Less than one mile from the historic city center of Florence, this villa is truly immersed in the Tuscan countryside. Built during the Renaissance as a convent, Villa La Campora and its extensive gardens were magnificently restored a few years ago with exquisite attention to detail. Furnished with contemporary pieces and antiques, its unusually-large windows and French doors simply flood the house with light, allowing true indoor-outdoor living combined with a warmth that reflects the best parts of Tuscan life.
The villa has three bedrooms, each one of which has its own bathroom. The en-suite master bath is an exquisitely-tiled room with extraordinary views. In addition, there is a pull-out sofa in the media room, allowing La Campora to sleep 8 easily.
The gourmet kitchen has top-of-the-line European appliances, as well as expansive Cararra marble countertops and stainless steel and glass cabinets, and is equipped for everything a top chef could desire. It can easily host cooking classes. The family room is filled with games and toys, the living room has a large fireplace, and the media room has a large flat-screen TV, WII, and video technology. The terra cotta floors throughout the ground floor and cross-ventilation from the many windows keep the house cool during the summer.
The best part of Villa La Campora may be its gardens. The kitchen garden is a private, walled enclave with a small gurgling fountain, and basil, thyme and other kitchen plants that grow freely and can be used in any meal. We eat there as often as possible, and the glass tables that easily seat 12 make entertaining a pleasure with our Weber grill. There are two additional dining terraces in the main gardens, each with truly spectacular countryside views. The vista of the neighboring castles and villas from the main terrace is particularly worth mentioning; facing due west, there is no better place for enjoying an apperitivo while watching magical sunsets transform the countryside.
The main garden also has a soccer field, numerous fruit trees (we eat fresh cherries, grapes, pears, apples, lemons, plums and persimmon directly from the tree), grape vines, an olive grove and a dream-like, 6 x 10 meter swimming pool. Lie on one of the relaxing outdoor chairs soaking in the view, take a cool dip or outdoor shower, and enjoy lunch al fresco prepared on the fire pit. It really cannot be beat.
And all of this, while being within walking distance from local stores, and all the sites that make Florence, well, Florence!
Villa La Campora is located less than a mile from Porta Romana, the entrance to Florence's historic city center. Nonetheless, it's also immersed in the verdant green of Tuscany's countryside. Also within walking distance are all the stores you might need, as well as some excellent restaurants!
The Superstrada and Autostrada are also only minutes by car. The towns of Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca, Montepulciano, and Montalcino are all less than an hour's drive from the property.
Villa La Campora is truly a unique property – light and airy, historic and filled with gardens; it is for those who want to relax while appreciating all of Tuscany’s cultural and culinary delights.TripAdvisor property ID 2711940...Read more

Five minutes from the Gates of Florence, this villa was the heart of our 3 week trip to Italy, allowing us to tour the sites, and jump home for a midday swim. Preparing meals with ingredients from the local markets in the state of the art kitchen, sipping chianti around the pool, gazing over the stunning grounds, our children's squeals of delight from the soccer field, just far enough away . . allowed us to experience first hand, the Florentine lifestyle. The home is spacious and beautifully appointed with an international flair. Considering the cost of local hotels, this splendid villa was a bargain, and the proprietors were so helpful that ultimately it was as though we were staying in the home of close friends, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when in Italy.
