“Excellent location and spotlessly Clean”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2020

What a beautiful place. The host was welcoming, lovely welcome items too which was much appreciated! The cottage was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. Cosy lounge smart Tv and bedrooms were spacious and having a bathroom downstairs and shower room upstairs 2 toilets was a massive bonus. The location was stunning and watching the boats go by very relaxing. Plenty of pubs, restaurants shops and brilliant fish and chip takeaway a few doors away. We will definitely be back. Excellent base for the most beautiful and stunning walks.

“Unique wee gem of a cottage”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2020

Lovely week spent in this unique wee gem. Post Lockdown it was great to get away, and hosts were very helpful, and were implementing all covid-19 rules and regulations. The place was absolutely spotless, and handwash was provided in the bathrooms. Fantastic location right on the canal side, with views from the living room and the two bedrooms onto the canal and the hills behind. Our wee boy loved watching the boats, as did we. Great to sit on the wee bench outside the front of the house with a drink at the end of the day and watch the happenings on the canal. So close to the hub of Fort Augustus, shops, pubs and restaurants just 2 mins walk down the road. Lovely cozy old cottage with tartan carpets. Wi-Fi worked fine, and washing machine and tumble drier were a bonus. Hosts also provided travel cot with bedding and a high chair for our 1 year old son. Couple of things to note- old cottage therefore upstairs low door frames and ceilings weren't so practical for my 6'4" husband! Old style windows in bedrooms meant no curtains on top half of windows. So if you don't want to be woken at crack of dawn bring an eye mask to sleep in! We had to hang a towel up to stop the light coming in and waking our wee boy. Beds also not the comfiest, mattresses were hard, could do with new ones or even just a mattress topper, but that could just be a personal preference. Washing up liquid, sponge, brush and J-cloth were provided but no oven gloves or dish towel in kitchen. Tea, coffee, sugar and small pack of shortbread were left for us, but no salt for cooking. All in all it was a really lovely holiday, and we'd love to come back again some day.
