The area takes its name from one of the city’s most remarkable churches. The Santa Croce neighbourhood provides a rare glimpse of “old” Florence with lively markets and tiny leather and artisan workshops, including the flea market (Mercato delle Pulci) at Piazza dei Ciompi. The Mercato St. Ambrogio, the city’s second main food market after the Mercato San Lorenzo, is within close walking distance too. Furthermore, the area is just a stone’s throw from some of the city’s main cultural attractions such as the Bargello Palace, which houses one of Italy’s most important museums, the Casa Buonarroti, (the former home of Michelangelo), Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio, not forgetting the magnificent Santa Croce church and museum. You will also enjoy the largest selection of boutique shops, bars and typical restaurants and pizzerias within the city. Three of the finest and most expensive restaurants, Cibreo, Pinchiorri and Alle Murate are located nearby. There is also a good choice of mid-priced options. By night, Santa Croce becomes one of the liveliest parts of town and with its pedestrianised streets and illuminated buildings it transforms into the perfect venue for an after-dinner glass of wine or evening stroll. For those choosing an apartment in this area Santa Croce offers several food stores, supermarkets, laundrettes and individual gift shops as well as being adequately served by the local public transport service. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

We had an amazing time in this beautiful apartment. It is even more lovely that the photos - really spacious and spotlessly clean. It had everything you could need, including lots of living space, natural light, good bathrooms and very comfortable beds. It's in a great area - within walking distance of everything, with good bars and restaurants on the doorstep. I whole-heartedly recommend this apartment for a Florence trip - it made our stay in this beautiful city perfect. We booked very easily via air bnb and Lourdes from Windows on Italy welcomed us - and even though it was a very late check in she was incredibly helpful and friendly.
Dear Rebecca, thank you so much for this wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the apartment and I have already told Lourdes about what you said about her!! She was totally thrilled!! We do hope you are planning on coming back to Florence soon!!! All the best, Anna - Windows on Italy

The flat was tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean, well maintained and well equipped. The location was excellent : a small quiet street but only minutes from Santa Croce. The service was also very good. The person who let us into the flat even gave us a list of restaurants which as tourists we would otherwise never have discovered - thank-you! The only issue for us was that the twin bedroom smelt so strongly of cígarette smoke that our daughter did not want to sleep there and ended up moving her mattress into the second sitting room. Without this I would have given 5 stars throughout. As it was I can only give 3 stars overall, as well as for Value, Comfort and Cleanliness, as these were all impacted by the loss of use of the bedroom due to the cigarette smell. Luckily, with the extra sitting room, there was still a private space available for my daughter to sleep and we enjoyed our weekend very much.
Thank you for submitting your review. We are extremely sorry to hear that someone before you had been smoking in the apartment. We try our best to tell clients not to smoke inside the apartments for the courtesy of the next guests in arrival. However, we are unable to have total control over what clients do. I am sure our cleaning staff left the windows open but as you can imagine it takes a while before a cigarette smell vanishes. I do very much apologise for this incovenience. We are adding NO SMOKING signs in our apartments to try and avoid similar problems in the future. Regards, Anna - Windows on Italy

Luce is a very nice apartment. Its location in Santa Croce makes it very comfortable to reach. The only issue is that it is inside the controlled traffic area which means it is not accessible by private car. Our stay was fabulous. We were six adults in three bedrooms. My wife and I stayed in the upper bedroom, while the rest of the family shared the other two bedrooms on the mail level. The two and a half bathrooms were fantastic and we used them all. My suggestion to the owner would be to add a toilet in the upstairs bathroom (instead of the shower) and a shower in the half bathroom on the main level (instead of the toilet). Other then that our stay was enjoyable and I would recommend this apartment to any large family such as mine.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad to know that you had a good time at the Luce apartment. Your opinion is really important for us and we will surely evaluate all of your suggestions. We look forward to welcoming you back to Florence in the very near future.
