Athena is a unique apartment that wins the client over with its oriental feeling right in the historic centre of Florence, just a few steps away from the Arno River and the Polimoda Fashion School. It is ideal for short-term rentals. The apartment can comfortably accommodate 2 people.
The Athena apartment (with no elevator, 65 steps to climb) is on the fourth floor on a building on Borgo Ognissanti. The apartment is located right in front of the "Garage Europa." Despite being in the center of Florence Athena isn't in the ZTL restricted traffic zone which means that this apartment is ideal for those who want to visit Florence by car. Everything you could possibly need is within a 15-20 minute walk from the apartment, from supermarkets to bars, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The apartment (68 m² / 731 ft²) has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom and can sleep up to 2 people. The Athena apartment has a very elegant Oriental style and provides a unique combination of decorative elements that offer peace and simplicity of traditional rural life. Guests are greeted by a spacious living room with dining area that allows guests to put themselves at ease on the comfortable leather sofa and read a good book in the light of a beautiful floor lamp. The dining area is bright with large skylights. Finally, a long corridor leads to the kitchen corner and bathroom with shower decorated in shades of red with a vague Oriental style.

The apartment is located on Borgo Ognissanti, a street near the square of Santa Maria Novella. The apartment is located near the piazza of Santa Maria Novella. This area of Florence is a 20 minute walk to the main cultural attractions such as the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo, the Bargello Museum, Piazza della Signoria, and Palazzo Vecchio.
The area is mainly residential so there is a variety of grocery stores, bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and cafes. In the area you will also find Stazione Leopolda, Florence’s former railway station which has been converted into a vibrant exhibition hall used for events such as craft fairs, television and fashion shows, as well as for cultural and business meetings.
Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red /green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify their need for access in the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

Thank you for your review. We are glad to know that you had a good time at the Athena apartment. Unfortunately many buildings in the center of Florence like the one where Athena is, are really old and don't allow to any modifications to be able to install an elevator .As per the description online on our website, the Athena apartment is located on the fourth floor, without elevator with 65 steps to climb.
The lack of an elevator simply means that you can afford to eat more gelato and pasta!!!
We look forward to welcoming you back to Florence in the very near future.

“Athena is a wonderful apartment in Florence, Italy!”
Left on 09/22/2013 for a stay in July 2013 | MaryReviewed Sep 22, 2013Stayed Jul 2013
My boyfriend and I stayed in the athena apartment in Florence in early July, 2013. It was the best apartment we stayed in Italy for this 6-stop trip. We really appreciate how the apartment's architect/owner designed the space so efficiently and beautifully and interestingly; tasteful appointments/touches (warm woods accent the floors, doors, and framework, and the copper piping along the hallway was decorative and functional!). The kitchen and bath are beautiful, clean, and efficient. The apartment is situated in a neighborhood that's not overrun with tourists, which gave us a slice of urban Florence. The kitchen was well stocked; we didn't have to shop for coffee or spices & essentials. We enjoyed shopping at the small market a few doors down for meats, breads, vegetables, and fruits, the bakery across the street for delicious biscotti and other sweets; the Marcato Centrale di San Lorenzo was a good stretch-of-the-legs away but you need to walk to experience Florence! We had to procure a cell phone when we got into Florence so that we could meet the rental property representative at the property. We had to take best guesses on how to operate the oven and the clothes washer & dryer, and attempts to connect to the internet on the first full day was impossible; the owner provided a 30-40 character password, handwritten; a few of the characters were difficult to discern and kept us from logging on so that we could connect with family/friends; we had to wait the next late afternoon after connecting via a diner's wifi (thank you theflorencediner.com!) to send an sos to the rental office, but received a quick response after connecting to the city wifi, but besides all those little things, we'll never forget this apartment; I recommend it for couples comfortably (1-2 more people would be "cozy"). I hope we can return again in a few years if it's still available. Thank you for a great stay!!
