This accommodation offers both rural surroundings but also proximity to Florence. It is a small guesthouse set in an exceptional location: next to a prominent Renaissance villa and in one of the best residential neighbourhoods of the area. South of Florence, the town is surrounded by gentle hills and cultivated fields. This quarter outside the town carries the proud name 'Poggio Imperiale' - Imperial Hill. The villa's location at the southern edge of Florence is an ideal starting point for going on excursions to the Chianti region, to Siena or to the coast, as the feeder roads to the superstrada motorway Firenze-Siena and to the autostrada highway are close by (1.5 km) and can be reached quickly without having to pass through the city centre. All necessary shops and several restaurants are only 1 km away.
Just by the way: this is where Amerigo Vespucci, the famous Florentine navigator spent his youth, before he set sail to find the New World and give it his name! An avenue of lime trees leads to this elegant 15th century villa decorated with colums and statues which sits majestically atop a hill. This elevated position allows for a beautiful view of the landscape and a pleasant, soft breeze even on hot summer days.
Here you live in an olive grove, far away from the bustle of the city with its humming motorbikes and honking cars. While the location is far from every disturbance, it is only 3 km to the city - a distance which you could also cover by foot. There is a bus stop approximately 500 m away, and buses go to the centre regularly. The hospitable family of the house provides bikes for free upon their guests' request for biking to the bus stop or conveniently exploring the city (two bikes).
A side entrance with electronic gates leads to rear of the property. The visitor then enters a large, gravel forecourt with panoramic views of cypresses against a backdrop of hills. The Galileo guesthouse is located at the far end of the forecourt, at the panoramic sunny side of the property, about 40 m from the main villa. The apartment is housed in the former wood store of the villa, which has been recently fully renovated and turned into tastefully furnished holiday accommodation. The guesthouse has its own roof-top terrace equipped for al fresco dining. The pool with a small pool house is shared with another unit on the same esate (Amerigo Vespucci / also featured in our portfolio) and with the children of the owner.
The property owner can prepare dinners for you during your stay (please request menu and price on site). The accommodation is - compared to the usual prices in Florence - very reasonably priced and exceptional too for its location and excellent facilities. A noble address in Florence!

Mario and Carla made us very welcome and were perfect hosts. Galileo is very comfortable with lovely views and everything you need for a great holiday. Galuzzo village is a short walk away with two excellent restaurants and a good deli. Florence is also walkable in a good half an hour but there are regular buses also.
The location combines peaceful relaxation with the benefits of the city close by. An added bonus is the swimming pool, which is shared with other guests and the family. This was very welcome after hot days sightseeing.
Thank you so much for your positive and enthusiastic guest review!
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay!
With best regards,

We had a wonderful time on our stay at Galileo. Staying was my wife and me, and our children 13 and 7. The owners were very nice and friendly. The property was beautiful and it was just as pictured in the description. The owners were even nice enough to drive us to dinner a couple nights, as well as give recommendations on places to eat and where go to buy food. The property is a nice 15-20 minute walk into the town of Galluzzo. One night we had dinner in Galluzzo (recommended by the owner) and was a wonderful meal. Another day we walked into town to buy food for the day and shopped at a produce market and butcher shop. We used the pool most days which was a nice refreshing way to spend the day. Walking their property has wonderful views and history of the area. When we went into Florence we take a taxi, which the property owner was nice enough to call for us. I highly recommned this property and given the opportunity I would stay here again.
Dear Mrs. & Mr. Iannuzzi,
Thank you so much for your guest review!
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay!

We (couple in midfortys) stayed in Galileo at august 2012. The worm welcome of the owners of the villa (Mario and Carla) let us felt like at home. At our arrival the refridgerator was filled with delicious things to eat and drink - there was a bottle of wine already.
The cottage is (like it is mentioned in the title) very nice with all you "need" to stay. There is an air conditioning and free internet (W-LaN).
The pool was great to cool down after a hot day and the private terrace on top of our cottage with the great view was fantastic.
About 2 km away, there is a grocery and a very good pizzeria, where only Italians eated during our visits.
Florence is about 5 min driving by car, there is a bus station about 10 min. on foot. The chianti region is good to reach as well.

Galileo is wonderful. Beautiful Tuscan villa-style apartment with a pool right outside the door, a private roof terrace and wonderful views over the Tuscan countryside. You'd never think that in a pleasent 35 minute walk or 15 minute bus ride you could be on the Ponte Vecchio. Galileo is situated in the grounds of a large family country house owned by the wonderful and helpful Mario and Carla who offered great advice on the local area. Galuzzo is just down the road with a daily market and a few shops and cafes, everything you need!
If you want a quiet, relaxing break in the Tuscan hills, with the option to shop and eat in one of the worlds great cities then Galileo is for you. Can't wait to go back.

This was our first trip to Italy and staying at Galileo made the experience even better. It was close to Florence and yet very quiet and lovely. Mario and Carla are wonderful people and the villa was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely go back again.

Galileo was in a great location. Our accommodations were more than adequate for 3 adults and our precious grandson. Mario and Carla (property owners) were more than generous in supplying us with extras daily. Florence was very hot this July, however, Galileo was air conditioned which was a blessing.

On our first evening, we found a filled refrigerator for our first breakfast next day - and for the same evening we got a tray with all elements of a typical dinner of this region. We were very surprised and we enjoyed it.
The view from the terrace over the beautiful landscape is unique. If you want, you can stay a whole day on this terrace to without to be bored.
We'll come again!

Mario and Carla are wonderful hosts who made our stay enjoyable and memorable. They cannot do enough for you. The proximity to Florence is great, just a short bus jouney to the centre. Tuscany is a magical area with so much to see and enjoy.
