useful information.
Felt like we were in the Tuscan countryside yet only a 20- 30 minute walk down an ancient lane to the Romana gate into the city of Florence. Best of both worlds as able to take time out, relaxing by the pool but with ample sightseeing opportunities right on our doorstep.
Amazing views from rooftop terrace (accessed by tiny spiral staircase) Overall a fantastic place to stay.

We had a wonderful time in Florence, and probably an even better time because of where we stayed. We did not rent a car, but found the buses were very convenient. We spent most of our time in the city center, but it was so nice to come back at the end of the day for a dip in the pool and relax in the quiet. Our morning coffee on the rooftop terrace listening to the occasional rooster was nice too. Mario and Carla were wonderful hosts. They were pleasant and always willing to help when needed.

We arrived on a saturday, and found the villa easy enough to find. Mr Rampini and his wife were very welcoming. On first arrival we did not really recognise the apartment, the setting not as we imaginged, machinery in a yard. However, this was not a problem, obviously for the vineyards and olive groves surrounding, there was no noise at all from the yard and did not spoil our stay. We did find the accommodation very nice, a studio flat. We found the distance to the centre of Florence a good walk of around 35 minutes, which we were very happy to do every day (into Florence), very good exercise. The buses are also very good, running frequently. All in all we enjoyed our stay, very friendly owners, close proximity to centre and quite surroundings.

Amerigo Vespucci is a wonderful haven in a beautiful setting near Florence. The hosts, Mario and Carla, treat you like personal guests whilst also managing to keep a discreet distance. Their welcome is second to none and is just a taste of the pleasures to come. Staying at amerigo Vespucci you are able to spend the day in Florence,Pisa or Siena for that matter, and then escape to this lovely calm oasis to swim in the pool or have supper in the roof garden.
If you can't summon up the energy to go into Florence, the village of Galuzzo has a market, restaurants, coffee bars, shops and beautiful monastery nearby. Amerigo Vespucci is a true gem which we have recommended to a number of friends.
The only possible negative is the mosquitoes in summer so go prepared.

We enjoyed the personal atmosphere created by the hospitality and friendliness of the Rampini family. Mr.and Mrs. Rampini were always available when we needed something or just wanted to chat. The accommodation is spacious, in excellent condition and very quiet. It really offers privacy. Amerigo Vespucci is ideally located in the coutryside and yet close to the treasuers of Florence. Highly recommendable.
